Musical debate

you think you got something to say about music?
say it here

people that listen to techno have receding hairlines

music fucking sucks

Metal, country and rap actually do really suck as genres. It's not a meme.

I'll take the most memed position. I believe popular music, while having a few peaks and valleys along the way, has been on a general decline in quality since at least the 70s.

hey now
music is pretty good
i mean
its alright to listen to sometimes
some of it anyway

>since the late 70s
>implying 80s pop isn't great

popular music. not just pop. also it's not a sharp decline. just a noticeable one.

It's all garbage, and you're only fooling yourselves.

Kiss unplugged is the greatest album to ever grace the earth.

women don't make worthwhile music

Does anyone even seriously dispute this?

Super tough choice. As much as I loved La La Land, I think I'd give the win to Whiplash. It was far more interesting and intense, and I could empathize with the main character.

...

Metal, while it certainly has significant variation in quality due to being such a big tent genre, is by and large not a particularly intellectual or patrician genre and it doesn't hold a candle to classical music or jazz in terms of musical sophistication or the in technical skill of its musicians.

Kate Bush, Bjork, Patti Smith, Aretha Franklin just from the top of my head.

pop drivel

I don't like those though.

all bad

There's all of one original songwriter in that list, and they're all within a formulaic genre and musical tradition with no classical training whatsoever.

do you people even listen to music
