Not him but I sometimes listen to music and change the lyrics completely.. Usually can't use em but it's good practice.
Also I think a lot of writing happens before you actually consciously bring out into the world.. Like it happens unconsciously so sometimes I put a song on repeat or not and I play guitar or piano to it or strum a chord progression, always out of key, because I think both songs will cross over and make something I wouldn't have otherwise and I won't catch it but my subconscious will and it may come back with a gift for me later after it has incubated long enough
