whatever you do dont buy any shitters like daniel wellington or some cuck macy's or sears sold quartz fashion watch

solve all your problems, buy one GMT and one speedmaster.

I've had a seiko 10 years now. Keeps good time and it has lasted. I'd get it over anything else. My dad has one he bought in japan in the 70s that is still perfectly functioning as well.

Apple watch

Save for a rolex and buy a beater in the meantime. A citizen or seiko is good. Go for something titanium.

I have an Eco drive. It's pretty solid. I enjoy the digital and analog display, because sometimes I'm just too fucking braindead to figure analog out, and you can set the digital display to date, a different timezone, or stopwatch/timer/alarm.

Ew.

Seiko is a pretty good solid choice user i have mine for years and still runs like day 1 i got it

...

>Save for a rolex
If your watch costs more than your car, you're doing it wrong.

My car cost 24k, my Rolex cost 4k + $600 for an alligator band.

My recommendation is if your looking for something nice you will enjoy stay away from hamag watches and quartz. Seiko makes some sweet autos for around 200$ and tissot is also a very classy but affordable option until you can step it up into the higher levels later. If your going to buy quartZ just buy whatever cheap shit and throw it away when it's done.my current everyday.

Dierenporno

Get the Citizen.

Go for the bulova

Currently wearing my speedie reduced

Watches are jewelry for vain faggots with small dicks

>buys and entry level car to save up for a serious watch and pretends his priorities aren't completely fucked up

What should have said was

"If your watch costs even a tenth of what your car costs, you're doing it wrong."

If you want to pull off a four figure watch you gotta be rolling up in a six figure car. Believe.

I've just got a seiko snk now. it really is great for the price.
>inb4 circlejerk

I'm saving up for my dream Nomos though. Unfortunately I'm poor as fuck.

it depends on what you do for a living. and whether you want to keep time, or simply fashion.

tag heuer is a classy entry lvl watch around 1.5k USD.

i earn a lot of money and work in sales, so i wear expensive watches 10-50K USD.

G8
B8
M8

So nothing you own has any purely aesthetic quality for the sake of aesthetics? How big of a helmet did teacher make you wear?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>>tag heuer is a classy entry lvl watch around 1.5k USD.

Laughing my actual ass off

>buys and entry level car

I bought it certified pre-owned. Warranty and everything. New off the floor it was 36k.

Same with the Rolex. Bought it used and serviced. I can sell it for at least what I paid, so it's a good investment. Thats why buying used rolex's is always a good deal.

Boluva is a shitter. It's a ton of money for a quartz watch.like I said before. If it's quartz it needs to be cheap or your throwing your money away in a tick tick shitter.bulovas can get into the thousands. Just buy a fucking used real luxury watch at that point. Automatic all the way.if not get an Apple Watch. If you get a quartz get a timex weekender.cheap and disposable

I thought about saving for a Rolex, used, thinking it would be in the $1000 to $1500 range, thought I should treat myself. Nope, I didn't expect to be greeted with $5k for a used watch. I don't see how any type of quality or detail can justify that cost, in the movement, face detail, band detail, anything...

My Seagull automatic keeps time just fine and by just fine I mean I haven't seen it been off by more than a minute after weeks. It would really take a minute or more deviance every week or two to make me say ok this watch doesn't keep time.

This is the truth. My deep sea I posted is actually worth more than I paid for it.

>I sell burgers and live in my mothers basement so I could save up for five years and buy a watch worth more than her house.

Watches aren't a competition, a pissing contest, an investment or a distraction from your personality.

Citizen sells a wide array of mid-to-high three figure watches which are themselves better than "entry level" to anyone other than bluetooth ear-piece talking, performance sedan driving, gotta make my quota or my Thai trophy wife will leave me road warriors.

Son, the only people who care you spend car money on watches are other douche bags with dicks as small as yours.

