Legitimately one of my favorite albums.

There is just nothing like it, not even the other Mr.Bungle albums...

is that the Red Hot Painters

i never got mr bungle.

not 20 years ago, and still not now.

Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka

It's a tight band.

I don't HATE hate them but I have a distaste for anything Patton since he fucked up Faith No More.

Faith No More was Patton's side project when Mr. Bungle was going on.

I never got too into FNM.

Grandpa leave

>Patton's side project
It was never his anything. He wasn't a founding member and even though Chuck wasn't either he was the one that originally propelled the band to moderate stardom.

I meant that when I said side project.
It was work he did on the side.

Why do so many bungle fans seem to dislike FNM?

Love em' both personally

>caring about the number of listens an artist gets on a streaming service
abysmally normie of you, damn

>only 61k monthly listeners on Spotify

That is abysmally low, damn.

I don't dislike them. I just never got into them.
Also, they only have one album with Trey Spruance, and Mr. Bungle have three.

>""""people"""""on Sup Forums are still pretending to like the Chuck albums
what if they aren't joking

apparently the autist deleted his post and reposted it. so here

I got into FNM in the early 90's when I was in 6th grade, didn't discover bungle until 1999.

The thing is nothing Patton does is constant. It's always something different and bizarre.

I don't get how people like Bungle but dislike FNM. It's the same pattern with no consistent style.

Angel Dust is my fav. But King for a Day is 100% different, just like California is 100% different from Disco Volante.

Just like each Fantomas album is completely random.

>reposted it
Mistyped something.

>caring about the number of listens
I just wish they were more popular, they deserve it

Tomahawk have a fairly consistent sound, but that's about it.
I wonder if Nevermen will make another album.

>he fucked up Faith No More.
???

Angel Dust is an incredible leap from the funk metal corny shit from The Real Thing, and its mostly Patton/Gould stuff.

>I meant that when I said side project.

Yeah at first, but you can tell he was the creative force behind FNM after The Real Thing.

Angel Dust on had none of the similar styles of poppy funk that their earlier stuff had. So you can tell on The Real Thing he was kinda like "Sure, I'll join"

Then on Angel Dust "Hold up, let me take the reins here."

i happen to FUCKING LOVE those dark sounding bootlegs from the euro tour for Disco Volante, everything sounds raw and dirty, most are recorded in tape:

youtube.com/watch?v=9eLVLnsCgq8

California bootlegs are all digital and sound like shit, all brill and screechy and with boomy bass.

Oh yeah, was gonna mention Tomahawk. Was thinking the same thing though, that's the only project of his where you "expect" them to sound a certain way.

As a result I couldn't get into Anonymous much. Very weird since I know to not expect anything from Patton.

by far the worst bungle album. disco volante and their self titled are way better, Sup Forums loves it because it is accessible but slightly different. same reason they love trash bands like radiohead and neutral milk hotel.

Part of making good music is making it unique while still decently accessible.

There's no way it's the worst. It's by the the most complex album they've released.

The layers and texturing of almost every song is mind blowing. It might not be as dark and demented, but it's pretty damn good and all over the place.

i share this opinion. California is extremely well done, but sounds (both compositionally and productionwise) contrived. Disco Volante and ST sound both alive and chaotic.

Same
I like King For A Day best, I like almost every song on it, which hardly ever happens with any album. I kind of wish they did another with Trey Spruance

Nah dude.
Disco Volante is my favorite too, but the way California blurs the line between rock arrangement and sound collage is really wonderful.

I like KFAD (pretty much all FNM) but Angel Dust is my #1

Everything about it is bizarre and amazing.

Like Land of Sunshine was made with fortune cookie fortunes and scientology questionnaire.

Caffeine was written when Patton was up for days on caffeine binges.

RV has super mario underwater music.

Malpractice was said to be about a woman who is addicted to surgery because she likes the feel of the doctor's hands inside her body.

Just twisted shit.

Disco > Cali > s/t

you seem to be a fan. did you hang out in the ipecac forum in the early 2000s? shit was tight as fuck, got exposed to lots of interesting music.

I find it very hard to rate them like that.

They're all amazing for diff reasons. I guess it depends on your expectation of them, but I guarantee you if they regrouped and made an album today it would be equally mind blowing, but a totally different sound.

It's a brilliantly confusing album. Even the cover with the swan and then all the meat on the back.

Retrovertigo makes a 10/10 album an 8/10. their other albums dont have a radio friendly bummer like that.

>Retrovertigo
literally the best song in the album

Yes! I still have my Ipecac shirt.

I was on the forums for a while maybe until 2004-2005.

Loved all the stuff Patton did, Kaada/Patton was good too. ISIS, and others. Definitely a good place to find interesting music.

Angel dust is one of the best albums of all time

Hell yes, Retrovertigo+++++

Air Conditioned Nightmare is very high up there too.

its boring. Bungle can be anything, but boring, thats a super borefest that takes itself too seriously.

whats with these retroplebs?

Angel Dust is definitely in my top 5 favorite albums ever. I'd have my walkman on me in school and would listen to it on repeat.

cool shit. never got into the patton projects, just didnt care, except the first 2 fantomas albums. but i liked to hang out in the forums trolling people and getting cool music. i got Shellac and Uzeda there, also Arab on Radar.

Because it's a good song? Not everything has to be Girls of Porn or My Ass is on Fire.

youtube.com/watch?v=wm8TNasUjVk

here is some next level shit.

these are good songs too.

i reckon retrovertigo is a good song. but its not a good bungle song, its too straightforward.. i fucking bet trey didnt have any hand into that shit. oh just checked the credits, its credited to dunn alone. dunn is super fine with experimental jazz, but hes just boring when trying to do a "proper" song.

Who here /GoodbyeSoberDay/ masterrace?
The chanting/metal section towards the end is one of my favorite musical moments.

>"but hes just boring when trying to do a "proper" song."
Have you even listened to that MadLove album?

Me either. Never will.

Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka-Chaka-chaka

What year is it?

listen to gamelan from bali.

It's definitely a highlight of the album.

And anyone who has yet to hear Mondo Cane should do so. It's excellent.

Nice, I'm enjoying this.
