What's the point?

What's the point?

A small amount of loneliness but a hell of a lot of freedom, you got two legs...walk anywhere, two arms? Well you got a fighting chance at anything and the tools to do it.....go forth user go take life from behind and fuck it in the ass, good day to you user

so poetic. so graceful. Well put & very motivating. thanks user

There isn't.
You must breath your meaning into this world, and patiently feed that meaning till it consumes your fatigue in a blaze of rage and joy.
Thus you become the master of yourself.

To ask what the point is.

The point is to fuck bitches, make money, and smoke trees.

Hard work will set you free

Victor Frankle and other logotherapists share the beliefs that the meaning of life is different for every man but falls generally under 3 categories. To succeed by societal standards, to succeed in love, or to suffer an unavoidable suffering.

The real point is to have kids and prolong human life but nobody really knows. Maybe to be the best or outlive everyone from highschool

On the other hand Freud believed that the meaning of life was to find happiness in whatever you could, a subset of the principle of pleasure.

>Born just in time to watch a new black death wipe out all of South Asia and China.

Now, nihilists believe that there is no point but I find this answer to be lazy. If there is no point then what is the point of living at all? Perhaps to appease some god? To make sure that you can still get into heaven because you didn't commit suicide? Well by that argument then your reason to live is to do good by your religion, this negating your nihilism. Any true nihilist, I feel, would be dead by now if they truly believed there was no point to living.

The point is to solve each problem like a puzzle, level up, defeat your demons, pick a love interest, and sire protegees to aid you in your quest to take over this earth

Modernists believe that the meaning of life is to advance scientifically and mathematically to work towards some sort of universal truth that is, as of this moment, beyond human comprehension. They call this the super-meaning and it is a believe shared by Frankle. Postmodernists believe the opposite. They believe that what is true is only what a majority of the masses agree is true. They also believe that science and mathematics hinder human kind far more than they advance it. They argue that, because language is self referencial, meaning can not be described because it would only lead to more uses of the word meaning.

>tfw you accept the mystery

And then there's eMail

That's the belief of old philosophers. The problem with that theory is, if people just need to procrate and raise their young, why don't more people commit suicide after their children move out? Why isn't all meaning lost once the children leave the nest? Surely people still find reason to live after this, so psychologically we can eliminate that as a possibility for the meaning of life.

The first people to write these ideas were logotherapists. One of the first, if not the first, logotherapist was Victor Frankle, a Holocaust survivor. Putting his work beside the man who killed his wife and tortured him daily is insulting. You should be ashamed.

the point is being afraid to die. Everybody I know complains about the stresses of life, and yet nobody wants to die. For some reason, they all still want to live.

A point is not required.

>two selfs
>spiritual and rational
>some use spirit to find meaning in life, but it itself accomplishes nothing
>some use reason to accomplish, but reason argues no that there is no meaning
>don't keep them seperate
>Your goal in life is to connect the two selves into one wholesome being
>learn higher concepts of philosophy and science, listen to your feelings and connect with nature.

Says the guy who severely misspells his name. Get off your fucking high horse. None of this shit matters

buuump

what's the point of bumping?

To be happy

If life is inherently painful, why should I cause more suffering to my relatives by killing myself? Read schopenhauer

any reason to be happy will eventually fade
to be happy without reason is insane
only the knowledge that pain is the core reason that kept all living things alive is eternal, and that thought is depressing

>To be happy without reason is insane

Thats ok

true, but you can't voluntarily become insane.

To be, is to understand, and to insight conflict. Turn away from what you think is wrong, embrace what is right. Mold yourself and fuck everything else in the way.

Anything is possible.

The meaning of life is up to the individual in my opinion.

Maybe the meaning to you is religion, and praying to god. Maybe it is a family, or the want to find a person to love you and raise children with. Maybe the meaning is to get money and buy and do luxurious things. Maybe it is all of those things, or none of them.

The point is, the meaning of life is not concrete. Don't let anything hold you down, do what you want to do. If you are happy playing video games, browsing Sup Forums and jerking off everyday and find no problems with it, then don't let anyone else tell you it is wrong. But if you would wrather be with a girl and working a high paying job, strive to get there.

If you aren't born physically or mentally handicapped, then you are just as capable as any other successful human.

go out and achieve, whether it is fame, love, money, religion, it doesn't matter. Do what make you happy. Anything is possible.

This

Actually, there are some drugs that can cause insanity.
Not that it would make you happy, but it would be voluntary.

there should be a caveat mentioned.anything is only broadly possible. the individual is limited to a capacity. there is no way Stephen Hawkins will become a world renowned painter

happiness without reason is insanity
insanity includes but is not limited to happiness without reason

got any drugs that permanently open the dopamine whatever channels? permanently insanely happy?

There is no such thing as God. There is no Messiah, there never fucking was. No Spirit, No afterlife. No Heaven, No Hell, and no Satan. There is only Nature. There is only the mind. You are your own God,
controller of your own destiny.

Unfortunately no, but supposedly there was at least one study where electrodes were implanted in the pleasure centers of a mans brain, allowing it to be triggered at will.
The study was called "Septal stimulation for the initiation of heterosexual behavior in a homosexual male"
