Military coup would be nearly impossible to organize because the way the military is set up. We don;t use a regimental system, and move people around a lot. A corp commander would have an enormous chain of subordinates he'd have to get onside that are just rotating through units from 1-3 years typically. Private Snuffy could easily be in the division for a couple of years and had 2-3 different company and battalion commanders already. The current system does not really encourage a devotion to unit and command like a roman legion or other nations, where you are recruited directly into the regiment for your entire career.

I don't know what animates your thinking. Armies aren't abstract things, they are comprised of serving men and are only effective when lead and manned by quality men. See the Iraqi's armies collapse aginst IS.
Those men have poltical views similar to other men in their society. And White men will always be more effective fighting as armies and fighting as armies, even when outnumbered, against non-Whites, certainly against Blacks and Arabs/Muslims (perhaps a little less so against Asians and Hispanics).
