Remix is good but mono is still best

Yeah, Giles Martin did a great job.

Lovely Rita, Mr. Kite and A Day in the Life sound great. She's Leaving Home and When I'm Sixty-Four, not so much. Don't have a strong opinion on the others (except for Reprise, which has more energy now, but I preferred Love's version for the same reason).

Worst Beatles album.

Too bad that George Martin never did an arrengement for She's Leaving Home. I don't think he ever said how was his vision for it.

Not true by the way

2017 remix version of Pet Sounds when?

Last year

yeap, between the post-Rubber Soul albums.

Aw man, it sounds like shit. I'm just gonna stick with the 96 remaster.

No, Abbey Road and MMT are definitely worse.

Wait you're not meming? For the most part, the Beatles remasters have just been getting more and more brickwalled and distorted. I'm interested in hearing this

>Brickwalled
Nice meme term

It's not just a remaster, it's a remix. They finally got rid of that bullshit 60's stereo panning.

This means we will have a remix for the White Album next year, right?

Nah but Abbey Road in two maybe.

>I preferred Love's version
>Love
hang yourself user :3

I've never enjoyed the beatles until I heard this 2017 mix

Anyone got the outtakes uploaded? Been trying to look for a while.

Not true, by the way

> actual technique used in mastering
> meme term
okay.............

>no Carnival of Light

Giles said it was considered but dropped because ultimately they only wanted to focus on material actually planned for the album.

The release is actually closer than you think

>Abbey Road

Is it a whole album or just a few songs?

Entire album plus brand new mix of Penny Lane

there's actually zero chance that Carnival Of Light lives up to the hype

All I care about is that it gets out.

Is it actually good?
I listened to the title track and With a little help from my friends but I'm waiting for the whole album to drop tomorrow.

>10 seconds into first track
>drums hard panned left
>guitar hard panned right

lol

Uhhh wasn't the Pet Sounds 50th anniversary literally just a repackaging of the Pet Sounds Sessions with a few live songs? Same mastering...

Hearing it is satisfaction enough

>mfw i heard the new mix of LITSWD

listening to it now - it really is neat!!

Obviously the complete remix aspect means that it's the clearest you've ever heard this album. There's less of the fullness less warmth that the originals had, but that's to be expected with the added clarity. Guitars sound absolutely great, as do the drums! The vocal harmonies seem to stand out a little more, and the mixes are wide with a lot of breathing room. It sounds like something you might have gotten in the mid 70s - which I'm a fan of. Definitely freshens up an album that I've heard a thousand times (even if sgt pepper is not my favourite beatles album)

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th Anniversary Stereo Mix (2017) [MP3: 320]
>mixed by giles martin (george martin's son) from original masters, sounds fantastic

i was about to call you a pleb for liking an album remixed by someone unrelated to the artists who created it, but then I saw:
...seriously? hurr durr i don't like experiencing the full stereo experience an artist meticulously spent hours upon days crafting.
Sickening.

It's called limiting you dip

Giles Martin is more talented than George. I'm not even joking

up until this point I'd have agreed, but now we've got a true stereo mix where each instrument part is its own track. The issue with the other versions is that you had multiple parts on one track (because of the 4/8/12 track recording tech of the time). All stereo versions up till this point were an afterthought. This is the main attraction!

>that gud feelin you get when someone posts your link

Was anyone ever able to up the rest of the release (outtakes and etc)? I was only ever able to find the album itself.

You do realize that George Martin and the Beatles spent days fine tuning the mono mixes to be the perfect experience, right? The stereo mixes were just an afterthought...

are you saying that the original stereo is best?

see

you are doing God's work user

holy shit listening to this mix is like listening to the original album again for the first time

the original stereo mix sucks fucking dick and the mono is really good but its muddled and hard to make stuff out, this is literally perfect

the mono is only muddled if you arent paying attention desu

The guy in literally just posted gibberish and has no idea what the fuck he's talking about

...

This mix is amazing, really love it, it gives the album a new feeling, feels so different yet so familiar.

The new mix is alright. What I don't understand is why this stupid Giles asshole insists in putting the drums to the right on A Day in the Life? Is he stupid or something?

I just heard an interview of him in which he says something like "Ringo's drums on ADITL in mono are like an explosion, they power the whole song when they appear. That's lost in the stereo mix"

And then, this stupid asshole... what does he do? He puts the damn drums in the damn fucking right channel. Stupid fuck, jesus. Why? WHY?

So much hate with you, but I agree

so when is he gonna do the other albums

anyone have download link?

