Hey Sup Forums
I want to make my first chart, you name an artist, an album (post the album cover if possible) and in what stage it belongs
.
Sad music chart
well, for stage 1 you definitely need to get some XXXTENTACION in there and some Ghost Town. Maybe a little sprinkle of brokeNYCDE
May as well go stage 2.
Flaming Lips - The Terror
Probably stage 3?
obligatory for stage 4
stage 3
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
some dsbm, maybe, but I listen to to many of them to pick a single one for the chart
totalselfhatred, coldworld, shining, xasthur,
stage 4
I haven't listened to this desu but if it's flaming lips I don't think it's going to be that sad
Stage 1
stage 3
>if it's flaming lips I don't think it's going to be that sad
You need to listen to it then and then get back to me.
That is easily a Stage 3 record. It isn't called The Terror for no reason.
kek
yeahhhh regret posting it now, its more depressing than sad desu
Its about being insignificant on a cosmic scale and not being able to escape that.
musically its somewhat drone-y instead of the usual pop
Love this one
Be more specific
Fine
On it
stage 4:
Giles Corey - s/t
Henryk Gorecki - Symphony no. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs)
more like stage 4 pancreatic cancer
...
I hung myself while listening to this album.
Stage 4.
Can we have a stage 5 for when you have stopped caring and live in a state of dissociation?
Reminder that anything below level
2 is your own fault and because you are a beta fag
This shit got me listening to Mount Eerie again... Help me ;^(
3 maybe 4. You decide
youtu.be
and put A Crow Looked at Me on 3
this comment isnt biased nor a projection.
Daniel Johnston's unfinished album's essential Stage 4-core
What stage would you guys say this is?
This image and thread screams underage.
Didn't read instructions... Thought this was
>"Make your own chart with songs that make you feel sad"
Not super sad, bretty comfy.
>Someone Used my chart
I'm so honored
No, this is Stage 2.5
>girlfriend is dying
clearly straddles between those. I'll give it 3 to be kind.
Stage 2
Wrong album cover for stage 4, friend. Plus, I think the album cover you used was meant for stage 3
whats under the next row
i want to keep going
I don't know if you're a retard and agree with it, or just didn't realize how that guy was memeing, but A Crow Looked at Me is more deserving of group 4 than pretty much anything else.
There is no "blackgaze" after that point.
>Not my year
>Nothing going the way I planned
vs.
>Loved one dying
>Shotgun wedding before cancer takes her
>Have dreams about said dead lady
I dunno user, dead waifu/gf sounds pretty "I quit" to me.
Final stage. You have to be willing to put yourself through this album. I literally tried to catch my breath for 30 minutes after listening to the album. If anything is as intense, exhausting and unique I would like to know.
>says the man posting in a thread about which music makes him sad
That's because you've never listened to Stage 4 music.
Those are the only kind of people that actually think Hospice is good.
>girlfriend is dying
is at best Stage 3
3
"no"
Stage 2
>girlfriend is dying during the album, but he doesent mention that she died in the album so im totally not gonna think about that!
Smashing Pumpkins- Adore
Stage 2 or 3
The cancer thing in Hospice is just a metaphor for a toxic relationship. It's actually pretty blatant if you pay attention. It's still a sad album, but it's not near something like A Crow Looked At Me which is literally about the aftermath of the love of someones life slowly dying from cancer in front of them.
Level 2
He does though
>suddenly every machine stopped at once
>and the monitors beeped the last time
Also
The album is about her death, if you think I was trying to twist that to impyl she doesn't die int he narrative, I apologize for giving that impression.
It's still fucking Stage 3 at best.
Stage 4 is beyond the extrinsic reasons of being sad. It's the intrinsic loathing from 3 married with the random extrinsic pain and suffering from 2 that moves the sadness from one of challenge and understanding to one of complete and total hopelessness. Stage 4 is giving up on anything and everything- yourself, the world, people, hope, happiness, literally everything.
Leviathan
Stage 4
That's like a level 5 depending on my mood desu
>Stage 2
Death Cab for Cutie - We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes
>Stage 3
Arab Strap - Philophobia
>Stage 4
Bluetile Lounge - Half-Cut
Codeine - The White Birch
Lowercase instead of Half-Cut at stage 4 and I'd agree.
