nah, it is just a wannabe 60s album. there is nothing about it that is worth returning for. also it only generated attention because it was done in a slightly slicker way than a lot of wannabe 60s albums. but it still just another average album that tries to sound like something from the 60s...
sounds so flat and uninteresting.
at least currents has him step out of that regurgitated, tired and uninspired sound a little, to really push something interesting out.

Elephant six is a really good bet, yeah. Specifically the apples in stereo and early of Montreal (mainly Cherry Peel and Adhils Arboretum are the most beatles-y. Satanic Panic is too but it's a tad more electronic).
