Fucking dropped. He was at least 3rd best in that scene with a much stronger sense of melody than cobain or vedder

This.
In terms of songwriting, the grunge power ranking was pretty clearly:
>AiC
>Pearl Jam
>STP
>Soundgarden
>...
>Nirvana
He's not actually grunge tho
all these new grunge bands that are coming out dont really bring anything new to the sound.
i mean i enjoy some blur or oasis from time to time, but overall youre right especially for grunge
i actually hope britpop or something along the lines of it comes back
fuck man the music scene here in britain is so fucking boring right now
AiC is my favourite but no way is AiC, PJ and STP above Soundgarden in songwriting. Thats their most famous characteristic, compared to say, AiC who focuses on loud and nasty songs which hit hard emotionally.
Compare Dam that River with something like Somewhere or Mind Riot or Jesus Christ Pose. Nitpicking here but you get the idea.
>Brother, Got Me Wrong, Am I Inside, Nutshell, Don't Follow, No Excuses, I Stay Away
"grunge" has already been revived, the time is ripe for a nu metal comeback
You cant just ignore innovative songwritting. The songs you posted are mostly acoustic and some backup singers/strings, which isnt really pushing it. Excellent performances yes, but not outstanding songwriting.
no pls no
80s speed metal :^)
if you're being ironic, i ain't laughing
if you're serious, kys
Blur is pretty good
I wish more records sounded like Beneath the Remains
One can only hope.
