Rebirth

Lil Wayne was a good rapper from like 2000 to 2008.
start here.

pick one

Carter 1-3

Tha Carter III is pretty much his only good album.

2004-2009

da drought 3
dedication 2
carter 2 and 3
no ceilings

Don't listen to him if you want Eminem levels of technical rapping. Lil Wayne is more of a punchline rapper.

6 Foot 7 Foot is the best example of his punchlines.

carter 3 and nothing else fucking ever

Carter 2 > Carter 1 > Carter 3.

although the Carter 3 leaks/b-sides/outtakes might be better than all 3.

Carter 2 is much better what the fuck are you on about

I heard his song about Katrina and I really liked the lyricism, it felt really sincere.

while Wayne is mostly a punchline guy (although that poster's wrong about him not being technically skilled, at least in his prime), he'll occasionally hit on something really heartfelt and depressing.

this is really good.

Carter 3 and No Ceilings are his best projects

I think it's well past the point where we can say that he's easily one of the best rappers of all time. He's just kind of here now and didn't self-destruct. He always struck me as an interesting person.

He undoubtedly did many, many drugs.

I unironically love this song so much.
I listened to the Carter II and a few other projects, none of them stood out to me, but dated ass rap/rock song is amazing.

>he's easily one of the best rappers of all time
why though?

this is the type of shit that inspired young thug(the goat) and for that i have mad respect for wayne

Man, I miss when Nicki was more subtle in her sluttiness.

I'm not sure how you can listen to enough his stuff and not see it.

[Verse 1: Lil Wayne]
Howdy do motherfuckas, it's Weezy Baby
Niggas bitchin' and I gotta tote the (Cannon)
Listen close, I got duct tape and rope
I leave you missing like the fucking O'bannons
One hand on my money, one hand on my buddy
That's the AK-47, make his neighborhood love me
Bullets like birds, you can hear them bitches humming
Don't make that bird shit, he got a weak stomach
Niggas know I'm sick, I don't spit, I vomit, got it?
One egg short of the omelet
Simon says: "shoot a nigga in his thigh and leg"
And tell him "catch up" like mayonnaise
I'm the sickest nigga doing it, bet that baby
These other niggas dope, I'm wet crack baby
Yes, get back, get back boy, this a setback
Clumsy ass niggas slip and fall into a death trap
Them boys pussy, born without a backbone
And if you strapped we can trade like the Dow Jones
Wet em up, I hope he got his towel on
I aim at your moon and get my howl on
Some niggas cry wolf, I'm on that dry kush
And when it come to that paper I stack books
You heard what I said
I can put you on your feet or put some money on ya head
Life ain't cheap, you better off dead if you can't pay the fee
Shout out my nigga Fee
See every motherfucka at the door don't get a key
You're outside looking in, so tell me what you see
It's about money, it's bigger than me
I tell my homies: "don't kill him, bring the nigga to me"
Yeah, don't miss, you fucking with the hitman
Kidnap a nigga, make him feel like a kid again

Alright, downloading a bunch of stuff now, I'll guess I'll find out.

Okay, I hope you won't be disappointed by my recommendation :^)

I found his music relatable for whatever reason.

this

every time he features on a song he makes it better

Guerrilla Warfare

take the blue pill

2 songs into Tha Carter III and I understand the "greatest of all time" meme, this is way better than Kendrick and a lot of "classic" 90s rappers.

Any specific songs, albums, or tapes you found relatable? Or you a hood nigga?

I ain't gonna steer ya wrong on this one. Carter 1, 2, and 3 if you're in the mood for some poppy jams. Dedication 1 and 2, and most importantly No Cielings. Some people swear by Da Drought series, but it doesn't quite do it for me personally. Literally everything else in his discography is commercial garbage, but will earn you points with the plebs at a party. Don't even get me started with the trainwreck guitar albums

>Don't even get me started with the trainwreck guitar albums

Knockout is a classic, man.

Bleh, maybe if drugs are involved. To this day I still have memories of taco bell runs in the back of a taurus with his strained PROOOOOM QUEEEEN, PROOOOM QUEEEEEN blaring with the windows down

I really don't like what I've heard of Kendrick. I guess I'll have to give him a deeper listen because somebody suggested him to me in person. Apparently he's the big deal right now. I stopped listening to hip-hop a few years ago after I followed trap's rise.

Da Drought 3 is like eating cotton candy while walking on a cloud.

I hate Kendrick, but for the sake of conformity, I hope you find something you like.
Technically rapping doesn't impress me, I care more about the content.

this

I like when the content and delivery combine and get mucky. It absolutely makes me giddy the same way Dylan does.

carter 2 and 3, da drought 3, dedication 2, no ceilings
