What the fuck

What the fuck.

This movie is just incredible.

The acting, the sets, the OST, the story, the pacing.

Shiiiiiet I was not expecting this to be so damn good

Are there more must watch retro sci-fi / cyberpunk movies?

Strange days
Fifth element
Existenz

Any scifi made in that 70s-80s era really

Those are all 90s movies

None of them come even close to Bladerunner's quality.

The original Alien and The Matrix are the only ones that come to mind and just maybe.

Total Recall
Robocop
The Terminator
Lawnmower Man
Akira
Dredd/judge dredd

Ok. Blade runner is regarded as one of the greatest sci fi films ever, I wasn't saying those others were on par, just in the same genre.

Hence the two separate statements...

nothing like blade runner unfortunately

Any word on the sequel?

Can't help but think they are going to fuck it up beyond belief.

If you liked the dark vibe and music of blade runner, check out The Keep.
it's literally nothing like Blade Runner, but...you might think it's cool.

otherwise this:except Lawnmower Man. that shit sucks. You're better off with Johnny Mnemonic, which is actually underrated as fuck. Oh it's retarded, but in a good way.

Strange Days is cool too.

No one knows, but the imdb has this.

>Will Deckard return?

>Ridley Scott stated "no not really although i would like to see him as a cameo"

great movie, doesnt need a sequel

...

yea pretty much nothing else is equal to blade runner

nice poster senpai

Why is it called Bladerunner? Not once is the name mentioned in the movie or book.

He is called a Blade Runner in the movie, its the police task force he belongs to that hunts down illegal replicants.

Is there anything I can do to stop falling asleep during this movie?
I've tried 3 times and never last longer than 30 minutes.

I'm pretty sure he was called a Brade Runna.

Originally it was called "Dangerous Day" when the script was written, but apparently Ridley Scott was reading a William S Bouroughs book that had the term Blade Runner in it, and he liked it a lot

so Sup Forums

do androids dream of electric sheep?

>Is there anything I can do?

Take a anti-faggot pill before you watch it.

Not true, Harrison Ford is confirmed as a returning cast member.
Also it just started shooting a couple weeks ago.

akira and ghost in the shell are the only films that come close and have a similar style

>retro
That's... an odd way to think of it.

Phrasing implies they're 70s or 80s movies.

Do you have some to spare, assbrother?
It's simply too boring. When does it get good?

Strange Days is really dang good. The other two are not as good by alot. But Blade Runner and Strange Days are great. Strange Days is very derivative of the Will Gibson Cyberpunk character Action Girl and Hackerman set up, which I really liked.

It was too long and drawn out.

The pacing was a mess.

The original Ghost in the Shell movie is basically a gorgeously animated love letter to Blade Runner.

Nah, just your terrible reading comprehension.
Accept it and move on. No need to shit up the thread

Blade Runner is a fucking awesome movie no doubt, but it really is rather bloated/meandering. Trimming it down 10-15 minutes would have made it GOAT.

if anything it was too short

Nah, there's not a moment of it which doesn't belong.

brazil

theres nothing like it

this is a good suggestion also the zero theorem

Nah breh, Gilliam's Brazil is not in the same vein, it's a fucking comedy and nowhere near as noir as Blade Runner

No this is the only one.

Try watching Red Dwarf.

the scene right before this where he's doing that voice and acting like some kind of awkward reporter is fucking weird.

anything vaguely inspired by William Gibson

Johnny Mnemonic especially, incredibly underrated cyberkino

I recommend that if you liked the movie you read the book.

Its great, Philip K. Dick was an amazing writer.

its dystopian. check out the zero theorem

its only a comedy because of his monty python british roots. and the fact that britain is a dystopian paradise

You should check out Equilibrium

12 monkeys is bladerunner but good

Huh, that's actually really good.

>>>/reddit/

I hope you're proud of yourself.

"HE SAY U BRADERUNNA" and " I need the old Bladerunner" are two mentions that come to mind.

No thats pretty much the only one

Not retro or noir, but pic related is also about the nature of the character's humanity.

...

Maybe Akira, but Blade Runner really is quite special.

Blade Runner is actually not good though.

>Johnny Mnemonic, which is actually underrated as fuck.

Big Time underrated.

When you turn 15

>tfw you're the only one who cant get into blade runner
I've tried multiple times over the years but I just can't endure more than a couple of minutes of it.

Welcome to the fandom OP.

Watch 2001 if you haven't already.

Very different from blade runner but one of the few sci-fi movies of the same caliber.

ADD millenials dont bandwagon a movie i like?

feels good, man

What are you 50? Because I'm 32.

This is true. It's too old.

Saying "that 70-80 era" after listing off some movies directly implies those movies are from that era you dipshit. You present it as the era you're talking about rather than an alternative one.

Don't try and shift the blame to reading comprehension when the problem is you just don't understand the english language very well.

Agreed. That being said, I'm glad Gosling is going to be the lead in the sequel, as long as he captures the autism of the Driver.

lol bro I'm 69

>Dont call out my terrible reading comprehension
Not him but its either that or youre retarded.
Either works in your case

I wouldn't classify his pedantry as a failure of reading comprehension.

With pants like those If he were to walk at the right pace it would appear as if he just glides around everywhere.

God bless the man, the diabetes took his feet but he still walks. So brave.

Isn't this essentially Trump America: The Movie?

see

see

nawt tue brite ar yew?

>all these Johnny Nmemonic shilling

are you people for real? its perhaps the worst acted movie I've seen, it's Tommy Wiseau tier

Akira and Ghost in the Shell.

fuck you nigga fifth element is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time

its so fuckign boring

>it's an "OP has never read a PKD novel before" episode

Please read The Three Stigmata, please and thank you. God Bless.

What the fuck does that has to do with Neuromancer?

Go be a sperg somewhere else.

Gibsonfaggots, please leave. He doesn't own cyberpunk, and he's not a particularly good author.

How fucking retarded are you? This entire thread is about how much of a hack Gibson is.

how come none's cited the expanse yet?
no "corporates before states", but close
no cyborgs, but enhanced humans
a detective, and an enquiry
miners on the asteroid belt
etc....
not blade runner ofc but definately worth the peek

>tfw writing a story about a very similar premise and have had writer's block for ages
You may have just saved my life, user.

blade runner ain't retro, it's atemporal

Blade Runner made the genre explode.
Matrix revived it.

Ghost in the Shell is pretty much Blade Runner + Matrix.
Akira is probably still better.

All the vibe is very good and stuff, but an android only wearing underwear howling and hunting down a cop kinda turn me off
