What most people on the left believe is that Russia had a financial and political motivation to influence the election in favour of the pro-russia candidate. They did so by releasing damaging information they had obtained fromt he hacked DNC e-mails.
It is also very likely that they used the tried and tested russian method of fabricating news stories, circulating unverified gossip and generally just trolling message boards and social media. Russia's misdirection/disinformation tactics are not new but this is probably the first time we see them gaining such success on the international scene.
Now, parallel to this, is the worrying trend of Trump's campaign staff and political allies having secretive talks with a russian diplomat, indicating that Russia seeks to curry favour with the new president, probably in order to lift the economic sanctions on russia.

Now what we were discussing is the President's tweet last weekend where he claimed that Obama had illegally wiretapped his apartment during the election. Someone claimed that there is evidence for it and posted a link where an user WH official said that there was no wiretap; just a probe into a server finding no illegal bribes or anything of that nature that would implicate Trump. So they moved on.
Now as far as I know, Trump has not brought forth any evidence backing this allegation up but, you know, with Obama being a secret muslim tyrant hellbent on destroying the US of A, it wouldn't be surprising, right?
Except, Obama is no longer the president and if Trump is going to start ranting about perceived attacks he read about on Breitbart at 05am, then I would urge him to do so with all the facts at hand, lest people start perceiving Trump as an absolute tool.
