Are all those world-famous hit albums really the best there are or are you people just casuals? I doubt this would be the case with any other genre. Was hiphop just lucky that its greatest artists were among those who achieved global fame and made millions of dollars?

I think they got world-famous because it's the best, not otherwise.

Why do you think this meachism works for hiphop when it doesn't in other genres?

*mechanism

let me guess the average hip hop fan

>insecure
>social anxiety
>crippling fear of embarrassment/rejection
>only things that interest you are music, fapping, maybe fashion, and shitposting
>besides school or work all you do is browse the internet or lay around
>anything that doesn't provide instant gratification seems too hard and/or not worth it

that's just Sup Forums m8

Look at the vast majority of these albums: many were released in the early 90s when hip-hop wasn't popular or selling millions. Some of them are, but I don't think popularity was a big part of most of the choices in this thread.

You're probably just fucking around but I couldn't care less. Listen to a couple of these records you've never heard about and you might learn a thing or two.

Because the fanbase it's different from other genres, duh.
Hip-hop it's easy to promote, you can just throw a lose single with radio appeal and people who like the genre will listen to your work, and if it's good, they will say so, if it's bad, you can just continue to release radio songs and get rich.
