>what are context clues?

The pinacle of cinematic quality. Don't take it seriously, it's a meme word

It just means movie in some other language or some shit. So whenever you see threads asking "is this kino?" It just means "is this movie?"

It means a movie that it is good without being too good. Typically it is a movie of slightly above average quality that is neither popular nor obscure.

Man people here are actually giving serious answers and not trolling, WTF?

No it doesn't. Actual real life definition please, not some Mongolian knitting symposiums made up imaginary definition.

I'm Polish so "kino" means "cinema" to me, I get how and why everyone uses it the way they do here but it's still kind of amusing. I've started browsing Sup Forums like a year ago btw.

Its the german word for "film"

Literally the German word for film but it looks and sounds pretentious so retards on here use it to describe a film they think is good.

>Is DKR capekino?
>Is 2001 spacekino?

>Actual real life definition please, not some Mongolian knitting symposiums made up imaginary definition.

this post is kino.

It's pretentious enough to blend in, but not so pretentious that I don't want to read it.

I was a newfag once. I didn't ask questions. I just lurked and learned the Sup Forums language from experience. Asking what kino is, is like asking what dubs are.

Okay, here's the real life definition. Kino means a movie that Sup Forums likes that isn't discussed frequently on Reddit. The films of Wes Anderson and Hayao Miyazaki are not kino because Reddit likes them. The problem is that Reddit is pretty knowledgeable about movies, so there are no truly excellent obscure gems that only Sup Forums knows about. Without recourse to obscurity as a means to differentiate themselves from Reddit, Sup Forums now resorts to expressing favoritism for movies that are neither popular nor obscure. Movies that are good without being so good that Reddit frequently talks about them. Movies that are comfortably mediocre.

>all those meme definitions from summerfags

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino_(movement)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kino_International_(company)

That has nothing to do with the Sup Forums meme.

this...
is kino

It actually has.

While most of the memeposters here aren't aware of it, the movement and the company are centered around the same concept, which is artsy cinema.

...

Kino does not mean artsy cinema. Most movies described as kino on Sup Forums are middlebrow film studio productions.

>Most movies described as kino on Sup Forums are middlebrow film studio productions.

That's the meme. They're not kino but we are pretending they are such in order to mock the pretentious directors and fans.

I've been wondering this too

look at this screenshot?

Is it an kino?

Yes, I suppose that is correct. I thought you meant that kino refers to artsy cinema. I doubt most fa/tv/irgins are aware of the existence of Kino International, though.

>that terrible lightning

No.

Sausage Party is true kino

Like these dubs?

Kino is a washed up word, K:némä is the next level.

Just stop

Nothing. Don't worry about it. The fewer people who use it, the quicker it will go away

There you go family.

>Is DKR capekino?
>Is 2001 spacekino?

Since kino means film, whenever those type of questions are asked, they should be interpreted like this:
>Is DKR capefilm?
>Is 2001 spacefilm?

The answers being yes, DKR is a cape film. And yes, 2001 is a space film.

>this post is kino.

You're dumb.

>look at this screenshot?
>Is it an kino?

No, because it isn't moving, dummy.

Movie theater in Norwegian

wow, this thread reminded me that 90% of Sup Forums is retarded

Reality checks are always good.

>K I N O

It's a foreign word for cinema which was repurposed to mean "arthouse" ironically and has been repurposed by memers unironically to mean the equivalent of "good."

Though, the actual ironic joke made by actual Sup Forums posters was to mock pretentious "style over substance" mainstream hollywood directors like snyder and nolan.

Is it possible for ME to be kino?

>Context clues when you faggots made a meme out of it and will call literally anything kino

I'm recording your post with my camera, should make some great retard kino.

What's Snyder doing with all those shitty hipster directors?
