Good band but meant more native like who's has mad musical pieces with Australian elements digeridoo and winds and shit

>Courtney Barnet defiantly shouldn't be on that list
...
Dead Can Dance?
i didnt like her new album but her double ep was pretty good tbqh
Are there any Australian bands that don't sound like this? They all seem to have this Australian quality "sheen" to them, I don't want to call it "Australian" because I'm sure there are bands here that don't share that aesthetic. You got anything homie? Something like Unwound or whatever?
Dude she's trash, lazy songwriting combined with some of the shittest lyrics I've ever heard. Some of ur other picks were alright tho
idk man i really like the songwriting and the storytelling nature to her lyrics
each to their own i guess
IDK about this shit but the drones are a bit different still sound Australian

Australian dude here, Unwound has an "American" sheen to it, just like Jesus and the Mary chain had a "British" sheen, just like Can had a "German" sheen, recognise that America holds the cultural hegemony in terms of music
It's the accent, singing in an american accent is the worst crime imaginable in (indie) Australian music, most people try to sing unaccented, though race traitors will sing in American accents for the dollarydoos
they are not the only good ones, you know nothing of Australian Music, bet you don't even know what a bush doof is
are you fucking kidding me
Check out:
Birthday Party & affiliated acts
Paul Kelly & affiliated acts
The Drones & affiliated acts
Midnight Oil (we elected the lead singer, what a world)
Dead Can Dance (I don't like them personally but a lot of people do)
tl;dr: I'm pretty fucking mad at the northern hemisphere right now
same dude
cannot forget Aboriginal artists, here I am ripping on American cultural hegemony and I don't even mention the major bias in Australian culture
Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu and Kev Carmody are the only two I know
If anyone more knowledgable could rec more aboriginal music that'd be great
also dismiss Aussie rap wholesale, you have been warned

I wanted to post crime and the city solution, but there are almost no tracks among my favourites on youtube.
