minimum wage is $18 where I am

I think it should be higher though

it should be higher.

where are you at?

But economy

If it was raised to $15 I might not get full-time anymore and would end up making the same per pay period that I do now

yeah but then food and rent will be higher anyway so? you'd gain nothing.

Thanks for restarting. I typed an entire reply and the thread was pruned literally right after.

"It's really not hard to find a decent paying job if you have even the slightest bit of worth ethic and a skill. I'm a cook at Applebee's, sounds shitty, and yeah comparatively it is shitty. But I make that $15 an hour you fantasize about. I've bee with the company exactly 1 year. It was my first full service restaurant job. I've worked in delis and SnS and even Taco Bell. They hired me on at $11.50 and I about jumped at the offer, never having been paid more than $8.50 in previous jobs. I took the opportunity and used it to better myself. I started in dish, learned to work the whole line and eventually prep. They introduced the hand cut bullshit and I was the one chosen to go to the class. Now I'm a certified "neighborhood expert" meaning trainer and am being groomed for management, if I decide to accept. I work 35-45 hours a week and that $15 hour rate.

Because I used the opportunity presented I now have a second job at Texas Roadhouse, a new and thriving company. They hired me as a broil cook/ meat cutter at $13 an hour because I talked the game. It's been 3 months and I'm now at $14 am hour. I'm 23, and started in fast food making $7.75 like any of you crybaby libtards whining about not being able to live off a job for 15 year olds. Difference is I worked for what I believed I was worth, I didn't just demand it."

So you agree everyone's wages should increase in the same fashion or just unskilled, uneducated minimum wage earners?

Rent doesn't have to go up unless the building you live in has to maintain a staff. Prepared Food for sure would go up

if minimum wage raises, EVERY job should raise. case in point: my union fought for years to get us a better hourly wage with the state. They finally gave it to us and then immediately passed minimum wage hikes like 3 months later. so its like i didnt get a raise at all.

Wait, where the FUCK do you live?

I'm work in SF and minimum wage there is like $13/hr and that is the single most expensive place to live in the nation.

if minimum wage goes up then ALL costs go up. its the economy stupid.

That's what I don't get about these tards petitioning for more money. They'll just replace you with robots or migrant workers. Why not petition for cheaper goods and services in your area instead? doesn't really matter I guess, you ain't getting shit you peons

I believe the base level should be raised, and any wages below that new level. Wages above that point are at the discretion of the employer/employee.

It will lead to more people being at minimum wage, but they are all on a liveable wage. It doesn't remove quality of life, only adds to it.

not america ,but converted to USD

The should be no minimum, there should be no maximum. Why interfere with voluntary interaction?

yeah but if everyone is now making $x dollars guaranteed then stores and landlords will raise prices accordingly. they know you can afford more so they will demand more. just look at the whole fiasco with federal student loans and colleges.

What careers are in most demand?
>straight white 20 year old, no criminal record
>about to have AA degree
what do?

No way! If the working poor have more money they might use it to improve their lives! I say cut minimum wage in half. The obscenely wealthy deserve that money anyway.

Totally agree. Why should some shithead dropout all of a sudden make twice as much but my wage stays the same. I worked hard to put myself through school and I had to grind to get a decent job so why am I not being rewarded? It's idiocracy. The stupid people have exponentially multiplied and are now the majority

I don't think people who want to do nothing should be paid more. Get an education and you will get more money. Some dumb Chick who dropped out of school wants 15 bucks an hour because it's not fair that she gets paid so little? Fuck you, you say smelly cunt. Go back to school and better yourself. You're not getting 15 bucks an hour to fuck up my order at the drive thru, then sink up the neighborhood with your sink weed

manual labor careers. skilled shit not AA or BA jobs. Plumber/Carpenter/Electrician

My point is if you rent out a multifamily home, the house is built. There may be occasional maintenance fees but they wouldn't be that frequent and the people you hire to fix things make well over minimum wage

Management. Either in retail or service.

Get a trade skill you lazy fuck.
Sorry your gender studies degree doesn't mean fuck all in the real world.

I'm not sorry.

I don't think you understand where I'm coming from. If the average yearly wage in your area is $x and is raised to $y, landlords WILL adjust to get that extra money. Happens all the time

Can you mother fuckers stop raising the minimum raise please, prices just raise and you should have noticed this. Fuck off you bunch of retards who don't know how the economy work

Op here, never said i was or wasn't for it. I was just restarting the previous thread, learn reading comprehension.

