As promised in the last edition, I have uploaded a compilation of material from French artists active in the mid-late 1980s. This is the first of a total of five releases that were released from 1989 through 1995.
Expect the rest of the volumes in the coming days/weeks/etc.
>i will never suckle on those massive gothic mommy mammaries Why even live
Easton Thompson
all i want to do is snuggle up to my pale big titted gawf wife on a cold winters night while we enjoy lattes made with her breastmilk and listen to mid-90's italian goth bands on cassette is that too much to ask
Also I stumbled onto this project earlier today. Synthpop/darkwave/whatever from Berlin. Pretty enjoyable.
I have a goth GF but they aren't as big. Still, she has a good set and she wants me to touch them so I can't go wrong. Also, which do you like better and why?
I mean goth punk doesn't really give the creepy feel the look gives. They look like they'd rather listen to death/doom metal, and I know a lot of them do.
Bentley Allen
I want to pat a floofy goth gal's hair
Dylan Davis
>tfw marry cute skinny goth girl >five years later she has lost nearly all interest in goth and metal music, hangs out with her boring libtard friends, calls herself a feminist and puts on ten kilos. >fml
I like it im going to check them out to see if they have more danceable tracks .
Camden Bennett
>meet goth gf in high school >be hip-hop/video game ost guy >she breaks up with her goth bf to be with me >eventually ask her 2 months in why she'd choose me >"You're dark as hell user. Even if you don't dress like it" >She shows me Of The Wand and Moon >instantly hooked >11 years later still with her
The /dark/ subculture is everything I thought it'd be.
>be me at a goth/industrial club >wearing a sisters of mercy shirt >at the smoke patio where everyone is chillin >fellow goth chick sees my shirt >"oh sisters.. ive heard of them" >mfw
Adrian Bell
>frogposts on Sup Forums man your goth cred is off the fucking charts
Parker King
>find this band here several threads ago >really enjoy them >post them a few threads ago >get laughed at
Brandon Smith
Am I the only one who can't get over how ridiculous Sisters Of Mercy sound?
Benjamin Gray
you should've told her how cool she was and that you were really impressed
Joshua Harris
>that pic She's got a black shirt, black skirt...
Isaiah Reed
frog is og goth you stupid fucking pleb
Ryder Miller
Ridiculous in a good way right? They inspired so many future bands of the genre along with the deep voice and the mysterious dark in shades look too
Brandon Perry
I love how the whole crowd are dancing and really enjoying themselves.. nowadays people just stand and are too shy to move
Jaxson Adams
>Ridiculous in a good way right? No, in an extremely cheesy cliched way.
Owen Sanchez
...
Asher Stewart
But then she said sorry but I'm crazy tonight
Nathan Nelson
Nah you're not alone. I'm into lots of /dark/ type stuff but they sound so ridiculous that it's not dark to me, just comical
Ayden Bennett
I like crazy girls like that
Parker Foster
W H O I S T H I S S E M E N D E M O N
Bentley Myers
Long shot here but fuck it, anyone here care about early Lacuna Coil? They're billed as metal but I always thought their penchant for atmsophere over riffs made their early stuff more like "heavier than usual goth rock" than anything. Their first 3 albums and 2 EPs are great but post-Comalies it gets pretty dodgy.
>but they sound so ridiculous that it's not dark to me, just comical Exactly.
Evan Price
@itsblackfriday on instagram.
Levi Brown
Lots of the original goth bands like bauhaus dont sound dark either fag
Carson Murphy
Do you prefer >Existential /dark/ >Abstract /dark/ >History/folklore /dark/ >Horror movie /dark/ >Extreme edgelord /dark/
Leo Jackson
They're one of those bands a lot of posers like, but I minda see your point.
Justin Watson
*kinda
Landon Sanchez
Abstract, folklore, and horror movie. Existentialism is entry level thinking and in dark scenes like this people almost always resort to Nihilism. As for edgelord shit, the edgiest stuff I can stomach before cringing is FLA.
Jaxon Morales
I do somewhat think it's ridiculous but there's no way I'm missing the instrumentation If that doesn't suit you Siouxie is pretty similar
Carter Morales
I can see why. IMO they're better by Floodland, Andrew's singing really sucks on First and Last and Always. Their shit is gaudy.
Robert Howard
>tfw drunkgothtrap >about to watch cabinet of dr caligari gimme sum /dark/ tunes my dudes
they' just have a basic rock n roll imagery with more romantic noir overtones. If that's extremely cheesy for you then you must be utterly unable to function in real life.
Either that, or you're just a delusional baby with ass-backwards notions of "cheesy" and "ridiculous".
Evan Sanchez
workinonit give me some tunes to off myself too #pray4thaalcoholpoisinin
Samuel Allen
Not that guy but don't kid yourself, I like SOM but Eldritch's presentation conjures the word tacky.
Christian Lee
Nah he pulls it off better than most "performers" in the music industry
Jose Anderson
DELET THIS
Matthew Anderson
>Gimme deathrock/dark punk pls this x2
Jose Gonzalez
>Oh, I recently listened to this. youtu.be/fPnWLUEWBQc [Remove] great underrated album. black marble is the shit
Tyler Baker
At being tacky, sure but nowadays you'll be lucky to even see him when he's on stage when they go overkill with the fog machine and the sound gets muddy.
Adam Morgan
Gee that was fucking awful. They sound like the kind of band who headlines a show held at an illegal unsanctioned 'art space' after a local rapper and a flautist.
Noah Cooper
thats really good user would fluff/10
Christian Brooks
Any of you guys like Dead Can Dance?
Mason Powell
kinda
Charles Morales
So why are you in here if you dont like one of the main /dark/ essential bands whose sound provided a good foundation for others?
Ayden Bell
Only their early stuff, the medieval and world stuff is hit or miss with me
Camden Davis
they have a solid as fuck discography
Ayden Kelly
I'd argue that SOM inadverdantly damaged goth music because since F&L&L a bunch of faggots have been have been shoving their voices down their throats and wailing to drum machines.
Mason Jackson
Their medieval period is my favorite one, I always imagined that's how all of goth would sound like.
Aiden Moore
why are there so many goth songs called "Lorelei"?
Austin Hill
How the fuck is that supposed to be a bad thing?
Grayson Rodriguez
I find it more as their attempt to escape the goth label from 1984 but ended up creating their own.
Colton Nelson
Because it's a bunch of wannabes aping and copying a sound in a way that could never compare to the original. Why listen to a cheap knockoff when you can get the real thing for the same price and better quality?
Jason White
cause I sometimes get bored of listening to the real thing on repeat and I need a slight amount of variation even if it's somewhat less good. Also Eldritch's voice is one of the best voices to imitate.
Besides it's not like SOM were so masterful that their copycats are significantly worse.
Jonathan Campbell
If anything that's exactly why they're worse, SOM has a simple formula but these clones somehow manage to make it worse than at the very least improve upon their work.
Lucas Jones
>they're worse because they aren't as good instead of being better dude you aren't even expressing yourself in a rational manner anymore. You aren't gonna convince me that SOM's influence was badwrong with that kind of nonsense.
Caleb Baker
>Wanna start a /dark/ band >I'm the only /dark/ person at my Uni >Live in a shithole where the only independent music within two hours is soundcloud hip hop, Pink Floyd covers and pop punk so we would never get any gigs anyway
