Because the pump needs more energy than the wheel can generate, retard.
The water wheel can't generate enough energy to run the pump.
trips of truth
but how do you know that? have you ever tried it?
Technically if you could create a pond deep enough, in a vacuum, to create enough pressure, the water could flow up the pipe itself...but I would need to do the maths...
true this has never been tried and there's no way to know if we don't try
Have you ever had a crank flashlight?
That's essentially sticking a straw tall enough to reach space in the ocean.
don't be a retard
a non-zero amount of energy is lost from friction against the sides of the tube, friction against the wheel's axle, plus the fact that the wheel wouldn't capture 100% of the water.
if you lose any energy anywhere, you're fucked and your pump stops working
plz don't be retard
...
Why not put it where there is a stream already
OMG such awesome
many good
Even if the water wheel is 100% efficient and the pipe frictionless, you still lose energy in the operation of the pump which produces heat.
what if we lube the inside of the pipe before doing it?
lube =/= 0 friction
And if we take a lot of lube?
The water would cool the pump, you dumb fuck
Law of diminishing returns
This is a good thread.
The technical term is "over unity"
But add and additional generator on the drain.
Why not just use a natural waterfall?
because you would have to have a 1 - 1 energy conversion ratio, and even then its just going to be there, no infinite power
That's what your mom said.
She really wanted it. What can I say?
The mechanical effort to lift the water up is greater than the energy generated by the water turning the turbine. A better design is two ponds one above the other. Solar panels pump water up in the day with the excess diverted to the grid and the turbine runs at night giving out free electric. Only for the same to happen the next day. Sort of like a water based energy battery.
what if you had multiple waterfalls? the top one flows down has multiple water wheels then falls into another resovar of water and continues the cycle? with waterwheels in the pipe to recapture energy from the moving water in the pipe
I get the idea you're being serious. If so.
