Windows 8.1, if i didnt game it would be some sort of linux distro

Dual boot you faggot.

Also Parrotsec.

Kali is such a shit-tier pentest distro

Why? Whats the damned point. Im gonna chew up space on my hard drive for something i have no use for. I can do everything i want in Windows that I would do in Linux if i had a dual boot

Windows 10, because i use .net framework, when programming

Windows 7

I dual boot between Windows NT 3.51 and OS/2 Warp 4.

let's be real, you haven't created this thread from arch...

I'm running my Microsoft Developer Network release of the NT 4 beta just so I have the cute animated dinosaur cursors.

except I have. Will post screenfetch for proof upon request

>Arch master race

top keks.

Whatever is native on my Atari Falcon.

I run Windows ME and I like traps.

Windows 10, because I don't care that much about 'freedom'

hello goys

shit forgot image hello goys

Windows + Piracy > Linux

what nigga

Windows 7

steam + linux

lulz

>muh Linux
FreeBSD master race!

Gentoo motherfuckers

Windoors 7

It is

how is parrot better than kali?

BunsenLabs on my retroarcade machine.
because it's a 7yo Dell salvaged from my previous workplace.

...

so garbage?

no, it's from the Apple Byte show

Tell me what I can do with a linux distro that I can't already having a windows OS for gaming.

Those tabs are much KEK
> hopefully staged, or you have my sympathies

>linux
kill yourself

Mostly Ubuntu, not 100% command line Linux I know but I'm getting there and learning all the time

Windoze purely for gaming

You can't be a special sudo snowflake

jokes on you you greasy fucks

arch is my porn OS

You cannot bitch about how useful, save and overall better Linux is... that's it.

Windows 8.1/Windows 10

Home computer
>windows 10 - games
>Ubuntu - everything else
>Arch(which I haven't used in a long while)

Laptop
>MacOS - programming(mostly for apple products but also cross platform) and school.

I installed arch on my old machine to try and build a very lightweight system for running rfactor the racing simulator game. I had it all running sweet apart from one crucial thing, I couldn't get forcefeedback going properly for my wheel controller. I had the same problem on suse linux so it wasn't arch's fault. I enjoyed going through the arch install process, it was enlightening!

im using linux mint no viruses+ xkill +
some steam games i can actually play on here but not most.+ free and a better free version of winzip then winzip!!

How to be an arch user in 2 easy steps:

1. Follow on line instructions and install it.
2. Go on the internet and tell everyone how fuckin great you are.

KYS

xkill which is faster and more reliable then ctrl + alt + del and a better unzip file then winzip!

Archlinux.

How to be an arch user in 3 easy steps:

1. Follow on line instructions and install it.
2. Go on the internet and tell everyone how fuckin great you are.
3. Rice it til it breaks

KYS

Fixed it

Windows 7 for obvious pleb reasons.
>guy with arch linux wants my pen drive
>throw it over to him
>oh no, the pen drive is not detected
>i'll have to mount it manually
>oh what's this, oh no i lack a driver for this one
>ok i'll write a driver so i can use it...
>continues to write a custom driver for something like an hour and gives up to start an ubuntu to transfer the data there
This happened this week.

At work I always use Linux because it is simpler to install dev environments and more configurable in terms of desktop environment.

At home I use windows 7 because all I do is play games, watch videos and web browse. I don't feel like having a dual boot to switch every time I want to play.

Fedora 25

Sorry I dont vape

That person is a retard. It was probably an NTFS partition in which case they just need to install the NTFS-3g driver which is actually part of Arch's main repositories meaning it takes like 2 seconds to install with
>pacman -S ntfs-3g

That said, if they were just mounting it then they wouldn't even need this package. The linux kernel itself comes with an NTFS driver but it only supports read-only mounting (the NTFS-3g driver works perfectly but it's FUSE based and won't be added to the linux kernel itself).

tl;dr: That dude is probably retarded and trying to show off.

Arch is actually really easy to use but retards who can't into computer tend to install it to show off and just embarrass everyone when they can't figure out basic shit.

Ran mint for years. Played with shit loads of other distros. Just had to install windows 7 on a extra drive i had so i can use software like autocad, fl studio, vegas.....all that good shit. Plus linux hates my video card for some gay ass reason.

Mint is basically my security suite now for doing dirty shit. Windows is like my sandbox.

ubuntu user reporting in

WINDOWS 10 DUAL-BOOT WITH LINUX MINT AND KALI ON A PERSISTENT USB.
COS FUCK ALL OF YOU!

