thats an autist sword, but ok

>Buying a cheap pattern welded wall hanger on amazon for >200

As long as it's not a fucking katana

swords are cool. but they can be autistic. just dont pose in a pic with it to look edgy and having sword is fine

Its like a gun.
Some autisic poeple like swords.

as long as you dont wear a fedora and carry it around it public.

just hang it on your wall for least autismoness

Katana are superior weapons for superior warriors.

It's not at all like a gun.

No more or less autistic than guns.

I think that having a sword is like having a gun; it's all god to own it but if you don't at least know a bit about how to use it then it's super cringey.

Get into HEMA, learn how to actually fence. Then you'll also have a pretty good bullshit detector when it comes to buying swords too, since you'll know more about what makes a sword worth investing in.

Everything on this site is autistic, so you have nothing to worry about.

Nice Damascus steel

I'd recommend you only get one anything over that if you're not a historian will be viewed as autistic
Buy a good quality sword not a cheap Chinese wall hangar. You're only gonna get one sword make it a beauty

Swords are only stupid when people take pics of themselves looking wannabe edgy.
Cutting shit up is fun

If it looks like a machete or something menacing is gud, if look like you got it from the local weaboo (spikes, katana, long sword, edgy pattern) don`t.

>He wants this particular sword because of Game of Thrones

Autism

It's 129. Review Comments differ but the general consensus with some exceptions is that it is actual Damascus. Comments also differ on whether it's rat tail or full-tang. That's about 50/50.

I don't remember anyone in the show having a sword like the one in Ops pic

if you have a normal sword(not from anime/fantasy) and its just in your house as decoration then its ok. if you use it for roleplaying or taking photos with it its really autistic.

It's made of pretend Valyrian Steel

Automatically autistic.

I've never seen the show. Just think the sword is cool.

>roman gladius
>game of thrones
>pick one

Lots of good tips in this thread. Consensus seems to be it's OK if you have one and don't pose with it. Kind of how I felt too

Who gives a fuck man if you think the swords cool buy the sword. That being said if you go around telling people you're a duellist everyone's gonna laugh and think you're a fag

Can't tell if you're joking or genuinely this stupid

As killing tools and objects of defense, they're remarkably practical. Aesthetically, of course they look awesome. If you're asking whether or not you'll look cool with a sword on your back as a fashion statement, the answer is a resounding no. At least not on this side of the apocalypse.

Only cool if you're genuine about collecting, researching history, and seriously learning HEMA. Autistic if you just wanna swing a cheap katana around.

Go away, nick. Get off of Sup Forums

OP isn't the autistic one in this thread it's you

Nah. There can be more than one autistic person per thread.

A gun can actually be useful though.

They're cool when just for stationary display.
The moment you'll grab one, you're autistic.
80% of people would graciously accept the moment you'll start explaining, if you said "Asian/EU medieval/African" really briefly, instead of real complex information.

OP it makes you autistic. Even if you actually use the damn thing. Pic related, the nodachi I use in martial arts tournaments and the katana is a fucking display piece. Don't start down the path of autism

>Estuans interius
>Ira vehementi

Remember the one where the blade broke and stabbed him?

Good times

what?

I suppose they're wooden, there's no •Martial arts• tournament, having to do with katana duels or techniques.

just watched that again earlier

nevermind, googled it. Kek

No the nodachci is steel, weapons forms use real (edgeless) weapons. You don't want to know how much time it took to dull that

Swords are cool. it's just the people who are buying them are autistic

Swords are perfectly fine. It's many of the people that fawn over them that are autistic.

*nodachi
damn finger slipped

Automatically autistic, yes.

If they're made out of steel, in which specific MA are you using them for?

depends on whether or not you think they're better than guns.

This.

Trips!

Swords are pretty much always cool. It's just a lot of the people who buy them that are autistic, not the swords themselves. I have two (one of them is even a katana) and I am only mildly autistic at most.

Also,
Even karate uses very rarely the bo

>Actual Damascus

No such thing. Nobody really knows how to produce Damascus steel without it coming out shitty.

I have an axe and a machete to cut off the grass and weeds from my backyard. If you have one just to have it hang it on the wal, then yes, you are an autist.

Trips confirm, glorious Nippon steel folded thousands of times can defeat any enemy!

>inb4 learn a real martial art
Its what is in my area, and I'm well aware that very few skills here transfer into real fights. I just enjoy the excercise and company.

Depends on the type and why you're purchasing it (and I suppose price tag would play a part but that likely stems from why you're buying it).

If you're buying a nice sword because you like collecting, that's not really autistic. Granted it's not considered a super normal hobby but if you've got money to burn why not.

If you're buying it to learn how to actually wield a sword as a hobby, I'd say you're leaning towards autistic but at the same time there are martial arts that use swords so it's a decent hobby,

If you're buying it to learn how to wield just off on your own with no idea of skill beyond just swinging it around AND think you're actually dangerous with it you're pretty autistic. If you swing it around for fun but understand that you'd be pretty much useless trying to fight someone with it then that's not autism, you're just an idiot but that's okay.