Well that's why I'm an engineer and not a business man

>Work in warehouse for a small but fast growing company
>Warehouse employees get 15/h
>Some would quit for a cozy Jewel job that paid the same amount
>We would lose maybe 10% of the current work force
>Only people looking to specifically get into the field (Greenroofing) would ever consider working there
>Projects would slow or even cease if we don't have the manpower
>At a minimum the company would be hurt at most it wouldn't exist anymore

Admittedly it is unskilled labor, but it is physically intense and does require some knowledge on plants/machinery.

No

I don't think you understand. Increasing the wage by more than double (current minimum wage in most states in 7.25) is going to increase COL as drastically effect inflation. It'll affect apartment rent increasing and the housing market being higher than what it is.

Seriously, small apartments can be rented for as little as 350-400 dollars a month. A cheap eco car will cost roughly 50 on insurance, ~80 dollars on gas, 100-150 ish on food, 80dollars for internet (basic cable is typically given with apartments but if not, who fucking cares when you have internet), ~25 dollars for a cheap phone.
That's 735 a month, and for shits, I'll round it to 800. Even at minimum of 7.25, that's livable. It's tight. But you can make it work if you don't blow your money on stupid shit you can't afford, like
>Muh gtx 1080Ti
>Muh Recaro seats in my Honda Civic

You can live MINIMALISTICALLY on MINIMUM wage. Connect the dots, faggot.

Stop being fucking awful with your money and being a lazy cunt, and you won't have money problems.

Let me put it this way, OP.
I JUST bought a house (I close in mid April) making 10.50 an hour, 80-85 hours every 2 weeks. I bring home about 700 dollars on the dime, and that's after claiming myself on my taxes.
I own a nice house, a used but nice Audi (2011 TT), I don't go hungry, I pay my bills on time, and I still have a margin to play/save with.

You have no excuse, other than wanted to be handed everything

That's odd, countries WITH NO MINIMUM WAGE:

Sweden
Denmark
Iceland
Norway
Switzerland

Are the same "socialistic" countries liberals use as examples in most of their arguments.

Liberals are morons.

Do you know what's going to happen when minimum wage increases to $15/hr? I'm going to walk in and take your job. You can't get "no onions" right, and you're crying for more money? No thanks. I'll work your shitty job, do a much better job than you, and have a ton less stress to deal with.

>last thread was deleted
as it fucking should have been. congratz user, you've just admitted to spamming

No it shouldn't.

we need to make our money worth something again, not continue to devalue it.

Minimum wage should be close to a liveable wage, which means from working a 40 hour job you should be able to afford rent/mortgage, a car, food and some minor entertainment.
In my area that's $1000 a month for rent, $80 in gas, $80 in car insurance, $100 for health insurance, $350 in food, $100 in utilities and $200 in entertainment, which comes out to $1910 after tax, which is roughly $2300 a month, or roughly 14.37 an hour.

So, probably somewhere near to that, at least in this area.

Some places rent is half that, so minimum wage there could be closer to $12

About half your country is non-white.

There is no way the USD will be valuable again.

Waiters and food joint workers dont do anything worth 20$/hour

>The pay is $3.75 an hour. You have 75 hour work weeks, but are billed at 38
>If you attempt to negotiate, you will be immediately terminated with no further discussion

Fuck regulation.

>Last thread was deleted so, should the minimum wage be raised to $15?

no where in this post did I state i was for or against anything. I'm not for raising the minimum wage, but why is it that the people most against this notion are the ones attacking the question the hardest. Calm down and learn 2 read cucks.

This.

but that won't happen because the second minimum wage goes up then costs will. You think Walmart is gonna pay $15 an hour for people and NOT raise prices on EVERYTHING?

Stop living in bumblefuck. You can't afford housing prices anywhere near a remotely interesting area.

>ME WANT MORE MUNKNEE FOR WORK!
>Ok user, we'll pay you more despite your labor not being worth it
Cost of living increases
>ME WANT MORE MUNKNEE FOR WORK!
>Ok user, we'll pay you more despite your labor not being worth it
Cost of living increases
>ME WANT MORE MUNKNEE FOR WORK!
>Ok user, we'll pay you more despite your labor not being worth it
Cost of living increases
>ME WANT MORE MUNKNEE FOR WORK!
>Ok user, we'll pay you more despite your labor not being worth it
Cost of living increases
>ME WANT MORE MUNKNEE FOR WORK!
>Ok user, we'll pay you more despite your labor not being worth it
Cost of living increases

The entire idea is based on flawed logic.

The truth is that the more money a person makes, the more money that person tends to waste. In the end, it won't make any difference in their lives.. except a negative difference in that they'll waste the money on drugs, junk food, etc.

