I myself am from the portuguese side of galicia, but my family comes from viveiro just north of lugo. It's not uncommon to see people with red beards there.

I've been to my town. I'm not saying everyone has them but I saw a few other people with them. For example I'm the only person in my family who grows the red beard. I'm not saying it's super common. Just...most people probably know at least one person.
