Animal collective live

describe your live animal collective experiences
just went to their show in New Haven for the first time, pretty good

>describe your experiences
>describes his as pretty good
besides the fact the animals collective is hipster trash, kys op

i used to belive it too, but i saw them last moday on DC and i had a blast, they are really good live

I saw them last monday.

They played Sweet Road without guitars using samples and did the trance version of Bees.

A few years ago I saw them on the Centipede Hz tour at the show they made the live album for. I am 100% sure Deakin's mom was in the VIP balcony just swinging around identically to her son.

So that was cool.

I'm friends with someone who always listens to these Animal Collective guys. Around 2014, the band was playing at Coachella so, being the great friend that I am, we both go to the show.

Well we were there among the sweaty thrall of people, waiting for the band to come on. There was some lanky guy with a rat face who made it on stage and was staring directly at the sun for about 15 minutes straight and repeating something to himself. Occasionally he'd grimace and smack his closed fist against his forehead. For 15 minutes he did this, and no security escorted him off the stage.
Then the band comes out.
Avey Tare, the singer, proceeds to flick off the entire crowd as he walks on stage. "Okay," I think, "so he's like a punk frontman type of guy."
Meanwhile, that lanky guy who was on stage spinning? He picks up a bass guitar. Hes in the band!

They played a few songs, it wasn't THAT bad. The lyrics were screamed incoherently. What really was bizarre though, was that the frontman would go up to the mic between every song and say "Just wait til ya taste Avey's gravy baby" And then burst out laughing and hobble away from the mic in hysterics. He kept doing it. It's as if he thought we didn't hear him the first time he did it.
Eventually he started doing it in the song during instrumental sections, and later, he started saying it mid verse! I remember during the climax of one of the songs about a fish fry, one that was very emotionally impacting on the audience, he sang
"So I duck down and go out to taste AVEY'S GRAVY "
I was baffled. This is this guy's job. He's like 40 and this is his job yet he can't be serious for an hour or two. What the fuck.

The show was absolute trash. Never see these guys.

hey i was there too, wanna fuck my boipucci?

saw them in DC, absolutely fantastic, how they re work their songs is at least slightly impressive, and how they transition from song to song even more so.

They turned Bees into a house song
They turned taste into this weird droney PW type song
They turned sweet road into an entire at-least-three-minute song
And they turned Kids On Holiday into this crazy post rock synth thing with the most explosive, loud chorus at the end

The way they develop the PW songs live has actually enlightened me to the album a bit more, as they made me notice little bits in the songs that make the song better (bits that I wouldnt have noticed if it werent for the way they mix their songs live) for instance, the danceable beat and the extra synth on "On Delay" I thought were due to them playing it differently live, but I went back and listened to it and actually noticed it and it made me appreciate all of the subtle nuances of the songs even more

great show

also "pw is bad" is a meme

i was wearing the shirt that said "i hate death grips"
might have seen me

Fuck i think i saw you on the way out from the far distance. i was a guy wearing white shirt

can you explain why you dislike them without using buzzwords?

The effort is impressive but the execution could use some work

this would've been the dankest of memes back in 2012.

haha nice description my friend
give me ur contact info we can be concert buddies since i dont know anyone near me who goes on this board

Do you use Discord?

I WAS THERE TOO OP,
that rework of Taste was crazy, i thought it was an awesome live show, made me really want to revisit their new stuff. I feel like PW is 10x better live, summing the wretch was so much better live

Also, i was standing on the side, the opening act, Circuit des yeux stood really close to me for a while, it was cool

i was there too :) it was on my birthday
they opened with taste and i went nuts. highlights of that concert were taste, bees, sweet road, summertime clothes, floridada, kids on holiday.
i also saw them in november and they played guys eyes and loch raven. loch raven was so magical.
on monday i stayed after to meet the guys. while waiting some girl gave me a panda bear shirt she made which i got signed by panda. panda is so nice. and honestly wise, i was like "i wanna make music like you" and he said "make music like yourself."
overall the whole thing was surreal. they are really nice and down to earth, and they give a hell of a concert. best birthday ever

I hope that panda bear interaction is real because I really really like that

I've never went to their show but it's bad

i've never celebrated christmas but its bad

That Gynecologist fella, nice guy. He also doesn't wear shoes or sandals

it was very real. he actually said "make music like you" now that I remember it. i fucking love that man

thats a surreal experience, i wish i could meet them one day

:) you should definetly go to one of their shows and stay after to meet them.