If they want better, they should have to earn better. Giving people something for nothing is why our country is going to shit.

Current generation is littered with entitled, ignorant, spoiled little dipshits that don't grow up, they grow out.

The relative price increase is something like 3 cents on each item sold per dollar they could pay every single worker after taxes.

They will raise prices, but much much more than that, and then claim "but your minimum wage laws!" and it's 101% bullshit.

Automation will replace most jobs anyway. Prepare for socialism.

I'm not going to feel sorry for an user who doesn't want to either complete college or WORK for a higher position at their current job.

What do you want me to say?

Also, 10.50 an hour with 4k in my bank got me approved for up to 85,000 dollar house. my mortgage after insurance will be about 435 a month.

Again, work hard and get better with your money if you want to move out of your parents basement. I literally don't give two fucks for people who beg for money they don't earn.

>Expecting to live in good housing in a big city by the lake while working at mcdonalds

You may be the only resident of Bumblefuck

fucking bourg, pay the paper pusher at the top less so the labor workers at the bottom can get more.
>b-but muh capital
>muh influence over the lower class
Pay the workers what the work is worth, not what it's worth - capital.

Where the fuck is rent $350?
Rent is no less than $900 in the worst neighborhoods in Chicago.

That's assuming economics isn't fundamentally breaking as we get so insanely efficient at producing goods per capita. As production costs approach something close to zero, human labor value approaches zero as well, and our society is not set up to handle humans being literally worthless. I just hope our inevitable robot overlords will at least find us moderately interesting/entertaining and let us live.

Actually, prepare for a service-based economy (you know, the one the US has been working to transition to for, oh, I dunno.. 3+ decades now?).

There's a reason your factories are shuttering, your jobs are going overseas, etc. It's part of a plan by individuals who were smart enough to see what you're just now seeing, 40 years ago.

As computers do more, Americans will get lazier and lazier. They'll get unhealthier, and fatter, and be damn near immobilized by various ailments like diabetes.

Someone, who isn't a machine, will need to take care of all those useless, entitled, fat-fucks.

Maybe the one at the top should stop pretending to pay them and see how they like it on their income.

rent.com/illinois/chicago-apartments/cheap?WT.mc_id=23000

Your statement is false. Literally the first Google search for Chicago. First listed is 375. There you go, user.

srs m8? I live in Chicago and if you want to live with the niggers in englewood you can find stuff around 500. That was just a quick internet search I'm sure you can find a roommate to share a studio for 250 or something. 900/month is a studio apartment in upscale neighborhoods.

Cheapest houses in my area are 300,000, and those are shitty, tiny houses.

I can't afford mortgage, I did some math out, assuming I could make painful cuts and I just can't. I guess I can quit my job, say goodbye to my family and try to find a random job in the middle of nowhere, but then I'd be in the middle of nowhere, and I'd want to kill myself because of how painfully 'murica people tend to be in those areas.

I'd say roughly $8.50 to $9.00. The economy can't currently handle it being higher than that. At the same time we need to increase union power

So you double the minimum wage for those in starting positions. Do you also double the wages for someone already making $15 hr.? Should the guy making $30K a year get bumped to $60K? $100 to $200K? $5 million to $10M?

If everyone is a fat fuck who is servicing them?
How do the fat fucks afford to be fat fucks and be serviced?

You live somewhere where the democrats control shit. Cali?

Found the Bernie guy. You reap what you sow.

many states and cities are already over that for minimum!

>Implying you know what I fucking do for a living

I work outside as a field supervisor in the heat all day long at a private golf course in the south east, and I still get paid dick.
Don't assume I'm some pencil pusher.

owning should be cheaper than renting on a monthly basis or you're doing it wrong.

You must live in somewhere bumblefucky. If you live within 2 hours of any major city come back after you've tried living off of $9 an hour for six months.

and shut the fuck up until you have.

Damn...

I'm not sure I'd ever be desperate enough to live in those neighborhoods, but you proved me wrong.
Good on you, Sup Forumsro.

NY

>south

there's your problem. the south underpays EVERYONE

To fix America we just need to impose a cap on personal wealth and a giant tax on any traitorous expats.

All of the extra executive pay that they can no longer accept can be distributed to lower staff and would give a huge boost to the economy.

australia and canada have significantly higher percentage of whites and USD is worth 30% more than either and the top currencies in the world are from sand nigger countries

>ruining that poor girl's life because she didn't want to be a parent
That's dumb as fuck, do authorities really think she would know what to do if she wanted to get an abortion?

