Download a calorie counting app, spend a couple days seeing what chews up your intake for the day.

At that weight you really only need to eat right and walk 30-60 min a day to get noticeable weight drops

I was nearly your size and lost 50 lb's in about 6 months... Find something that you enjoy doing that's physical. Basketball, weights, swimming whatever it is. (you'll only stick with it if you enjoy it so it's important to enjoy it) 2nd thing is most important, turn UP the protein. Turn it the fuck up, way up! The more lean protein you eat the more you'll jack up your metabolism, and the less hungry you'll be to eat other shit food... They call it dietary thermogenesis... Boneless skinless chicken breast is your new best friend. Get on board with some fat free milk, eggs, fish, steak, chicken... You'll eat a bunch and still be hungry so eat more. Just make sure you get the fiber in too or else you wont shit for a week. Oatmeal is fantastic in the morning for fiber and carbs... Get on board with the real foods man, nothing processed. People think you have to starve it off, you dont... Just eat the right shit and you can burn it off by jacking up your metabolism...

Gotta find something you somewhat enjoy doing. If you hate the treadmill and that's your source of exercise, it's only a matter of time before you say fuck the treadmill... I enjoy lifting weights so I try to lift a few days a week. Kinda got into the whole lifting thing and became interested in it... I like it because the culture of it puts a large emphasis on diet so the exercise and diet go hand in hand... If u like bike riding for example, just start doing it... get into it as a hobby, get into the culture and you'll enjoy it. Enjoyment is the key to staying motivated. The diet is key too though, processed shit is the worst. white enriched flour and sugar/high fructose corn syrup are about the worst things you can put in your body... Protein in large quantities will turn your body into a damn furnace and you'll burn that fat off through diet. If you starve it off, your body slows down and tries to hold on to the fat, burn it off with protein it fucking works, i tried starving it off for years and it never happened...

Same here, you can do it dude. Never lose focus. Be patient, you're on the right way if it's slow and steady, that means that you won't gain everything back once you stop dieting. You'll get to the end of it. If you can, go swim (good for confidence too).

Something I do to keep me motivated is that I slowly replace my clothes by smaller sizes, I have to force myself to keep on losing weight not to lose my money and fit my clothes. Maybe it's retarded but it works for me, especially with jeans, pants and underwear.

Do some cardio, planks and swimming. Eat well, less sugar, less red meat and less fat, it's easier if you already used to eat healthy. Get a goal, what's your height? You should aspire as being the ideal weight for your height.
It's not easy overcoming a loss in your family but I'm pretty sure you can get your life back on track. Not tomorrow, today. Don't even reply to me, go out for a run, the first run of your new routine.

I sometimes cook a super simple vegetable mix that somehow tastes amazing. Just chop and mix the following, heat on medium for 15 minutes:
> 1 Carrot
> Broccoli (not much)
> Cauliflower (not much)
> 1/2 - 1 Onion
> 200 grams of lentils (or peas, if you prefer)
> Chopped sun dried tomatoes (preferably in oil)
> If no oil from dried tomatoes, add 3 tablespoons of oil (rapeseed, sunflower.. any should be ok)
> Optionally add 0.5 deciliters of milk. Alternatively water.
> some spinach leaves (add towards end of cooking)

Serve after 15 minutes, spice to your taste (suggest white pepper and cayenne pepper)
Avoid salt, lemon pepper and other very flavourful spices. You don't need them, there is plenty good taste in this dish already.

For me, the dried tomato pieces trick me into thinking I've had meat (don't get me wrong, I eat meat all the time, and dislike vegetarianism).
The amount makes me feel full (satisfied and more) for a long enough time.
The veggies are healthy and make your bowels slippery as fuck. Your poops will be having a fun day in their new waterslide-environment.

If you do something (excercise, diet) and you see those first results, then you have gotten started!
Those first results should give you motivation to keep going for atleast a few more days, which will provide further results, leading to more motivation etc...
You should also notice that you last longer in excercises (if only just a little longer), and you may feel like your feet suddenly move you much easier.

If you miss a day or two of excercise, or accidentally a hamburger, don't worry. It happens, just get back to where you were and you'll keep seeing those results improve.

Here's a tip: Don't measure daily calories. Instead, measure weekly calories. Try to get below 10000 a week.
You can do the same with miles/km walked or repetitions done in training etc. Weekly measurements are easier to control.
