So what stops you from being a nihilist...

So what stops you from being a nihilist? My personal belief is that the universe is going to run its course and continue expanding and eventually cool down into nothingness. So even if you think science will most likely within our lifetime be able to extend our lives indefinitely as I do we're still fucked. I think I'd be living a much different life if I truly believed everything said above.

Say what now?

We cut off your Johnson!

If we keep evolving, we might be able to change the laws oh physics and stop it from expanding into heat death.
Millions of years of evolving i think, but who knows.

Agreed. Only 200 years ago we were still shooting bows and arrows. Today we've conquered space and shooting rockets down with lasers. As long as we don't destroy ourselves we'll have a chance.

yes but even if we do destroy our selves there is still a chance that there are other forms of advanced life out there.
The chances are actually pretty high
It be cool if like they find out how to go back in time and like they bring us back to life, but i doubt they'll do that.

They definitely are out there. No question within my mind.

Nothing stops me, other than the fact that it's got a tendency to express itself as an ideology of renouncing ideology, and that strikes me as neckbeardy.

You think that death is the reason for being a nihilist? If anything, death gives meaning to life. Think of all those times that you killed Mario and how little his death affected you. Now think of when a loved one died. That's not to say that life has a meaning; I'm a nihilist. I think that I'm incapable of understanding what Truth is. I have opinions, but I understand that they are opinions and try not to force them down others throats. I don't believe in anything. I just think things.

There is no amount of tech that will be able to stop the expansion and eventual collapse of the universe. I literally don't think even 2 million years of tech will achieve defying this. The earth and all of life will end one day.

Sounds like you're more of an entroperian than a nihilist there, Sparky.

Thanks for jumping in. I'm just curious why I'm not fully subscribing/living up up to these beliefs I see to be as true. Not knocking you but you said "If anything, death gives meaning to life." Doesn't that go against the tenants of nihilism?

And we have an emo atheist on our hands. Seriously, we have, on average, 80 years to play around and just do shit, yet you're going to sit around and mope and bitch? If it's that bad then just kill yourself, OP.

There's still the possibility of a multiverse. If it's true then we'll just go to a different dimension.

Who really know though? We're mere mortals right now just beginning to understand our universe.

Clearly you don't understand nihilism

I thought about that too.

I am a nihilist even if humanity was able to survive threat free for all of eternity nothing has any meaning. People live and die, no matter how happy or long someone lives their impact, no matter how great, will become a line in a textbook until something else takes it's place. All of us are nothing and will be forgotten, no different from the worms that writhe in the ground.

ty. looking for real discussion here.

s o e d g y

Of course that's the case dumbshit. So find your own personal meaning in your life and be happy you fucking faggot

Not being an asshole here. So as a self proclaimed nihilist how do you live your life differently from the 99%? Are you "fight club" all the time?