I think the chart is flawed. "I quit" is two subjective, and light. What you just described is at least stage five, past suicidal thoughts, right into nihilistic existence for the soul purpose of inking out and existence, devoid of thought, feeling, and reason.
Many people have quit life after the death of a loved one, but not many normal people are ever pushed to a level you describe.
I think it is stage four, by stage four's description.
But it is not the lowest you can go.
Could OP mend the chart? Because
>not my year
And
>life devoid of emotion besides soul crushing angst and pain
Should not be next to one another
i understand im just looking for the most depressing black metal there is. i want to die
Giles Corey- s/t
Level 4
stage 3?
Why not Half-Cut? They're super similar. IIRC the band broke up because it was actually taking a toll on their psyche.
Stage 2
Not saying that to be an asshole, but it's just true, and would pair well with A Crow Looked at Me being stage 4.
>"Conceptual emptiness was cool to talk about
Back before I knew my way around these hospitals"
This album moves between 2, 3, and 4 at varying points.
R8
Nebraska stage 3?
Stage 3 for me
...
stage 3 sounds about right. The Terror is fucking depressing
youtube.com
This is stage 4 for me
youtube.com
Giles Corey S/T is pretty much Stage 5
Low are much sadder than RHP
>generally apathetic
>frequent thoughts of death and nightmares
>don't care about them much
>don't care enough to kill myself
>maybe depressed but i dont think its real enough to bother a doctor about
music for this feel
Not for me
Down Colorful Hill
Not even close
Medicine Bottle alone is sadder than all of Low's discography, and Low got happier with every album.
Down Colorful Hill is what you're looking for
Its sadness is massively overstated by people who haven't really ventured into any sort of slowcore/sadcore
I respectfully disagree, but I value your opinion nonetheless.
Why'd you mention me?
facts
crow definitely should be 4 unless you are memeing
that isn't the album cover for deathconsciousness
Lil Peep - Hellboy for stage 1
Fever Ray - If I Had a Heart youtube.com
I'd put this in Stage 4
wait
i think i misunderstood the concept
i like all of these albums a lot and they're just in uh
descending order of the appropriate sadness i'd listen to them at
stage 1 description sucks because it passes off an album as overemotional
i guess my stage one albums for me are either deceptively sad in either a lyrical or musical context, or they reflect on humanity as a sad concept
stage one should be like that because albums are never objectively pandering to an audience seeking an emotional album
it's always up to artist and viewer interpretation
thanks boys
Possibly normie Stage 4
Stage 4
Unironically the coldest and most isolating album I have ever listened to
The end sounds like the total absence of hope
Strong 4 to Stage 5
I just put this on
what the fuck kind of weird shit am I listening to
That's what I thought the first time I listened to Confield but trust me when I say it's one of the most brilliant albums I've ever heard. The atmosphere and sound design on this album are so far beyond anything else ever made.
youtube.com
This is my favorite and probably one of the most accessible on the album. Starts out with some ominous space-y synths and eventually evolves into something that sounds almost like screams of pain.
checked
I'm a few minutes in, at the very least I've never listened to this sort of electronic before, kind of a fun detour from my typically normie tunes
thanks for the rec user
Double checked holy shit
Anytime, I'm glad I could show you something new. Honestly I thought I had been duped when I listened to Confield for the first time but now it's one of my favorite albums. I've listened to all of Autechre's discography and plenty of similar artists in the genre and I have yet to find another album like this one.
Stage 2 or 4. 3 Doesn't seem to be too accurate.
Album is No Becoming - Lee Noble
...
imo, I'd have opted for No-one Can Ever Know if we're going to talk about depressing/dark Twilight Sad albums.
Also, pick related is like, idk, if it wasn't so on-the-nose, I'd peg it as a stage 3. Like, the significance of the lyrics - behind the bluster - doesn't really click til you're actually depressed.
stage 0 and keep going
Modest Mouse is squarely stage 3 tier famalam
Stage 3 or 2
>Lou Reed - Berlin
When I'm at stage 3/4 I can't enjoy any music
