Mr. Robot Season One

"You knew all along, didn't you?"

>TV Show expects/forces me to watch through multiple times to understand what's going on.

A programme about your average Sup Forums autist isn't really compelling me to do that.

Fuck that noise/10

Don't try to fit in faggot.

You can't be serious lad

I am. It's been a decent binge, but dear god the pacing is awful.

People, who don't get it are objectivly not intelligent enough.

>watch through multiple times to understand what's going on.
What color is your helmet?

S2s pacing is worse, I think that's my only flaw with this show

Rami is a pretty good actor would make a nice Robin for a live teen titans movie

>People, who don't get it are objectivly not intelligent enough.

Grammar and spelling could be seen as objective tests of intelligence. You failed.

>It's been a decent binge

This is accurate. The show doesn't hold up well to critical thought

Nice bait, but this thread isn't for amerifags and/or britbongs only. At least I can speak more languages than you, although my grammar and/or spelling may not be always correct. You fail in life.

Is Shayla best girl?

White. So when I'm fucked up by something dark, I'll be a cuck.

I'll watch S2 when it's finished airing. Not worth following week by week tbqh.

Dickbag. A bullet sounds the same in every language so fuck off outta this thread.

The "hooker with a heart of gold" cliche is one the things this had going.

Oh Shayla

>literally called 'Mr Robot'
>robots are what /r9k/fags call themselves

Would wife without hesitation, she had a big heart

>A bullet sounds the same in every language

Bet she has a good looking pussy.

Protip: she's hot in Blue Mountain State

>A bullet sounds the same in every language so fuck off

It's an allegory about a new Prophet.
Frogface is the new Prophet, struggling between his goals and his own linux's daemons.
Darlene is his first Apostle, struggling with the real world, and trying to interpret Frogface's sometimes occult words.
Tyrell is Judas, as smart as Frogface, but sillier.

>average Sup Forums autist
nah, Elliot may be a sperg riddled with social anxiety and awkwardness but he at least had a well paying job and lives independently in a nice apartment in NY which already greatly differentiates him from the autists here

>I'll watch S2 when it's finished airing
Don't do that, the pacing is so bad that you'll be wasting 5 hours watching filler. When S2 is finished I'm going to edit together an abridged version that cuts out half the scenes with Rami talking to Mr Robot and his shrink since they add nothing and go nowhere. I'll also cut out some of the filler they added to pander to reddit.

Really, the first 6 episodes of S2 could be cut down to 2 episodes and you wouldn't miss anything. So far the best character in this season does nothing but talk about Seinfeld, that's the best filler they had, the rest was shit.

Not to mention he's dripping in bitches for some reason.

>Tyrell is silly

Can we talk about how fucking ridiculous this character was?? I hope he actually is dead

>in a nice apartment

Have you seen this show?

Elliot's apartment IS nice, just quite dark and bare

WHERE'S TYRELL

He's just some shitty discount version of Frank Underwood. It's no wonder several actors are casted from HoC.

>TV Show expects/forces me to watch through multiple times to understand what's going on.
huh? it's very straightforward storytelling. why would you need to view it multiple times to understand it? i get watching the show multiple times for enjoyment. nothing wrong with that. but the narrative is pretty A-B-C, buddy. and what do you even mean by expect/force? a tv show does no such thing. it's a media product expecting/forcing you to do nothing, not even watch it if you don't want.

>for some reason
because it's a series aimed at 15 year olds on reddit. He's a Mary sue self-insert with two random flaws thrown in to feign some depth.

>dripping in bitches
One lifelong friend and one junky neighbor. I'd hardly call that impressive

not to mention that it's only dark and bare because Elliot is supposed to be some dark and edgy hacker god. I know some autistic heroin addict hackers and they don't have clean apartments, they have piles of random shit they bought with their massive paychecks, but they live like teenagers.