...

still better than every other brands , but rolex

has your rolex affected your life in a positive way, or do you now just come off as a pretentious asshole trying to look like he has more money than he really does?

>thinks a $36k car isn't entry level
>thinks buying CPO doesn't make you an aspirational wanna be faggot

I once tried on a solid white gold limited edition at Tiffany's valued at $22k.

Worth every penny if I had it. Amazing object.

Ah, going for a dressy piece, eh?

I recommend the Seiko SARB033, or one of its variants. Beautiful, plausibly sized watch. Great hand winding, hacking, reliable automatic movement. Sapphire crystal. Can be had under $300 on eBay. Can be worn with a leather strap, or the stock OEM metal bracelet.

I don't recommend Bulova. Shit brand. Not respectable. Fashion watches.

>What are you wearing now Sup Forums? Looking to get anything new?

I just sold all my watches, which are the following:

Steinhart Ocean One. Black dial and black ceramic bezel.

Rolex 16610 D serial.

Invicta 8926OB (only Invicta I recommend)

Squale 1545. Refunded due to being a shitter

Casio Rangeman (too big)

Not sure what watch I will buy next. May just put all that cash towards a super charger for my 5.0.

Yeah, Heuer became shit when Tag was added.

lol dude
that's well over half the median salary in the us
how much did your car cost?

If you have to consider the resale value you can't really afford the watch.

Be a real success. But things for life. Leave them to your grandchildren.

Yes because I enjoy it a lot and enjoy wearing it and have gotten a few compliments on it. I saved my money for it by making sacrifices for 2 years so I am no means rich or try to come off that way.

>>thinks a $36k car isn't entry level

It certainly isn't. And I am not bragging about my car, or anything else. Now fuck off.

>>I don't recommend Bulova. Shit brand

Literally invented the tuning fork movement

>>
>compensation the post
Fucking lol

This is exactly what buying these time pieces is all about. You don't wear them for other people. You wear them for yourself.

>If you have to consider the resale value you can't really afford the watch.

Spoken like a real loser.

What if I end up not liking it? What if something happens and I need cash? What if something breaks on it and I need to get it fixed? Why would I want to have a watch that wasn't worth spending money on to get fixed that is just as expensive *cough breitling cough*

Being smart with your money and purchases is always a good idea and how you get rich, idiot.

I have plenty of other things I can use to tell the time, but to each his own

>I don't see how any type of quality or detail can justify that cost, in the movement, face detail, band detail, anything...

That's because you're evidently ignorant about how much work goes into producing Rolex watches. Everything is 100% in-house. And that adds a lot of value considering a lot of watch companies with scratch up a copied design, and throw in a movement made by someone else (usually ETA, Sellita, Seiko, or a cheap Chinese-based movement or clone). Also, parts aren't outsourced to China, like a lot of watch manufactures. It's TRULY Swiss Made, not just barely.

It takes a lot of time to complete one watch. And it's not just the watch you're buying. You're buying history, a respected brand, status, superb customer service, and an actual serviceable watch. And Rolex holds their value, and sometimes increases in value. Not a lot of brands can provide that.

That's why Rolex costs a lot, like other respected Swiss and Japanese brands.

About the same. But I'm not the faggot trying to act like it was an investment or that it is a sufficiently "nice" car to justify a $5k watch I can't afford, am I?

You're the same faggot from the car thread the other night who was claiming most luxury cars are leased or CPO not because people are short sighted aspirational fucks but rather because they are well reasoned careful consumers who invest (without this necessarily meaning they ever sell) wisely. Aren't you.

You're poor, son. and you want people to think you aren't so you convince yourself you're playing the long game and someday all this careful "investing" will put you own top. News flash: it won't.

Agreed on the Seiko SARB. Beautiful watch, outstanding value.

A $36k car, bought used for $22k doesn't justify a $5k watch either.

Go suck a Rolex dealer's dick.

Um, what?

Exactly what I am saying.

I most likely make far more than you do.

