Okay niggers, which one of you faggots did this...

Okay niggers, which one of you faggots did this? This went too far and I'm not sure there's turning back from this point.

Some fat neckbeard is about to get vanned

Pretty sure they've already found a work around. Not too worried about it.

Just do a system restore to a restore point a few weeks ago. Unless they were smart enough to delete those.

>use windows
>get encrypted
lol

Only retards manage to get to the point where they got their computers infected. Why would anyone click on a suspicious emails ffs. It's a natural selection if you ask me.

Im sorry for you OP but this is legit.
This is a ransomware. You better pay directly if you're not sure that you can work around it.
As soon as you recover your files, get e backup and copy it on a new hard drive that you physically separate from your computer.

Pynya hackers

you stupid nigger
it's the NSA testing the power of his prototype.

Looks like it's just generic ransomware though..
How can the NHS security be so shit.

It's not so generic. It's using a flaw a number of Windows exploits to spread.

Not how system restore works. This ransomware encrypts your personal files. The virus can be removed but your still fucked now because your personal files you care about are encrypted.

Fuck paying them. Screw your porn and other files. Download a windows ISO from microsofts site and burn it to a USB or CD then boot into it. Format your hard drive and reinstall windows. This time don't do stupid shit.

What a greedy nigger , 300 dollars ? Shit if it was like 30 bucks most people would pay without a second thought. But I'm supposed to trust some fatass with that much ?

I don't think he's after money. I think he's just evil bastard and want's to piss people off.

Just how stupid are you? You are not supposed to click every link that you see or install every piece of shit app you find? You did this to your self, now suffer.

Windows is perfectly safe for as long you know what you are doing. Most of the normies don't but hey, that keeps me in business. For me however, haven't had a single issue since 3.1x. This covers shit like OP is going through tho, every thing else possible that is related to the OS it self has caused me to age a bit faster.

Estimated to have mad over 350,000 so far this weekend. Genius. Well done comrade.

Are you the one who clicked on that link in that nigger thread?

No need to estimate, just check transactions to the Bitcoin ID

It doesnt work like that you dumb kike
The wannacry ransomware is a worm
it looks for vulnerable or non updated pcs through the internet and it infects you. You dont even have to run or clicko n anything

>You dont even have to run or clicko n anything

You literally dont. It infects you through a network using the leaked windows exploits.

Click / install was just an example you miserable fuck. Never the less, it is still the most common way how ppl get their PCs fucked up.

All the files I care about are backed up in the cloud and on some older drives. So I have nothing to lose, except time with a reformat. Also cloud is verz cheap. Like 1.2 euro a month for 100 GB. Gets cheaper the more I get.

But cloud could be infected too and what you'll do then?

Only retards don't have backup files hehehe

Burned a few discs with the stuff I love

use a mac, stupid idiot

M$ released a patch for this in March, so if you are getting updates you are safe.

If you are running windows without updates, then it could happen to you.

And you can get infected just by being connected to the internet, there's no need to open email attachments or anything else, the worm will test random IP addresses looking for a machine that can be infected.

shit

holy shit.. maybe you should read a bit, before you spout utter bullshit.

Fellow Anons. Do you have files in your computers worth 300 bucks? I sure don't.

If you really do have this. Your fucked lol. Pay or get a new device. Unless you know what your doing, and you have the computing power to do decrypt it, your fucked.
Everyone in the world is playing with devices they know nothing about. Myself and people like me, we control the world people submerge themselves in. I can hop an air gap, pass firewalls, find/copy/spoof certificates, cover my tracks, and cause havoc. I, personally, do NOT do this though. I make money off of trying to protect people from this. But not poor broke jokes like you.

Yeah man I do. I have a lots of project's and applications I developed for months. Fuck that shit. Even tho, there's a really slim chance that my computer will be infected. There are billions and billions of computers around the globe.

all ive got is ps1 games and the occasional porn file, i can barely afford internet so fuck paying that ill just start again

I doubt it. I keep the app closed. The only way I can think of the files in the cloud get compromised is if the ransomware encrypts them and they get synced encripted like that, so I keep the app closed. I also have them on some other HDDs. I know it is not impossible to lose them, but I try to reduce the chance as mush as possible.

...

I should do that too.

Because public sector workers. They're the people who couldn't make it in the real economy.

Even if I am behind a router?

Cheaper to to pay all the ransoms.

If only either of you were smart enough to understand. Yes, this particular ransomware is for windows, BUT, let me be the one to warn you. There are so many ways to fuck your little MAC world up. Fuck your MAC, and Fuck you for thinking your safe.

True, more primitive technology is less vulnerable to infection.

My pocket calculator never caught a virus, nor did my abacus.

HOLY SHIT! MY FUCKING SIDES!
Research something kid.

please sir, refer to my last comment -

>lots of project's and applications I developed for months
And you don't have backups?
What the fuck, user? That's the most basic level of preparedness.

fuck
Going to make copies right now. Starting to feel paranoid as fuck.

Unfortunately this is a worm that takes advantage of an exploit discovered/used by the NSA that lets it install itself on you computer without your knowledge and without you needing to do anything else than turn on your machine.

It then encrypts your files in the background and when it has a sufficent ammount of it securley locked down it will notify you that you will not be able to obtain these file again if you don't pay up.

Oh yeah, and to put the icing on the cake it also removes any and all standard restore/backup files it can find. It is really quite nasty.

can i haz link?

