It has in the past yes. By the Russians etc. I think the city has been completely destroyed 3 times, badly damages 6-7 times.
Mostly because the royal family had a massive castle here, Johannisborg. One of the strongest fortifications in Sweden.
But now we are bigger than ever. 120 000+ people live here.

The royal family had moved to Stockholm and abandoned the caste to some low ranking lord.
All funding was cut and it decayed.
In 1719 the Russians attacked with massive forces and burned Norrköping city down to the ground. Again..
1720 people started taking the now useless castle apart and used it for rebuilding the city.