I still prefer the red wax mono but at least this version makes the stereo listenable

The crescendo in A Day in the Life is really amazing in this mix

definition of snob

kek i bet you haven't even heard it

Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds is fucking fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!, the previous stereo version was fucking shit

I don't know that much about the technicalities of music, but this shit sounds SO FUCKING GOOD.
Who knew that music could be experienced like this? Holy shit.

torrent? i cant find anything other than itunes atm

are these all the original tracks just remastered and remixed? because some of the songs sound noticeably different and i cant tell if its just the incredible clarity or if things are actually different

>Beetles remix album
>literally no drops

remaster = messing with the equalizer
remix = changing the actual arrangement of the instruments

see

yeah i know. what im asking is did he use alternate takes/change the sounds in any way or just ultra-clarify them?

well it's called a remix so he messed around with he arrangements

he did have access to the original tapes

Get the MFSL stereo master, not that over-EQ'd Linett crapola

okay thanks.
a better and simplier question wouldve probably been to just ask if it was a remix or a remaster, but im dumb. thanks anyway

The old remasters were loyal to the first stereo mix (the shitty one), this one is loyal to the mono mix (the original one).

JOHN SAYS "I DONT BELIEVE IT" AT THE END OF LOVELY RITA. THE ENTIRE TIME I KNEW HE SAID SOMETHING BUT I COULD NEVER MAKE IT OUT WHAT THATS NUTS

I used to hear it as "better believe it". It's nice to hear exactly what he says.

Drums should ALWAYS be in the middle. Every song, every band, every genre.

It is for many of these songs but not all. My only gripe. Otherwise it's bloody brilliant and feels like hearing it for the first time again. The Beatles were pretty good weren't they?

>Drums should ALWAYS be in the middle. Every song, every band, every genre.

Deer god, this, so much. It should never, laterally NEVER, be panned on one side only.

>Deer god

strawberry fields forever is finally in the middle

fixing a hole sounds so good, holy shit

wait my copy doesn't have that, did they remix Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane too?

??? None of the links have those songs. Give them and no one gets hurt

The way the organ pans on Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is really trippy.

>when within/without you kicks in

They're in the second disc (of the 2 disc edition).

lol

Based George raga mysticism out of nowhere

So I put off listening to SFF for whatever reason before now, I guess the amount of hype surrounding it kinda put me off. But I listened and I don't understand why everyone always goes on about it. This was the song that broke Brian Wilson? He wrote multiple albums worth of better songs.

Is it better than the 1999 stereo remix featured here?

As a lot of other people have mentioned, panning the drums from ear to ear really annoys me.

God damn though, Lucy in the Sky sounds incredible.

> feels like hearing it for the first time again

This is exactly what i tought when i listened to ths remix, it changed a lot, it´s so amazing.

Right? I'm hearing all these sounds I either never heard before or am hearing much more clearly. I've had the thing on repeat since last night.

So what's everyone's favorite track from the album? I've always loved Mr. Kite. The way both parts of the song are so different yet blend together seamlessly.

at least listen to it more than once dumbass

Yes, that´s the song that fucked him, and no, i love Brian, but he didn´t write multiple albums worth of better songs, the production and execution of SFF it´s amazing.
The only song that Brian did that i think is equal production wise is Good Vibrations and talking of songwriting Surf´s Up

Lucy in the sky with diamons really blew my mind, it sounds so different and overwhelming.
I really enjoyed the whole album but probably it´s between Being for the benefit of mister kite or Lucy.
Maybe A Day in the Life.
I guess i can´t decide right now.

> The Beatles were pretty good weren't they

that's actually funny, I had that same thought. I mean I'm a big Beatles fan, but when I listened to the instrumentals I was like "wow these guys are doing some really neat stuff that I never noticed"

People don´t seem to realize that they were excelent musicians and performers, i also noticed pretty cool stuff going around in the intrumentals.

Anyone else get sort of depressed listening to the Beatles ? Like, knowing I could spent 10 years on a single song and it still wouldn't be half as good as something they churned out in a day.

Got a huge smile on my face listening to Getting Better. It sounds so fucking good you guys

It's not enough of a remix

Why do I still have McCartney's fucking bass panned to the right in Day in the Life? And then the drums are panned right too. It's garbage. I was really hoping this mix would make it sound competent.

Not to mention Sgt Peppers isn't even a top 5 Beatles album.

Anybody got a link to the full 6-disc set?

Or at least the lowly 2-disc?

Technically 4 disc, the last two are a documentary. But yes, I'm also looking for the other discs as well

>only putting two discs on streaming

What the fuck I hate the Beatles
