It's completely normal for words to be singular, but end with -s.

this is why you should learn french instead

>tfw you can't remember the gender of a noun in German so you just say Der and hope it's right

...

Why is German so random and arbitrary? I was told that it was a "logical" language.

just think of a context where it becomes plural and use the die form.
Anyhow, it doesn't really matter and while yes, Germans will correct you, it'snot like it's bad to make mistakes while learning a language.
t. dude studying in Germany (I'm on semester break back in the US.)

japanese doesn't have this problem

>tfw your languages has tons of similarities with german but the grammar is completely different so it makes it even more confusing
>then the american tourist asks if you're german

>not -en

>tfw you can't remember the plural form of a word in Arabic so you just add an -een/-aat and hope the interlocutor understands you

>tfw try to learn Arabic but after learning how to read it only gets harder and harder

>tfw a french noun ends in -e so I just add "la" in front of it and hope it's right

>'How is your name?'
>logical language

>tfw dont remember anything you learnt in german class

I don't know the distribution over the most common used words but overall you would have a better chance being correct if you choose „die“.
