>it's a We'll Try to Make a Movie Based Around the Fact That One Guy Can Do a Decent Shaggy Impression episode

>It's a faggot OP didn't actually watch the movie he's criticizing episode

Neck ya self

Post cat lady.

>it's a we go full idiot and use scrappy as the main villain flick

Scooby Doo was pretty funny and comfy as fuck

They're all well cast, but the movies themselves are just bad.

I'm glad they exist though, many faps have been had and many more will be had in the future

Did anyone listen to the commentary track? Sarah Michelle Gellar acts autistic as fuck on it, Freddie sounds high as fuck, Mathew keeps spouting nonsense and getting into arguments with Fred, and Linda is literally just Velma the whole time.

>I THINK FROGPOSTERS SUCK
What did he mean by this?

>they will never publish "Fred on Fred: The Many Faces of Me"
why live?

>When Scooby is dressed up as a grandma and everyone knows except Fred
Pure scoobykino

Anybody here ever go on the Scooby Doo ride in MovieWorld Australia? Greatest ride of all time.

Whenever I see irl Fred, I can never tell if it's from this movie or the porno

Every other character I can tell part in a heartbeat but not Fred

A couple more drafts and the film could have been a bready gud comfy meta flick.

Still worth watching for SMG's bouncy taut ass.

the fuck? Now I want the blu-ray

If they had allowed James Gunn to make the adult-oriented Scooby-Doo he wanted to, it could have been amazing

Many times. Went back last year and they still play the fucking making of documentary in the line up area.

The porn parody with Bree Olsen was pretty gud.

I would have fucked Bree until Charlie Sheen gave her aids.

I loved Scooby Doo 2 as a kid, particularly the fire extinguisher skateboard scene

>velma gets hanged upside down
>her skirt magically levitates to hide her panties

They were good though

A Talking Dog?!?

It has always been absurd to me that adults and teenagers with even a passing familiarity with the horror genre can't see beyond the child-oriented fare (even on that most basic level this is one of my very favorite films! I love the Scooby Doo mythology!): we have all of the traditional horror stereotypes - The Jock and the Blonde (Fred and Daphne), the Nerd (Velma), the Stoner (Shaggy) and the Token Black Man (Scooby Doo). Some of these may seem reductive but look at what Gunn and Gosnell do here: the first scene featuring solely Shaggy and Scooby begins with a shot of smoke inside the Mystery Van as Shaggy's typically cartoonish voice talks about how much fun he's having. Of course, this is a children's film and he's simply frying Taco Bell but the progression of shots and Lillard's consistently brilliant performance tells it all. Scooby is equally as inessential (and passive) to the narrative as the Token Black Man in other, less cartoonish horror films. He never remarkably affects the narrative but is the central focus of these films by virtue of the way the rest of the group functions: everybody else is neurotic, a heightened stereotype which traditionally makes these stories easier to swallow for young children, but Gunn's screenplay won't settle for the easy complacency of bold and garish Friday-night-family-fun, as these characters individual eccentricities and absurdities begin to whimsically redirect the narrative into a classical horror-epic showdown (good v. bad, freedom v. imprisonment).

The design accentuates this too - Gosnell captures strobe-lights and carnival-based atmosphere better than any other director I can think of (within the horror genre, only Hooper in The Funhouse gets anywhere close to building the same interrelation of menace and fun) - Scooby Doo is a crowdpleasing continuation of one of my most beloved mythologies.

Still absurd to me that a movie this bonkers/fun/nonsensical/out there got hard funding from a major studio, props to Warner Bros - my childhood favorite (along with the sequel); although all due credit to Gosnell and Gunn for crafting a film that stands an intelligent reading too - that is, one about the media intercepting free thought and artifice blocking the way to objective truth and human connection (all done through the lens of destroying the horror genre). Also the Scooby Doo ride at MovieWorld Australia is great even though I hate capitalism.

So why did Gunn do Scooby-Doo 2?

Contractually locked in?

>daphne isn't wearing pantyhose
What's the point?

Doesn't she say something about there originally being a nude scene? Watched that commentary as a kid once.

ADULT STONER COMEDY SCOOBY-DOO FUCKING WHEN

Same reason they all did. Contracts.

Basically they all signed up for a different PG-13 movie. No Scrappy, more adult comedy. Then Warner Bros. said LOLno and ripped the script and editing to shreds.

It hit the target BO, though, so they had no choice in doing the sequel.

I actually really enjoyed the second movie. Much lighter in tone, better variety of monsters, and just better writing.

>Edgelord teenagers actually want an adult Scooby Doo

I dont care what anyone says, I love the first movie. It's literally the cartoon brought to life.

You clearly missed the entire joke if you had a problem with Scrappy being the main villian

bare legs are hotter

>you now remember Scooby Doo 2

>"You made me sound like a total Space Cadet!"

At this point I just want a live action Zombie Island adaptation.

What was even the plot of the second one? First one was the island theme park right?

>Token Black Man (Scooby Doo)
Armond White wrote this?

Yes

The second one was kinda just them solving another mystery and facing a ton of monsters that were actually from the cartoon

>Daphne and Velma make out
>filmed but not even on the cut scenes
>no HD version of the dance sequence at the end of 2

Still holding a grudge against WB 14 years later.

C-context for that scene?

I completely agree with you on this...was bummed when that didn't happen.

However, I've got a kid now and he fucking loves Scooby; especially the live action movie. So it's kinda cool that I get to see him enjoy it so much.

While the first two seasons will always be kino to me, I think the live action films and Mystery Inc will be kino to him...

I don't know. I think it was supposed to be when they were infected or whatever. The actresses confirmed it was filmed, but cut.

I literally bought the DVD just for that.

>yfw you realize Zombie Island is the greatest made for TV movie ever produced

It really is great, I remember it would really unsettle me when I was younger, haven't watched it in years though.

Scooby-Doo 2 was written by James Gunn, who made Guardians of the Galaxy

So what I'm saying is, get back to r e d d i t

It's fantastic and it still holds up. It's done with traditional hand painted backgrounds and cels too, and it looks fantastic. I actually own a cel or two and one of the backgrounds from the interior kitchen where the pirate ghost was, I need to dig them out of my collection and take pictures of them.
