As in pic related, my toenail is ingrown towards the root. Whats the best way to get it out? Any tips for preparation, pain relief, methods of physically removing it? While tips for avoiding it in the future is helpful, said advice wouldnt help with actually getting it out
Soak it in warm water with soap and apply upward pressure on the whole nail but pulling it up at the top. After a few days, it should go away. Otherwise, use a straight piece of metal (nail clippers work) and get it under the curled nail and lever the metal so the nail is forced outwards. With method 1, prepare for minimal pain. Method 2, prep for a lot of pain.

only solution is to amputate your leg. there's no time to go to hospital. if you work quickly, you might get lucky and only need to cut it off at the knee. do you have a hacksaw?
Joseph Taylor
have you tried turning it off and on again?
Alexander Martinez
Already tried but ty Thanks, will try this
Logan Gomez
Cut a small triangle in the middle, try to file the points. That makes the toe grow back to the left.
May need to soak in some antiseptic if it gets bad.
Lucas Wood
Go to the damn Dr and have it fixed. I had one on each toe in basic training. They have to cut the nail out.

Use boiling water in cup and try to put it on for longest time u can before u burn ur skin, do it 3 times per one day. Have the same shit 3 weeks ago

Had this done to multiple nails, dont want to fork out more money as I've now been able to do it myself, bar this one bit

Best way to proceed is to just go to the doc and have it cut out. It literally takes like 10 minutes to end that annoyance.
Keep in mind that it MAY resurface, the cause of ingrown toenails are either small shoes or tendency. I have been on a surgery like 9 times, 7 times it was 1 nail, can't do much just hope it will grow better next time.

So was that to soften skin/nail to make it easier to remove?
Levi Peterson
go to quickcare, pretty cheap

Am Ausfag
Joshua Morales
That must have sucked, especially when mr doctor would have said yes this will fix it for sure!
Robert Fisher
My dad said he cut one of these out with an exacto knife.
Nathaniel Adams
The doc never really said it will be fixed. It was always pointed out that it's probably tendency and there's not much to do about that. Overall the only bad thigns about it were taking out this bloody little cotton wool piece that they put in the "hole" where my nail was.

I can relate, I've had about 4 of these in my life. I've let my home doctor (general practitioner according to google translate) remove most of them. It cost me nothing and is mostly painless; you get a few injections in your toe to paralyze it. I've also removed one with my hands and a pair of pliers. This hurt a lot and left my toenail slightly deformed.
I'd recommend going to the doctor's and having it removed. Note, the doctor wishes to put some bandaging around your toe. Remove this ASAP as it sticks to your skin. And is a pain to remove later.
Henry Harris
This. I would soak in Epsom salt afterwards to dry it out some.
Eli Peterson
My doctor whos done it would put something to kill the root, but my most recent doctor filled the hole with the stuff instead of just a cotton bud worth. He also went fucking ham with the needles, most painful thing ive every experienced
Aaron Turner
stop being a pussy, cut the nail a bit and pull it out. Will hurt for 2 minutes and then go away.
Squeeze out the pus
Asher Perez
>hands and pliers Thats pretty metal
Oliver Gonzalez
>methods of physically removing it? While tips for avoiding it in the future cut out the toenail. this is what the podiatrist would do if it's recurring.
Get some pliers, clench your teeth, pull that bastard right off. Have a story for later.
Ayden Gonzalez
I did it once to prove a point, ill never do it again.
James Clark
Don't listen to these op.
Ayden Carter
Don't worry not planning on doing so
The soak in hot water seems to be a recurring suggestion so it seems to be the best idea here
Angel Barnes
And cut a triangle in the middle of the white part of your nail.
Antiseptic may be needed if the nail digs into your skin and produces becomes swollen with blood and smells.
Noah Torres
All these methods without removing the nail wont work, I tried. Just go see a doctor, it is not a large surgery and your problems will immediately be solved.
Jaxson Rogers
If you catch it in time it works, op isn't at the surgery stage yet.
Thomas Carter
i got it surgically removed in both big toez
Levi Martinez
Alright thank you all for the suggestions. As for the people saying go visit a doctor, I have in the past but the cost is annoying for something that might not fix it, however if it gets to a point beyond what I can fix then I'll go back
