An AR clone is easy and fun to build on your own. Buy a complete upper, build the lower. Cheaper than buying a complete AR.

Here I'm Canada we can own firearms. We just have to pass the applicable level of the Pal liscense course. The whole point is teaching safety really so I think it's smart.
We have three levels: Unrestricted for hunting type shit, restricted for handguns etc and prohibited for everything else.

They work. Nothing too special about them. Fit and finish is good enough, some wobble and space between the upper and lower. Good value at that price point.

As an Amecan with 0 guns, I've always wondered what makes them interesting to people - why people want to spend so much money on them, it's such an expensive hobby.
My best guess is that I would need to have absolutely no hobbies or interests, and due to sheer boredom I would turn to things like ARs to entertain me. Also 1 in 3 in Alabama are functionally illiterate, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that retards (literally, kek) want their guns.

I have no guns myself, but I do have an appeal to the idea of defending one's self and their property by any means that they can accomplish. a gun is a very good way to keep people from wanting to rob or kill you. People should prepare for violence to defend themselves from violence.

For California? Thats not true. An assault weapon has certain features WITH a quick mag release (pistol grip, adjustable stock, etc..) You can have these features on an AR if you have the type of mag release where you 'disassemble' your gun to release the mag. Look up the patriot mag release or the bullet button reloaded. If you have that type of mag release, you can have all you AR specs. In california at least

I live in America and I own a couple guns, but I probably would never use one for protection. Although it might be legal to own a gun, or even carry one, it's mostly illegal to actually use one. Even in a self defense situation, the law will do everything they can to try and convict you of murder or manslaughter. In a government-turning-on-citizen scenario, they will come after the registered gun owners first, with overwhelming force and, since most people keep their guns at home, we will just end up being disarmed or killed.
Still, I hang onto my guns for fun, and for the possibility of loss of social cohesion, or even a foreign invasion.
If you want to fight the rogue government, get unregistered guns and hide them in caches. Multiple caches in multiple locations. The home is not a castle, it's a coffin.

I can handle knives and blunt objects good enough for self or home defense and I'm quite happy, that it's hard here in germany to buy guns. But it's not as hard as everyone thinks. You just need to get a license first. Requirements: not a convicted criminal, no mental illnesses and you have to be in a "verein". Don't know the proper word for that in english. With that you can buy any non-automatic weapon, that is also not considered a weapon not designed for use in a war.

Since there are very few people with guns here in the UK its not something i would likely have to worry about. Given how few there are here why would I need one as protection, I would more likely be attacked with a knife. I have SPEAR training due to my line of work (psychiatric hospital.) so feel sufficiently able to repel a knife attack.
That said I wouldnt mind doing shooting for a hobby OP, I do Archery and own several crossbows and compound bows but would like to go to the states for a bit of shooting.