Uncertain... a good firewall should stop this in it's tracks, but usually people port forward way too much and/or place a computer in a DMZ which bypasses the entire firewall in the router. If the worm manages to get to that computer it is inside the LAN and it has then free reign to all the devices behind the router.

sorry bro. it got away from me.

Okay. thanks.

I honestly don't know why so many of you freak out about this? Nobody keeps external backups? Is security not important to anyone?

if your router has a firewall and it is set with all incoming connections to deny then all's good

plz no bully

does anyone know what encryption method is used?
If it's not on the binary level, you could theoretically just do a hard analysis of the data and reverse engineer any data that was encrypted. You would need a second computing device for this, and probably a couple live machines to keep from infection.

Firewalls don't stop real attackers. Let's be honest

I finally get to make my first Sup Forums post after over a decade of lurking. You are fucking stupid as fuck if you got infected. If you kept your Windows up to date, this would have never happened. You probably pirated it. How does it feel? I paid for my Windows because I am not a moron, I get updates that prevented this as well as knowing I have an uncompromised operating system. I hope you get fucked OP, because only retards of the highest degree get infected by anything.

I primarily use linux x64 and am an ifag with an iP7, my router is on open-source cfw and I use a secondary firewall on my linux machine with default rejection of incoming and outgoing ports, ipv6 disabled, and some kernel hardening as per the Lynis security auditing application.

How fucked am I?

How much expertise do you have in secure information technologies? Because it doesn't seem like a lot. A firewall is such a basic level of security an autsitic child could pass most.

Anyone have legit confirmation that if you did pay the "ransom" that they made good on the deal, and let you have your stuff back?

Just curious.

true, it's only one of many steps you should take

nice trips
AES, so unless you got a supercomputer you're shit outta luck

Windows Marketing Shill detected.

What should it be if not on the binary level? What are you talking about?

I used to be an admin of #penispump on efnet, lol, but alright

Well, this is only a Windows exploit so you were safe from the fourth word in your sentence.

Even with a supercumputer the decription would take billions of years

So I'm just gonna hop IBMs air gaps to get the schematics for their quantum CPU lol

I have not read anywhere that anyone have actually gotten any kind of response from the "hacker".

Would invest the money in a backup solution instead and learn from this mistake.

Not all encryption methods are on the binary level. Fucktard.

Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on?

Kek

this shit was just on the news they suspect "russian hackers/mobs"

Have never heard the term, and I am not getting any sensible results on google... do you know what you are talking about?

on average. a zombie horde of several hundred million devices would reduce that time significantly.

This is why ppl should have local backups in a drive that can be easily disconnected after each run. Just saying. Normies are stupid enough to keep all their shit in one single place and IF they have a cloud drive, they just save their shit on the local folder while keeping the app connected to the actual service.

Win-Win?

And sry, a drunk finn here so excuse me for my grammar / typos

actually 1billion billion years
www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1279619

amazon glacier is cheap for backups, it's like $0.40/month for 200~GB, at least in my case. I heard the fees for downloading it 'instantly' are quite high as they're said to use physical tape backups

...

Aren't you finns always drunk or in a sauna?

last time i got something virus like was an exe that installs a shitton of ads programs and bullshit antiviruses. I killed it via task manager before it could start the trustedinstaller exe.

i dont know what sites you have to frequent nowadays to catch a virus.

or drunk in the sauna.

I'm behind 4 HDMI cables, so I'm safe.

come on, it's quite funny. anybody died because of the infected hospitals yet? would do the same, just for the lulz

Well yea, I mean initially it starts with some dipshit on your network opening an email. Then everyone on your vlan is fucked.

Just remember to encrypt you files yourself before giving anything to Amazon. They are so deep in bed with the NSA that they probably have a little bed & breakfast right next to their datacenter just for them.

Yes, but no sauna tonight. My son got sick before I had to deliver him back to my cunt ex so spent the whole day in a local hospt. Doesn't matter tho, can drink without sauna aswell.

Don't forget the flinging feces at it

but alc only really kicks when you are in sauna :( i fell you bro.

...

True...

> Send son to hospital
> Hospital infected with crypto-worm
> Drink away the pain in the sauna

Ay, it does but didn't feel like spending 2h heating it up. No electicity, just wood, I like it traditional. Maby tomorrow, have a month to spare since it's a vacation time for me... actually, first one in 6 years.

last time I got a virus using windows was when I was 12, been virus free for almost 10 years. fuck, I don't even have a 'real' antivirus other than MS defender on win10, I pretty much figured out what programs were the best of their class for my usage scenario and never really needed to d/l new programs, I've since switched to linux and am interested in firmware/hardware hacking out of boredom

Do you know how unfeasible that even is?

Your fucked op my lg microwave keeps getting infected with this Baby back bullshit

This.
I download malwarebytes once a month, do a run and uninstall it.

they have. microsoft have released a patch for all of their operating systems including .... XP. yus. Windows xp has a patch for this. 10-Q Microballs.

statistically? practically nil.

this wanna.cry was already solved.

by a 22 yr old guy in uk no less.

Yes, you should try reading a book.
An example of binary encryption would be: using a RNG or PRNG to randomly encrypt each bit. If using a PRNG it is not totally secure (neither is a RNG, but that's a whole other discussion, because nothing is TOTALLY safe), a PRNG is easily calculated.
