ITT: People who did nothing wrong

>Ruled the Imperium with a firm grip
>Atreides were allowed to have a paradise society in their planet of Caladan
>Likewise, Harkonnens were allowed to rule with iron fist on Geidi Prime
>Neo-Feudal society, occasionally to pay fiefs to Emperor
>Allotted allocations of spice throughout galaxy
>Negotiated with Spacing Guild
>Deposed because "muh prophecy"

The emperor got exactly what he deserved by orchestrating and actively participating in the downfall and ruin of house atreides simply because he felt that Duke Leto was to popular of a man with the Great Houses

he did everything wrong though:
>allowed himself to be cucked by the Bene Gesserit who gave him 5 daughters and no male heir
>wasted the imperial treasury
>relaxed Sardaukar training and let them become complacent
>betrayed the noble Duke Leto, a close relative, just because of paranoia over how popular he was
>trusted an 800 lb pederast with a massive conspiracy that could undo him
>didn't take control of spice production himself or position House Corrino to oversee it, instead delegating it to a third-tier merchant House
>didn't exterminate the Fremen when he had the chance
>consistently ignored reports that Maud'dib was a threat

No green text explanation needed.

Incompetence, sure but surely not evil. I mean he was hardly comparable to Sheev.

Also don't forget, the moron lands his capital ship on arrakis pretty much giving up his major advantage over to the fremen of ya know, being safe in orbit

He would have been fucked anyway. Paul won because he could destroy all of the Spice with a snap of his fingers and the Guild knew it. And since they were so dependent on the Spice they would turn the Emperor over to Paul themselves rather than risk seeing their entire organisation destroyed in a heartbeat.

Oh yea I agree about Emperor shadam being fucked. But he made the decision to land before he ever knew who Mau'dib really was or how far Paul would be willing to go. Prior to the revelation he was frustrated that the fremen were fighting back as well as they were and it seemed like he wanted to do some type shock and awe landing his carrier palace ship

he didn't create any of that
that was the system for thousands of years before him

I know he didn't create them, all he did was continue the status quo (which was FAR from imperfect).

paul was literally the perfect human, all others must bow

>Maud'dib
>settles down with wine by the fire to read Manual of Maud'dib for the hundredth time
>aww yiss

>allowing evil to flourish
>allowing an obese pervert an entire pervert to do with as he wishes
>not ruling the galaxy benevolently and ensuring the survival of humanity as a whole
Golden path when

liking boys isn't perverted
wtf
>ywn argue with your mentat then dine with your boipussy

>betrayed the noble Duke Leto, a close relative, just because of paranoia over how popular he was

Leto was going for the throne though.

>trusted an 800 lb pederast with a massive conspiracy that could undo him

Baron was easily disposable and deniable

>didn't take control of spice production himself

Landsraad would throw a shitfit if he did that

>didn't exterminate the Fremen when he had the chance

Until Maud'dib, they were tribal hicks who raided Harkonnens because they were shitty rulers and didn't really affect spice production.

>all he did was continue the status quo
You mean like nine out of ten of all monarchs throughout history? And the lore of the books if I remember. The ones who don't maintain it are murdered or become famous.

>implying shota was his only vice

Reading the book now and it's based as fuck, is the movie worth watching?

>Emperor
>Empire useless without Navigator guild

He was born cucked.

>tribal desert hicks conquer the galaxy

Anyone else annoyed by how OP Herbert made the Fremen with his only excuse being "It's the spice"?

yes, as long as you go in with low expectations and accept it as its own thing and not an actual Dune adaptation.
Enjoy the aesthetic, the costumes, the hammy acting, and Sting in a thong. Don't sweat that they missed the whole point of the books.
Also make sure you watch the remastered edition

>desert hicks conquer three continents
Anyone else annoyed by how OP God made the Muslims with his only excuse being "It's the Prophet"?

...

not really, they had a lot of advantages that makes it understandable
>absolutely brutally efficient and conditioned by a hundred generations of the worst conditions a man could survive in
>a borderline god leading them that can predict the future
>total unswerving loyalty to Paul
>a massive invincibility myth surrounding them that demoralized their foes
and most importantly
>the Guild in Paul's pocket meaning that no House could transport troops or reinforce each other against the Fremen hordes who could pick off each planet one by one

It's not the Fremen who were OP, their victories were enabled by the (((Navigators Guild))).

legitimate question, where does this Sup Forums meme of (((doing this bullshit))) come from?

arabs overran the world after muhammad united them

supposedly there's a firefox addon which ads ((())) to jewish names, dunno if true

>Allowing evil to flourish
What would you have him do in running an ENTIRE galaxy?
>allowing an obese pervert an entire pervert to do with as he wishes
He gives each House full autonomy over a certain world, he can't police EVERY world (which ran in the thousands if I'm not mistaken).
>not ruling the galaxy benevolently and ensuring the survival of humanity as a whole
This isn't Star Wars, he cannot rule 'benevolently' but he made do with the system he was brought up to believe in and continue.
>Golden path when
Agreed.

This, tbqh.

>Fremen survived Arrakis conditions which are said to be the most harsh
>Spice grants prescience and in some cases access to genetic memory
They were not OP, it made sense actually.
The only thing I would say is Fremen defeat Sardaukar a bit TOO easily in open battle; it would have been more sensible for Fremen to best Sardaukar via guerilla tactics or Shai-Hulud.

well you have to bear in mind that the Sardaukar were so used to shield fighting, as soon as they were unable to use them on Dune they were completely out of their element. Like this was the cornerstone to melee fighting in all of the rest of the Imperium for generations so they were instantly fucked once they had to rely on nothing. Doesn't help that shield-fighting trains to you have artificial delayed reflexes and focus on feinting and slow attacks.

hahaha, this video is fantastic, thanks