Buy a sword cause you like it. Hang it as a decoration. Use it as a conversation piece time to time: cool.

Carry it around, train to use swords, brag about your sword skills. Watch anime. Wear a fedora.

Autist.

I have two swords. They were worn in world war 1 by my family. They were passed down. They hang under my family coat of arms. Im telling you about it because its relevant.

Thats the difference.

Ok, real.

If you like it and you want it and you can afford it without sacrificing food for it then go for it just don't be a faggot about it and wear it openly at Costco like an autist

alex you're a fag

Yeah its a great time, had a tournament here in town this weekend

He said for FORMS and that they didn't have live edges. No sparring involved.
When I was studying Tang Soo Do we did forms with staffs. Later on you learned how to use other weapons and forms with them as well.
I was under the impression they did use live edges when doing forms at testing, but I may be wrong.

Who cares? It's not like you got any friends to worry about

You're all using the whole set while in combat?
Sounds hard, too much pressure even when compared to karate

If you buy a sword, atleast buy a mideval european sword, not some weeb shit like a katana.

...

if you want it for utility purposes like shtf situation, home defense or chopping shit up for a gay yt vid, then that is a really bad choice especially if you aren't experienced in handling swords. that round handle is going to fuck you over if you try to chop something. the gladius is primarily a thrusting weapon.

for actual utility purposes if you intend to defend yourself for whatever reason then you'd probably want a pole of some sort. halberds are badass.

if you insist on buying a blade then i recommend a kukri.

Anything from zombietools is certifiably great. Getting a weapon is like getting a tattoo, don't go cheap or you'll look like a dick.

It is easier than saying "steel similar to Damascus steel in appearance" each time you make reference to the new steels made to emulate Damascus.

Only if that is real Damascus steel

I don't understand what you're trying to say
this. There is no weapon sparring unfortunately

yes if you fesnce with them.

Yeah, I live in their town.

Good guys, but in all honesty they're kinda spergs.

If you don't know what you're doing with a blade (as most autistic weebs are want to be) then use one of those.

If you do know what you're doing, pick up an albion.

Cool

Autistic
>To show everyone your L33t sword skills
>Buying a sword from a television program
>Placing a sword as conversation piece/décor, with no history of the sword or any significance other than just being a cheap sword.
>Also owning and using a sword for its intended purpose: self defense(unless your a felon and can buy guns)
I have a friend who collects swords and weapons, god help any burglar or intruder because he sleeps next to a functional mace and has experience using it. Highly unlikely he would ever use a sword considering he has guns and maces are the far superior close combat weapon.
>pic related cool sword

>he isn't secure enough with himself to own a katana

Never mind him. I think everyone without autism knew what you meant the first time.

>Can't**

Automatic autism. What reason is there to own a sword unless you're super wealthy and make a museum out of your house.

> "ooooohhhh, it just got me Odell"

Honestly, think about it. Swords were big when guns didn't exist. Cannon fire and hand to hand combat was what was needed to survive, and for a time, swords were an amazing balance of offense and defense.

Today, however, this is not the case. A decent pocket knife and a firearm are what you need to truly protect yourself on today's society. Using a sword today in modern society would be laughable. Movies have taught us that swords as a viable weapon in society is cool.

Unless you've been secretly trained your entire life and break bad like Donnie Yen, stick to firearms,or a rape whistle.

>implying you need super wealth in order to afford a sword
What third world shithole do you live in?

>learning how to swordfight in the year 1200+817
>not super autistic

It's possible to have a sword as an ornament/decoration and not be autistic depending on the rest of your furnishings, but using one or posing with one is super gay

Did you fucking piss your bed? You're literally autistic aren't you?

having a cheap sword in your living room with no significance is pretty gay too

yeah a cheap Chinese piece of shit is pretty gay but an antique with a history and story can be pretty cool.

That actually looks like sweat stains from furious ass fucking because he's a faggot. Don't take a black light to that shit.

i smell trips

Damascus steel is garbage. Don't buy it' they are charging 3 times what it is with.

Okay yeah, what about claymores? Those are pretty cool

There is literally no reason to own a sword if it is not sturdy enough to spill someones intestines without breaking. Also the gladius is objectively the best sword, if its not some sketchy gimmicky thing like the op posted.

I personally think a claymore is more autistic than a katana but that's just me.

I want this right here.

I dunno, I always had a thing for great swords, zweihanders are pretty cool too imo

/Thread

The fucking weebs made any chance of having sharp objects not meant for the sole purpose of cutting food autistic. Do what you want user, collect them swords, just don't turn into a weeb along the way.

Oh yeah they're cool, but just give yourself a mental image of some virgin edgelord from Sup Forums swinging one around. That's all I meant, really.
