I definitely don't recommend watching the Rebuilds after the original though, not immediately anyway, especially if one is just getting into the medium.
I'd hate to have anyone dismiss them because they "look old" or something along those lines.
Plus, I have to admit they start slow, but I believe they have a lot more artistic value.

Depends. For comedy, not visual, would you rather read the punchline, or hear the punchline of a joke? I'd say for most the second is true, since it is more punctual.
But for most I recommend the original release. I'd rather hear the original and read subtitles, not to mention that a lot of English dubs are actually bad.
As for the one in question, I think watching CG in the original format with subs is better.
