I'm partial to blackened death/war metal, some atmospheric black metal, and Swedish melodic death metal.

a-melodic tech-death with a side of groove.

Doom
Stoner second

(But does doom really count as a subgenre since that's kind of what the genre was founded on?

1: black metal
2: blackened death / war metal
3: Doom

This.

As far as quality control goes, there is not a single bad tech thrash album in existence. Even the weaker stuff (Toxik or Vektor) is still pretty damn good.

Grindcore and if that doesn't count it's Sludge.

not hardcore related it's Black Metal and it's not even close.

literally anyone who thinks different doesn't have a valid opinion on music

Hardcore, post-metal, tech metal.
Not in that order.
It's all good so long as it's not Iron Maiden or any of that cheesy wank.
