I don't think the energy is there anymore. Mesmerize and Hypnotize weren't in the same class as their first three albums plus their garage demo. The new album is going to be mediocre as fuck but acclaimed with a popular cover song like Disturbed's Immortalized.
System of a Down thrived on being an aggressive punk/nu-metal fusion. They've all gone their separate ways too far to organically return to their roots.