>never heard of a savings account
>never heard of a warranty

You're literally making my point. You're _worried_ about having the money to maintain or replace the watch. All it means is you bought more watch than you can afford.

I can afford a $20k watch. I bought a $400 watch. If it breaks after the warranty expires in _ten years_ I'll replace the watch.

You get rich by not living beyond your means to convince yourself you're already rich.

We had the exact same argument about cars two nights ago.

God millennials are ducking stupid.

Op here:

Probably the dumbest shit ever. The closest thing I'll get to a smart watch is a Bluetooth connected watch, and even most of those are pretty questionable.

I'll never be able to justify dropping cash on a Rolex unless I fall ass backwards into a shit load of cash.

There are a few Bulovas to choose from. Their tuning fork logo is probably my favorite logo from watch companies but it's not on their most aesthetically pleasing designs that I'm in a position to get.

>not liking the mechanics of watches

I am a sucker for automatics, especially skeletons--I just like watching their movements to relax even cheap ones, hell a fossil Townsman was my favorite watch for a long time until it just up and stopped on me, now I'm using this TSS I got as a gift for the hell of it, it's pretty as fuck in person but it keeps time like absolute shit, over the course of a week it's running like 5 mins fast, I've never had a watch like that.

But yeah my choices are limited, going to cash in a bunch of my companies "good boy points" for a free watch, but that limits things to whatever the point store stocks.

My household has a combined income over $400k. We currently own nearly a million dollars of real estate.

I drive a Focus ST and wear a Purely analog Citizen. Because I'm not a douche bag and I don't need to be aspirational.

Luxury goods, even used, are not investments to actually rich people. They're just "my stuff".

People who spend 20% of their car on their watch are aspirational idiots. Period.

my personal income is more than your household. try again... poor fag

If you want an affordable, respectable automatic, buy into Seiko, Hamilton, Tissot, Steinhart, and Orient, not Bulova.

No seasoned watch collector will recommend Bulova. They're shit fashion watches. But if you insist because you're so attracted to a logo it blinds you from what folks are telling you, hey, buy your shitter.

Good for you, but I have an 11 inch penis.

my phone and 20 dollar digital watch tell me the time

...

I just check the position of the sun for free.

Different user.

While I respect frugal, humble, wealth people, with your budget, you can afford nicer things and still have loads of funds in the bank. My girlfriend and I are projected to break $200k next year. After we build a custom home on a large amount of acres in a secluded area, I'm going to buy me another Rolex watch, and in all probably, park a GT500 in my garage.

What's the point of having all that money and not enjoying the finer things in life? There's spending too much, and there's being too frugal. Spend wisely. With the amount of money we'll have saved, a few nice things isn't going to make me broke again.

user with the Apple watch here

before buying one i thought it was the worse watch , but it is not , it is connected to my iPhone by bluetooth , i receive every notification from iPhone to my iWatch , i can set " standard " clock model or digital style i can also change the band if i want. iWatch is basically an extention to your iPhone , allowing you to do everything you do on your phone , on your watch. i like it battery life is really really good. i am honnestly happy with it, but once again this is my opinion.

Elaborate, dumb ass, because your comment made no sense – at least not to me.

Not gunna lie, the best watch I ever had was this one. Costs $50, took so much of a beating and has never lost or gained time. This thing has gotten smashed by kegs in a walk in freezer, splashed with scalding grease, coated in pork fat, been in a car crash that dented the lock a little, and even scortched by some fire, and it's still comfortable as fuck, keeps great time, and the only noticeable issue is where the scorch marks took off a bit of the coloring on the underside of the bracelet. I swear Timex is using some kind of black magic to make this shit indestructible, I haven't even had to change the battery on this thing in the 7 years I've had it.

not a big fan of gold/silver combos like that. but if you like it, it seems nice.

Get on my level

Meh. That generations boss was a better car.

