He did everything he possibly could with his type of comedy. Now people go to youtube and snapchat for 4 second memes from randoms. It'd be impossible to do what he did in the 90s today. I've never been but I know his standup acts are supposed to be pretty funny and it's alll small club stuff that doesn't get recorded or hyped up. He seems like the kind of guy who just enjoys that medium more than trying to "blow up" all over again doing pranks on the street.

I remember on the Norm Macdonald podcast, Norm and Tom Green had a while bit where they take questions from fans one the phone / over skype and he legitimately sounded paranoid about taking calls.
That was the first and last time that segment was on the Norm Macdonald Live podcast so I'm not sure if it was an homage to Green's old show or it was classic Norm baiting for a reaction knowing full well what would happen.

Partially this, I think he was so far ahead of the curve that he didn't have the media or social media outlets that he could have truly capitalized on. I think a lot of his humor was lost on people at the time and most thought it was a gimmick.
