Why does rugby league exist anymore?
>JUST DIE ALREADY

Union shall close the gap to League in rules in next decades.

Depends if the Irish get their way.
They have started down the slippery slope of over reacting to perfectly legal tackles

Irish are genetically cry babies - spent their whole existence whining

I assure you we're just annoyed that the traditional response of "decking some uppity prick" has been deemed illegal. What's the point of playing the game if you can't concuss a white man pretending to be a cannibal?

The only reason we now oppose it is that refs have removed right of reply. Used to be that when someone got a cheapshot on you your teammates got them back. Now they're not allowed (in b4 bitching about the 99 even though it was a perfectly legitimate and justified tactic).

Cane, for example, should have been decked for what he did to Chaparro in Super Rugby. Maybe then he wouldn't have done the exact same thing to Henshaw. The fact he's been let off for the same offence twice in one year without even getting beat up for it by someone is a fucking joke.

I'll rearrange your face

Pathetic

Cane is a ruthless thug hungry for blood #justice4robbie

I'm not saying that. I'm saying he's a stupid cunt with a tendency for clumsy hits.

Maybe if the Jaguares or the Irish team had been allowed to beat the shit out of him, he'd learn how to time his tackles.

I just like ragging on cane if I'm being honest.
Didn't he get mysteriously injured in a ruck soon after the henshaw incident though, coincidence, or revenge?
What is the 99 thing btw? I s that the one in all in mentality?

Because Benjamin is a proud worcesterman. I remember an interview with him where he said "verily, the only honour greater to me than playing for my home nation of England would be playing for Worcester, my native land where my family first tilled the soil in the year of our lord 1082".

>I s that the one in all in mentality?
Exactly. Willie John McBride captained the Lions to South Africa in 1971. At the time, SH sides figured Lions teams were soft and could be intimidated. The non-national sides used to go out with more interest in injuring Lions players than winning the game.

After a rough 1971 tour of New Zealand and Australia, McBride decided that if anyone was targeted, they should shout 99 (short for 999) and every Lion would hit the nearest opposition player. They did a few times it in the non-Test games, and once against South Africa, just to show they weren't going to be walked on. Ironically, despite supposedly priding themselves on toughness and starting the whole thing, the SH teams are STILL bitching about it.

Thanks fo rthe explanation, I had heard something about that a few years back I think, maybe george hook had mentioned it or something.
>shout 99 (short for 999)
We are not an imaginative bunch....
He coulda remained a proud leinsterman but for the smell of a few pounds, high treason.

>left one year ahead of becoming Biniáimin O'Te, proud son of the Dublin docklands, whose family settled the area before the Vikings
What a traitor. At least we still have Connacht's brave Bundee Aki to look forward to.

Question for long time Rugby Union fans:

Which current American Football (NFL) players would adapt well to Rugby Union?

This is a serious question and not meant as any kind of slight or insult to either sport.

I like both sports, for the record.

I think any tight end, as they do both dirty work (blocking and pushing people around) and running, just like in rugby. Also MLB's would cope well as they have to run fast and have to tackle, just like in rugby.

I'm also not sure people here know this, but the USA now has a professional rugby union.

The article was on USA rugby's site. The pro union itself is still in its infancy, though.

Nate Ebner

I don't know NFL players but I feel that the quick running guys who catch the ball could be good outside backs if taught how to tackle and catch the ball better.
The fat guys at the front and blocking type guys wouldn't transfer very well imo

You don't much about football do you

You managed to decipher that did you.
Congratulations.
>throwing guy
Useless
>kicking guy
Useless
>fat defending guys
Too unfit to play a whole game at international level
>fat attacking (defending guys)
Same as above
>running to catch the ball guys
As I said in my other post. Need to learn to catch in a way that's relevant to rugby and tackle in a way that's relevant
>defend the running guys
The same but even more emphasis on the bits they need to improve

That's every position I can think of. There is a reason no one has successfully transferred any oval ball sports other than NRL and Rugby union or sevens (which have a huge over lap in skills)

They are 2 sports that are just too different.

I think the best would be corner backs and shit like that.

It's easier to teach someone how to run with the ball than it is to teach someone how to defend and be fearless in taking the man on.

Corner backs and safeties have at least some hand eye coordination because they need to be able to swat the ball away or make a pick and they also know how to tackle. If you were going to be looking at picking anyone from the NFL you'd be looking exclusively at the defensive team.

The running-back would probably make for a decent centre if he could learn to pass. And I'd wager that the blockers and tacklers on the offence and defence would make okay front rows.

Off to watch Ospreys v Scarlets today lads

Football has so many specialist positions it's hard to say. Like you've got tackles/blockers and tight ends who could make great flankers in rugby but what's their passing and movement like?
Easiest thing to do would be use a running back on the wing or maybe a quarter back at flyhalf if he learned to kick.

Post your tips for who'll do well in the SR next year.

I reckon top 5 will be
>Chiefs
> Hurricanes
>Crusaders
>Reds
>Lions

Chefes
Furacões
Cruzados
Leões
Onças

GODspreys win again
Alun-Winning Jones confirmed for Loinst Our Captain

>Hurricanes
>Chiefs
>Lions
>Blues
>Stormers

Unironically the Blues will do well. They really had a strong side that played well towards the end of last season. Tana is building on top of that and they will do well. I felt like I needed to give the blues an explanation where the other teams where self explaining

Imo a tight end would make the best rugby player out of football positions.. they are both blockers and receivers. Also teaching them how to pitch would be easy

Just got back from the 'game' .. literally one of the worst I've ever been to see live.

Watched a stream of it off a Welsh channel. Fucking hell, I thought gaeilge was hard to follow.

Rugby.

>AWJ will probably start for the Lions even though he barely deserves to be in the squad

Hello lads! Anyone 'ere watchin the Gloster vs. Harley Quinns match? Just picked up this rugby thing yesterday lads and I think I'm likin' it lads. Why is there no match thread for this? NBC told me this was a big match. Thanks mate.

Why is a field goal worth 3 points like american football, but a touchdown is only worth 5 points instead of 6? Doesn't really make sense to me for 2 field goals to be greater than a touchdown desu mate.

Our conversions (PAT) is worth 2 points

But the Harlequinns have 3 points at the halftime timeout, how did they do that?

That's a penalty kick, they are worth 3 and are awarded when the opposition commints an infringement.

You kick them while you are running and still have the risk of being tackled, that's why they are worth more

I play high school rugby (not a school sport) and i was wondering if it's a good idea to bring my 8.5/10 gf to a game. Do you think all the sweating would gross a chick out or would all the work/strength impress a chick. Thoughts?

Always thought Gronk could be a top no 8

The substitute half back will hit on her. If your a smelly forward that is an issue

I'm the substitute half back...
>mfw

They trialed a new scoring system in NZ this year
IIRC it was 2 points for any kick (field goal, penalty or conversation) and 6 points for a try.

Way back in the day kicks where worth more points that a try. The reason a try is called a try is because if you score one you get to try to kick the ball to score more points. Slowly as the game has changed so have the rules

Here is a link that will clear up the history of points in rugby

The man is statistically the best lock in the NH right now.