Mechanical watches, which I love, are obsolete. And the only reason why they still exist is because our fascination with the old tech, i.e, the movements. And that's fine. Fact is, a few studies are showing mechanical watches are declining in sales. Younger people are showing less interest.

A smart watch, while not needed, is much more practical and useful in the modern world of technology. The only reason why I buy mechanical watches is because, to me, they're functional art, not because I use or need them to tell the time.

I prefeer Hamilton. They are well made automatic watches at reasonable prices. I love one aviator one at 950€ and the diver one in aluminium at 1250€.

If cheaper: Orient.

If more expensive: Omega (my father has one from my great father from the '70, never got serviced and still works lol).

...

I love a stylish non douchebag attention whore watch. Every man should have one.

Smart watchers should lock themselves indoors

What generation are you referring to, because I didn't mention the gen I'm interested in? Boss mustangs are nice, but in terms of specs, they don't come close.

Anyone ever had a MVMT watch? I'm thinking about getting one just because of the price point, but I don't want a shittily made watch

Yeah, when did they start declining exactly?

Good taste. You've obviously did your homework. I like Orient, but their replacement parts are hard to get. Deal breaker for me.

How much is this watch?

...

>2011

Old graph.

>source

I can do that too theguardian.com/business/2017/jan/26/swiss-watch-sales-fall-10-per-cent-china-corruption-crackdown

Get with the times.

2013 boss was a better car than 2014 gt500

Name and price of watch plz

You all need to learn about real watches every single timepiece in this thread is shit

How so? I am interested and do like the 2013-2014 Shelby's.

>theguardian.com/business/2017/jan/26/swiss-watch-sales-fall-10-per-cent-china-corruption-crackdown

I just took one graph from 2011 but there are more. Anyway, a drop in sales IN CHINA due a crackdown on corrpution can create these imbalances but they are not the fundamental changes you pointed out earlier.

So what's "real watches," wise guy?

Google says this model is around $300 ish

>but there are more

Yeah, and there's more articles concerning decreased sales worldwide, not just in China.

Seiko Courtura Perpetual Chornograph Solar

Bulova moon watch. I love it.

I wanna get a hamilton ultra-matic, but it's not in the books right now.

I've got 2 Eco Drives, I like them a lot.

It's a much better handling car and a lot more fun useable power to drive. Unless you're simply they type of momo who likes to tell his buddies "my car has blah blah blah horsepower watch this" and burnout into a tree.

If anything, mustang wise, get a 68gt 350 k code, 2017-18'GT350r, or wait for the new GT500.

>Mechanical watches, which I love, are obsolete.
That's like saying paintings are obsolete, because we have televisions now

I agree, I love mine

Still, I highly doubt mechanical watches will disappear. And the drop in sales have not been dramatic anyway.

You've got to consider that you buy an Apple watch and in two years it'll be obsolete, its purpose, its existence in your wrist will make no sense in any way.

However, you buy a mechanical watch, and as a piece of art it'll make sense to have it in your wrist until you die.

LCD and digital watches didn't kill mechanical watches, Smartwaches will be even less likely to kill them.

I meant '68 with a 390

$1K watch, try to be more like me

>Thinking a watch that comes stock with metal bracelet is classy

I remember when I was in middle school

No, you look like a fatty

Just say it... it's one of four pieces of jewelry a man can wear that is socially acceptable: watch, a necklace, wedding ring, and glasses. Tie clips and cuff-links are way too formal for everyday.

I love my watches, however style wise they are headed the way of the gold necklace... bit douchey.

Weird LED watches like this are probably the only things I'd buy aside from mechanicals. Just seeing the weird patterns or binary dots and the designs that go along with them are great. I always loved the look of this one and had it for a while but holy shit is it think, if it was like 1/3 as thick and didn't require you to hit a button for the face to light up it would be a great watch.

these are the ones i own

Heh... I hate tags. It's not as good as a Seiko but twice the price.

Here's a seiko brightz, ~$700 USD