I say we should just link tax brackets to minimum wage, so that the maximum write-offs you can make are a ratio of minimum wage. Raise the minimum wage and raise the write offs. This would create a capitalistic clamoring to find out what the ideal minimum wage is.

Only issue is lobbyists would fight the tax law making this, not fiddle with minimum wage, because rich people are lazy.

There will be no reason to pay anyone for work that will be cheaper and more efficient once automated. That is the direction we have been moving toward. Nobody is going to pass up the chance to cut 90% of their workforce and gain 250% productivity. No human workforce can compete, no matter how little they are willing to earn.

>implying I'm even an Amerifat
The whole world and socialism doesn't run on your shitty political puppet show.

everything over the cap will just be shoveled into offshore accounts

But are you an Amerifat?

The same way they already do. Wealthy people don't actually do work, they invest what they already have in order to grow even more wealth.

Not everyone is useless. There will be exceptions.

As for expense, the US is migrating toward a socialist system. There's no avoiding it... in 20 years (max) your trucks and cars will be driven by machines, fast-food will be automated, wal-mart will only employ maintenance personnel, etc. Think of the industries that'll rattle: millions of jobs. Gone.

Agreements will be made. A portion of the earnings will become entitlements, checks every American receives simply for being American.

So why will some people still work, when they can sit on their asses and get a check for nothing? Because some people want more from life, some people have dignity and pride, some people aren't useless fucking fat pieces of shit.

First, 15 is too high, and ppl that want it are on drugs.

This story:

Hung out with the wrong crowd when i was in my teens, cant get a great job, have to work 2 lower tier jobs at 80 hours a week, having to take care of my father who cant take care of himself anymore, still making not enough to survive, after all bills are paid, not including food, leaves us with 350 a month for groceries and anything that might come up, car issues ect. If min wage was 10, it would make things better, but 15 is out of control.

Cost of living increases

Don't write machines off yet. Not maybe in the next 20 years, but the future of engineering, robotics and AI are totally unknown and potentially completely economics overhauling in 50-100 years.

You know nothing about economics. Stop.

The 15 is for the increasingly numerous areas that are prohibitively expensive to live in. 15 is probably too much for middle-of-nowhere middle-america.

I didn't write machines off. I'm saying that machines will replace 90% of the human workforce.

Sounds like what women do with all men

Straya cunt.

If you were aborted we wouldn't have to read your drivel.

And you wonder why Republican states are generally cheaper to live in than democratic states?

Taxes.
Can't live on what's around you? Blame your state politics. Not my fucking problem. Been trying to tell you liberal fucks for decades, but you don't listen. Then you'll just get higher wages, then once again, you'll be asking for 20 dollars an hour because the COL increased again. Go figure.

I think 90% is writing machines off. Seriously I think it's going to be 100% after enough time. Self driving cars is the next big thing. Doctors/laboratories datacenters that analyze transmitted data from a robot on the field are soon to come after. Creative fields aren't far out of the way either.

That's exactly what I'm saying, you numb motherfucker. The US will become socialist, whether Americans like it or not.

Entitlements. Monthly Checks of profit, shares for every American generated from automation.

In 30 years most Americans will be unemployed, living off of a monthly check. All Americans will be niggers.

Well, not all. Some people have pride, a desire for more, etc.

But most, no doubt.

You'll also have periodic events, probably biological, that'll trim the population. Slowly at first, then rapidly until it reaches a predetermined prime.

It's inevitable with automation. If all those illegal immigrants knew anything about tomorrow, they'd run like hell out of the US, not into it.

LOL at Spawn kill facebook post.

Australia doesn't even exist anymore, do you think I'm a fool?

>And you wonder why Republican states are generally cheaper to live in than democratic states

Supply and demand. The most expensive states are the most crowded.

Your lower taxes aren't possible without my federal contributions. You exist because my state pays more money to the feds than they receive. If that werent' the case, your taxes would have to be increased 10-15% or else shut-down of your dysfunctional government amenities.

Stop talking. You have such a puny view of things.

and working less... having more time to get a less shitty job, be a good citizen, spend time with family friends, or play vidja and get stoned.

Life isn't all about money young grasshopper.

Yes, you can't fool me with your foolery you fool.

All costs have already gone up.

You sound like an idiot. the initial premise is fine, but you take it to levels of stupidity that sean hannity would weep at.

I'll admit I've been bested, your tom foolery is simply too foolish for an oaf like me.

Studies show that working shorter work periods make you an overall more productive individual. You don't know what you're talking about.
