I don't think classical is objectively better than any other genre (especially I don't get why western classical is singled out over other classical music traditions elsewhere) but classical music criticism is a lot better than rock/jazz music criticism (apart from Scaruffi) because the underrated classics have had their time to get well known and you can stick to what's popular and critically acclaimed to hear the best while for rock music you have to search it out.

The best part about classical is that the most popular composers truly are the greatest, so it's really easy to be patrician. You can just listen to Bach, Beethoven and Mozart and you'll automatically have better taste than 99% of people.