It was an ntfs drive, but i sure as fuck enjoy beeing able to plug in an usb and for it to just work.
You linux users always forget about the hardships you've been through already and tell everyone how easy it is to use that shit.
Other occation, same guy:
>oh if you want to install arch just follow this tourorial

After Ubuntu force fucked me with the new kernal i flushed that os down the drain.

why do people dislike ubuntu?

ubuntu, thought of upgrading to arch but i just have no fucking clue on how to run it.

Its like the windows of the linux world. In practice and features.

Bunsinlabs checking in.

yea i used to run mint with xfce but I'm too into the unity desktop

Linux is ok if u r a basement neet who doesn't mind spending a month trying to get their system to run commander keen without Linux crashing and having to recompiling the kernel everytime

sudo killyourself

lmao, seriously stop hanging out with that dude. He is clearly brain damaged.

It's not a hardship to run a single pacman command that makes NTFS pen drives automagically work. You only have to do it once and typically non-retards do it at the same time they're installing the OS.

Installing arch isn't that hard:
>pop the disk in
>chroot over to your install partition (1 command)
>tell pacman to install all the core shit (1 command)
>configure basic shit, time, network, etc.. (literally editing a couple lines in a few text files and running a couple 'systemctl enable/start [service]' commands)
>Run a command to install and configure your bootloader
>reboot without disk in drive

That's basically it. 99% of the time you're just sitting there waiting for packages to download/install. If you want to install a window manager, video card drivers, and some general software then that's really just one more pacman command at the end.

The only reason it took that dude several hours to do it is because he is borderline retarded and doesn't actually know dick about linux.

Arch on my desktop and wattOS on my Thinkpad.

sudo rm -rf /* yourself

As a professional full stack software architect, I use OSX of course. Everything else is for amateurs and poorfags.

Also, my salary is $230K

Windows 3.1 because fuck off

Just for reference, this is the guide:
wiki.archlinux.de/title/Anleitung_für_Einsteiger
I've had word count the words:
9000 words in this guide, about 60 commands to the half of it (not sure which ones are needed)
So i have a hard time that this all can be achieved with 4 commands. Again, there's so much you don't even consider work but it is. I know the basics of linux, but that's it, i'll have to check how to create a new partition or how much i need for swap and all that shit.

>click and drag you to trashcan

test

Windows xp

OSX, Ubuntu and Winblows, all on separate machines.

Winblows sucks ass, so I almost never use it.

Fuckin respect bro

I have the original windows files but i cant get that shit to run on anything. I want to get it installed and sell it on Craigslist as a steam machine.

A computer lord like u really should install Gentoo

Jokes aside, it would be pretty awesome if you could set it up to use HTML5 and play youtube.

i second this. my salary is only $180K tho

I really like Unity though, and I don't feel like customising shit.

>how to create a new partition
You have to do that shit no matter what OS you're installing (even Windows) and you can do it from anywhere (even Windows, but there are also linux live disks solely for partitioning that are basically retard proof like gparted).

>How much swap
Modern computers with 8GB of ram or more do not need a swap partition.

That guide is huge because it tries to explain everything assuming the reader doesn't know anything about linux. It literally has entire sections on how to turn off and reboot your computer from the command line and it handholds the user by providing commands for reading and editing each text file that they might possibly need to modify. It's also super general so that it covers every possible linux configuration (most of that text won't apply to you because large portions of it are mutually exclusive).

The only tedious part is the configuration which is still pretty basic. Stuff like
>set a locale by deleting a character from a text file
>set an iso character set in the same way
>generate an fstab with the genfstab command
>run a script to automatically test speeds for arch repository mirrors and choose the fastest ones
>install a network manager, do some basic configuration (typically just copying a file and maybe editing a line or two if your network is weird), and start and enable it with a couple systemctl commands.
>etc....

If you know what you're doing then you can do this in a few minutes. If you don't know anything about linux then you're going to waste a lot of time reading on what each of those things are and how they work in linux.

>Everyday use: Windows 10
>Programming, developing: Ubuntu
>Penetration Testing, Security Researching: Kali

Windows 8.1, why don't I use a little ux district? Cause I didn't fall for that pathetic meme.

>Being a Skid: Kali

Dual boot. I'm running ubuntu mate right now.

Mate is nice.
