Loftur Sigurðsson(dead 1681) who was captured by vigilantes with 120 sheep and 5-6 horses, all stolen. He was taken to the sheriff and beheaded. He lived in the wilderness with his wife, mistress and 4 children.
I've seen some shelters made by outlaws, stacked rocks that probably used to have a turf roof.

People would not travel unless they were in large groups due to fear of outlaws. Mostly just stories though, not nearly as common as people thought