Elliot is basically what /r/sysadmin believe they are. Elliot uses Ubuntu Gnome ffs, in episode 5 he installed the tor browser from the Ubuntu repo ffs, that's always an outdated version and not recommended by the developers.

To be fair he clearly has feelings for Angela and she went with the Chad in s1, I wouldn't really say he's drowning in bitches

I thought of this during one of the Joana's early Lady Macbeth impressions. Tyrell is like Frank Underwood, if Underwood failed in every scheme.

>Autistic drug addict with mental issues
>Having a lifelong friend
kek, my nerd friends stopped talking to me when I started smoking weed, and women think you're creepy once you start talking about prism.

also Elliot would have strong feelings about systemd and spend more time arguing on mailing lists if he was a real hacker.

Maybe France or in the trunk of a car

>giving a shit what women think

Episode 9 was the most jarring episode to watch of ANY show.

Timelines going backwards and forwards. Realising Elliot was the one speaking to Tyrell with little or no impact because we already know he's crazy.
Then you have to piece together other bullshit you may have missed which means binging the whole thing again... Nah mate.

I tell girls on tinder to install signal and they stop replying ;__;

That's the shows biggest problem desu, it would make a good skiddie power fantasy but it keeps trying to be a serious 2deep4u drama.

>nice apartment in NY
gimme a break -- it's a fuckin' dive

Speaking of the improbable, how does one corporation own 70% of global consumer debt?
In season 2 when the hack is successful, how are cities across the globe maintaining order? Without liquid cash how is anyone being paid for work?

that gave me a genuine kek

maybe signal should add in the a feature to add profile picture then maybe grills will use it

real talk though it is superior to whatsapp and I wish more of my normie friends and acquaintances used it

This show isn't complex man

I thought he was Finnished...[/spoiled]

Normies think it's weird to care about anything. You could literally blackmail them with their nudes and two weeks later they would still call you paranoid for saying they should care about security.

Fucking Carlos lel

Elliot/Mr.Robot shot him at the night of the hack. The corpse is in his car's trunk. But Tyrell is still there. He's in Elliot's head now. He will always be there now, since they became Gods by taking life... Tyrell in Elliot's body does the 'dirty work' - killed Romero. I wonder, who'll be next.

i take it you're not an avid reader, right? non-linear narratives have existed for fucking ever, man. i think it's more your inability to recall previous sequences that, using your words, forces you to rewatch episodes. but of course you blame the show for your deficiencies because you're a special snowflake and it couldn't possibly be your fault.

>Without liquid cash how is anyone being paid for work?

Well, this was the kind of shit I thought they might show in S2, but instead the writers were wise enough to spend most of 6 episodes on pointless filler that doesn't go anywhere.

good one!

Darlene is crazy right?

don't know about crazy but she's definitely a bitch

It's really not that bad, I'd say it's nice, just really dark and having his mattress on the floor gives it a crack den vibe

Granted I live in London, not New York, but a studio apartment of that size and quality located in a similarly central area would cost me an absolute bombshell and would probably get taken off the market within days of being listed

She's "crazy" as in "crazy bitch syndrome". The notion that a bitch like that would be into computers is pretty far fetched, if she was she would be one of those "GAMER GIRLS xD"

Haha. Just because it's non-linear, doesn't make it any less shit. You're the one putting the pussy on the pedestal (the pussy being the narrative style).

>a character is called tyrell
>when shit starts getting intense, character vanishes
>tyrell, in blade runner, is the man who created all the replicants

Tyrell is the core personality and everything else is a figment of his imagination, including the idealized representation of himself as a successful married businessman.

Though we're not going to be shocked by that shockingly shocking revelation till season 3.

>He didnt saw Hackers.
Let me hope plz...

You're right, it's not. But it failed to keep me on the same wavelength as the protagonist.

Hackers knew what it was though, it was fun and didn't try to be much else.

Mr Robot on the otherhand, takes itself seriously and presents itself as being realistic.

well duh, the protag is CRAZY!!

