>be american
>learn from the internet that nobody cares about "muh heritage"
>go overseas and work with tons of europeans
>they all ask me where my last name is from
>"america"
>"no, like what actual country is your family from"
Be american
>they all ask me where my last name is from
This is false.
you are false
it happens all the time
literally where?
They just want to figure out if you're a Jew.
America
it has to be false because we roughly know the names
we arent undeducated muppets so we can have a rough guess and would be asking something specific
exception is surprise surprise are the bongs who only know there are eeeeeenglish names and the rest is europe
in Japan at least.
It's hypocritical too. They complain about muh heritage yanks but then ask me questions about my ancestry when I've been rooted in America 100+ years.
Only if you have a really strange name.
Everyone in Europe is aware the types of names different nationalities have, since we learn European history, and with it, hundreds of foreign names, so you can usually make an educated guess whether somebody's name is Slavic, Germanic or whatever.
My last name is uncommon and not something obvious like -ski or -ko.
wow hivemind
ezt mégis hogy? :)
>it happens all the time
Perhaps, but it happens in your head and not in real life.
so you work in japan with europeans from different cunts?
that's not your normal japanese environment, nor is similar to any of euro countries. they ask about your background because everyone's is different there and maybe they expect surprising answers. go to europe and no one will care about your lat name, unless it's weird
One can only hope.
I don't ask them about their names though.
>people who americans obsess about muh heritage
>humour them
>americans get mad
what!
My knowledge comes from the internet and Sup Forums. I didn't learn shit in school.
>I don't ask them about their names though.
maybe it's time to start :-{D
>western dude in japan
that's the same thing as people asking what kind of asian are you when outside of asia
don't apply that to other parts of the world
So you're a dumbass. If I were you I wouldn't flaunt it publicly like it's something to be proud of.
I'm not a dumass but I'm in the same boat.
>it has to be false based on this anecdote I just pulled out of my ass
There are nations outside of Europe, you know. Also, since anecdotes are acceptable, I've found that a lot of Europeans take a polite interest in it. So long as you're not drunkenly running down the streets of Dublin screaming how you're 1/100th Irish Europeans are actually curious if you have any cultural ties to their country. It's only basement dwelling autists here who take a 2 minute break from beating off to anime porn and verbally assaulting people with brown skin who act like they're the vanguard of their culture any anyone having a remote interest in their geanology is somehow taking that culture away.
you are the one claiming something on your own personal experience you dumb amerisharter
And how's it working out for you?
CHI
>since anecdotes are acceptable
Go back to your ESL class
it's just curiosity, they don't expect you to tell america isn't your real country, etc... like what a heritage fag would do, actually most people in europe don't even know heritage fags exist
