Everything critics hated about James Gunn's Super, they "loved" about James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy"

But no, there's no Marvel bias.

Were the audience paid off too?
This movie is shit deal with it.

Guardians of the Galaxy is James Gunn-lite. Like VERY lite. There was no comical rape scene in Guardians of the Galaxy.

God damn, shut the fuck up, man. Super is not that good of a movie.

Ellen Page legit raped a man in this movie and it was played for laughs.

Neither was Guardians of the Galaxy

No it wasn't, it was extraordinarily uncomfortable.

Bad thread.
Faggot op.

Nobody said anything about anyone being paid off. I said there is a tangible bias toward Marvel movies, and there is.

They aren't even comparable things you fucking idiot. GotG was a shitty summer action flick. It was completely inoffensive and surprisingly accessible for what it was. It sure as fuck wasn't art but it succeeded at what it was trying to accomplish.

So?

Don't you have a petition to sign Dcuck?

>Guardians of the Galaxy was bad, but it was bad on purpose which is good.
Yes, that sounds worthy of acclaim.

Keep the tears coming!

>it succeeded at what it was trying to accomplish.
What the fuck kind of an argument is that? What, so a movie is automatically good if it "sets out what it is trying to accomplish"? What does that even mean? What did Super attempt to accomplish? It didn't seem to be swinging for high art. It was a quirky and subversive take on the superhero genre. I'd say it pretty much succeeded at that. By that logic, shouldn't it fare about as well as GotG?

Super honestly isn't a good movie. Could have been good but failed 10 minutes in.

nu-male DCucks at it again! Love it!

Don't you have a feminist rally to attend? Or is that after you bring your tranny boyfriend to another showing of suicide squad?

Are you literally autistic?

Is this movie worth watching? I've always wanted to check it out.

Yes, it's like a better version of Kick-ass.

But I didn't like Kick-Ass.

This.

No Marvel movies have their directors niche, if they even accidentally hire a director with one.

They're as formulaic as Disney animated features. Wait, Marvel movies ARE Disney animated features.

No its not a good movie and it's not really worth watching. I didnt like super oe kick ass

>Mousketeer unironically calling DCucks feminist numales
wew lad.

You should watch Guardians of the Galaxy. It is a perfect movie.

Except that Guardians is GOAT, go cry in a corner DCuck

t. 14 years old

It's a superhero film not put out by Marvel or Chris Nolan. What did you think would happen?

Go for it. It's on netflix. It's a "superhero" movie that manages to be both irreverent and poignant and has a strong directoral voice.

wew I didn't know this board didn't like Super at all, I thought it was a little above average, what's so bad about it?

>implying you wouldn't enjoy it if that happened to you

No talking tree man

>GotG had graphic violence, jarring tonal shifts

Nothing it's pretty funny, I like Super Jewsus or whatever that dude was called.

Wondering why Super is more polarizing than Guardians of the Galaxy is like wondering why Lost Highway is more polarizing than The Elephant Man.

But you are a numale, redditor

I wish Ellen Page would rape me.

>searching google for a specific image and grabbing it from the first source without even visiting the site = reddit.
But no, you're right. Reddit hates Marvel. All normies hate Guardians of the Galaxy. It is Sup Forums: the movie.

Super is the bridge to terabithia of capeshit

Jarring tonal shifts is a pretty good way to describe it

Great movie though but way too depressing for normies

>Super
>like Guardians of the Galaxy
Those are two very different movies with very different tones and messages. Super was about how anyone who went around doing the whole street level vigilante thing is crazy, and not in a fun comic book way, but in a legitimately unsettling and self-destructive way.

Guardians of the Galaxy on the other hand is a silly sci-fi film about a team of misfits learning to be friends.

Seriously OP did you not watch one of them or something?

It's purposefully jarring. It's the story of a delusional 30 something man who puts on a superhero costume and goes around braining people with a giant wrench in order to win back his ex wife. It would be bizarre if there were no consequences for that, and the Ellen Page ending is supposed to hit you like a sack of hammers. And it does, quite powerfully.

I hate it when nobody checks 'em

>Dwight Schrute having gross nerd sex with Juno

was this the most disgusting scene in the history of film?

there's clearly a bias towards the pleb disney formula.

but any studio could use the very same popcorn flick formula, if they weren't so retarded.

8/10 movie

Is Super technically a cult classic now?

Yeah cuz critics hated TDKR

Where did he say that it was bad?

Soneone posted it in another Suicide Squad thread but Marvel capeshit movies are films that keep everyone happy except for some autistic fans and Sup Forums who were going to hate it regardless.

What's the fucking problem?

This entire thread is based on someone's idea that film critics have ever been consistent.

For fuck sake I realised that shit wasn't true when I was a child and Ebert & Roeper hated FOTR then after being in the minority gave a thumbs up to TTT despite it having the same issues

>Ebert & Roeper hated FOTR
How could anyone hate it?

>Guardians of the Galaxy
>Graphic violence

Pick one you autistic fucktard.

Yes, there is bias.

Who cares? Hopefully you can decide for yourself if a movie is good or not.

2 towers >> fotr >>>>>> trotk

GotG was great, fuck off.

he was fired, dipshit

Do you really think anyone that hates the Marvel movies has ever watched them?

They're fun, forgettable actions movies, anyone that's actively upset at Marvel is an autistic contrarian DCuck who's butthurt that Warner Bros is shitting the bed with not only the DCEU , but all of their blockbusters (Tarzan, Pan, Jupiter Ascending)

Because it's boring. Especially when compared to the other two.

Marvel makes the best films ever, man. Just deal with it. They're all the same.

...

I hate the 2000's twee aesthetic so much, i cant think of one movie that did this and holds up as a film. its like a warning color on frogs.

and no fuck napoleon dynamite

Yeah, they liked it because they were biased after TDK, that actually backs up the point that bias exists in film criticism

whatever hollywood culture picks up has probably already been kitsch for about half a decade

>there's marvel bias!
>but it doesn't count for this one case that proves me wrong because I say so

A lot of marvel tie in stuff for Guardians was pretty bad (thanos/ the over all plot with the gem)
So I thought that Gunn wasn't allows to do his own thing with guardians. That Disney kept him on a leash

But seeing his other movies maybe the Disney over sight is a good thing

They are totally different films you autistic fuck. GotG is a family friendly action block buster and super is an adult deconstruction of the idea of super hero's.

they hated it because it shows how a woman is capable of raping a man

what part of GotG had extreme violence and blood and sex with underage-lookalike?

why the fuck are you so butthurt, DCfag? go watch your shitty movie 10x more, but dont push it here and talk shit on other movies

And? You don't that's interesting that a scene where the roles were reversed it would make the film detestable instead of funny?

The only film i can think of that has a 'man rape a woman for laughs' scene if wolf of wall street and it's more played to show how pathetic and empty his life has become.
