I've heard parts of the animatrix are supposedly good

otherwise no, movies 2+3 should be purged from existence

the other two movies

just skip the zion scenes

Animatrix, primarily the Second Renaissance parts 1 and 2.

The sequels aren't horrible, but they both devolve into melodramatic crap that ruins them. Still worth watching for the fights.

What really killed the franchise was the death of Gloria Foster, the actress who portrayed the Oracle. Her replacement in the third movie essentially ruined the epilogue.

This guy is dumb.
The rest of the movies are good, they're just completely different from the first one, which of course they had to be. The curtain had been lifted, the chosen one found his duty and abilities, so the following movies had to change. Some of the Zion shit was boring and ugly, but the action scenes alone inside the Matrix are worth watching for.

>we dance by twirlyjumping , won't you join us user

...

these are the same autistic contrarians that defend the Star Wars prequels

Watch the whole trilogy, it's worth seeing. Definitely watch the animatrix too, it's high quality stuff.

You're the one with the cliche opinion here, appreciation for nuance isn't something redditors generally have.

Reddit pls go

>buzzword

You're not fooling anyone Reddit

buzzword itself is a buzzword

If you're not retarded, you'll want to know what happens in that universe. But surelly it'll take the magic of the first movie away. So be prepared to do that sacrifice.

Only Reddit is a Reddit

now you're just speaking gibberish

>he didn't fast forward through the monotonous wuxia while rewatching in order to assess the quality of the drama and philosophical elements.

Sorry user, the 2nd and 3rd film are deeply flawed. I 'm willing to get into detail, but basically the direction went downhill, everything became repetitious and portentous. They forgot to be sparing in order to make sure the audience valued what they saw. Far to liberal with the explosions and slow-mo, etc.

Try again Reddit

nah

Not the user you're redditing, but:

stop for a second and think about whatever horrible shit in your life it is that you're trying to repress with your shameless shitposting.

The worst thing about it is how boring it is. Stop forcing people look at it. Or at least try to be inventive.

DESU one of Reloaded's redeeming qualities is that it contains one of the better car chases ever committed to film, a genre of sequence which wasn't present in the first film.

The rest of it is pretty forgettable and god-awful repetitive, and Revolutions is only worse, and more ridiculous. However, Reloaded had one more innovation which in retrospect really isn't that innovative, but I was impressed with it in the theater at the time: in the second film, a third-class of entity, apart from the humans and the computer programs which secretly police those humans still plugged into the matrix (agents, etc), there is a third class of entity: rogue programs that aren't particularly useful to either paradigm any more, and so they simply live in the matrix, seeking to avoid deletion if possible, fulfilling a variety of roles, functions, character tropes etc. It is these new entities who liven things up a bit.

>genre of sequence

what the hell does that mean?

This a cat sitting on pancakes

Your argument is invalid Reddit

The Second Renaissance is amazing

Animatrix is ranges from pretty solid to awesome.

A type of sequence or scene in a film, a particular type of scene which is seen over and over again, in many different types of films, narratives, etc, yet is a "short" thing ultimatley in service to the larger story, and not a fully developed story unto itself.

The Car Chase.
The Violent Killing.
The Seduction.
The Exposition.

Basically any snippet of life, or the plot of some story-on-film, which lasts for a couple/several minutes, and is repeatedly committed to various films.

tldr

>I can't read a paragraph paragraphs are hard

>Matrix: Reloaded was bad meme

It's funny that I was away from this post and two guys were arguing over whether I'm reddit.
For the record, I had a reddit account mostly for porn about 5 or 6 years ago (when jailbait still existed) but deleted it when they got rid of jailbait and haven't been back since. I was on Sup Forums before and since.

I liked the movie up until it got so far up it's own butt that I didn't even know what I was watching anymore. Still way better than Revolutions, though.

>Bartofag
My nigga

The highway chase and chateau fight are both amazing action sequences in the second one. And fuck you I like the smith courtyard fight.

The third has the battle of zion.

The sequels are great. Not as great as the first as standalone films, but great as an expansion to and conclusion of the story. The Animatrix is also largely great as supplemental content. "Only the first is good" is a meme opinion for plebs to be honest.

Just youtube all the fights from the second one then watch the club scene and the climax of the third one.

Not that user but Ibfelt that kind of like the Star Wars prequels the matrix sequels had some good ideas with some shit awful execution. Sentient programs revelling against the machines, additional layers of control to reign in "the one", the defense of Zion with the cool hovercraft, etc... Instead we got a baffling pretentious "2smart4u" mess.

If you have time to waste shitposting here you have time to watch the sequels.

They are not as bad as people make them out to be.

this. Even though it's clear the first Matrix movie is the best, seeing 2 and 3 is pretty chill, in 2 there is a yuge car chase and some cool action, the ships are cool sci-fi too, rumbling round the fucked up earth subways, 3 is kinda like DBZ with the rediculous flying fight at the end, but everyone here thought the siege of zion with tons of robots vs human walkers wasn't awesome? It was more flawed for sure but still had some okay bits. And a decent ending, just drawn out a bit.

>muh only first matrix movie
Had some cool sci-fi scenes/crazy gunfights/action in 2 and 3
Not stellar but worth seeing for sure
At the time too these movies = lit

Matrix 8.5/10
Matrix Reloaded 7.5/10
Ratrix Revolutions 6/10

animatrix, that's it unfortunately

No.
