Zero features. Just Damon being himself. Humanz was by far their worst record, except for some songs. And those songs had heavy Damon vocals.
i liked Humanz more than anything else they've ever done, mainly because it didn't have tracks like this on it.

I think one of the main reason I don't like Humanz is that in the past the features fit in to the gorillaz sound while still allowing room for Damon and the albums felt cohesive. A bunch of songs on Humanz just felt like the feature's songs( or just improv, like with grace jones) with Damon's ipad vocals on a couple lines to make it "a gorillaz song". I also blame the Twilite Tone for the production sucking so bad.
He now makes the basis for gorillaz songs on garage band then rerecords some parts later. I can't remember what interview he said this but he said something like he didn't rerecord the vocals if "the magic" wasn't there again or some shit
See here's the thing though: the "gorillaz sound" has always been predicated on other artists picking up the slack. Their non-feature stuff is rarely interesting. The best songs on their first 2 albums were all reliant on other artists.
so he probably just compresses and distorts them to make it sound less like he recorded it on an ipad. it doesn't work.
I gotta disagree. Their first album is my favorite and it has the least features. I think their main strength is their production and picking the right feature for the right track.

They're pretty liberal. I was just saying that their features really didn't make it feel like Gorillaz. Also I really enjoyed Strobelite, Submission, Charger, She's My Collar, Andromeda, and Busted and Blue, which the majority of those tracks have black features, so what's your point?

Really enjoyed the song, it's something I really wish Humanz was stylized after. I still thought Humanz was a pretty good album, but it could've used more fun Damon-Centered tunes. Whatever is to come from this, I'm excited. And while it's cool to see who they work with, I hope Damon takes more control over the tracks, this just proves Damon can still do it and do it well.
Gorillaz always had black artists. It's just the ones they chose for Humanz sucked ass.