>Tyrell in Elliot's body ... killed Romero.
i chalked all that up to the Dark Army

hes in prison guys

okay, that's a completely different argument, mate. we weren't discussing quality (which i haven't even touched upon), we were discussing your sperged out, completely misguided notions of what the narrative demanded. great deflection, though.

I did like how the therapist was hotted out for being into anal porn. That made me extremely happy.

>A character is called Romero.
>When he starts to prevail in the hackers group he is killed by the autistic leader.
>Romero was on the Doom/Quake first team... with Carmack as the autisitc leader... Romero got killed buy Daïkatana.

Does it make any sense ?

And if you weren't paying attention to the whole thread, we're discussing the quality of the show.

Not my apparent inability to follow a storyline (which I did, and it was still mediocre)

yeah, i'll never understand why they had to kill her off

Predictions for the S2 finale?

*Tyrell is actually dead and has become a part of Elliot's psyche
*Darlene had Romero's mother killed
*Angela seduced by Price and by season 3, will have dropped any notion of changing E-corp from the inside, becoming a power monger

I liked that reveal and thought it was well done.

I still wish her character had lived though. It seemed like her character was making heathy choices for herself.

I also felt a surprising amount of disdain for Vera. So he's doing something right.

>actors are casted
lrn2Engrish

no, mate, you know exactly what we were discussing and now you're pussying out because your dubious viewer comprehension and reasoning skills have been undermined and proven unsound. it's cool. i won't bully. have a good one.

(you)
(you)
Mr Robot, plz go.

Wow. I bet Synecdoche, New York is your favourite movie.

I wouldn't even be mad, it's a great movie.

I was irritated with this characters' philosophizing but he did make a good antagonist.

The show keeps pretending that all hoodrats are actually wise philosophers. Srs, every hoodrat character talks about the duality of man and reddit tier philosophy. It's good filler because they stretch shit out since the plot is so thin.

>Expects me know what the fuck she was on about in this scene.

Someone had a theory that they were engaged but it broke off and Elliot forgot like he forgot Darlene. If anything Angela is the one with feelings for Elliot

I think that was the point, you were supposed to think he was a fucking moron with delusions about being some kind of philosopher

> I watched 6 episodes in one sitting and the pacing was awful

why are netflixfags so obnoxious?

Mate, Mr Robot being elliot is obvious from the second episode. You're supposed to watch it knowing that, which is why Elliot says that.

I've been binging waaaay before Netflix was a thing.

Joana feels pointless to me without Tyrell, anyone else feel like that?

Because she left the asylum where elliot.tyrel was being treated, so he manufactured a death scenerio for her.

I like to be surprised. I wasn't even entirely sure what the show was about other than its about some hacker (I didn't even know he was retarded). But the new information you get from each episode just falls flat.

Take Shayla's "surprise" fate. They spend way too much time focusing on Elliot's expression, then they finally pan the shot to her in the car trunk aaannnnd... nothing. She's just dead.

"Oh, no I knew" he said, in a monotone voice.

sounds like something a crazy person would incorporate into their insanity.

Shows totally going to end with tyrell staring at a snowglobe after the headshrinkers at the asylum fry his brain with too many drugs.

>Because she left the asylum where elliot.tyrel was being treated

did I miss something in the show or is this a theory?

Someone speculated that Joanna had one of the hackers killed (Ahmed?). She's really playing the part of Lady McBeth (blood on her hands; out, out damned spot).

I think that was Romero, although i could be mistaken.

If she did that then does she know about the core members of f-society? Why would murdering one of them be beneficial to her?

Its been obvious "eliot" is in an institution since the start of season 2.

Then you didn't even watch the first episode, that's not being surprised that's being ignorant. Also the long take on Elliot's face is one of the best shots in the show and a great performance fromMalik. I think the problem is with you desu.

But he's spoken to his psychologist, If he were institutionalized wouldn't he be speaking to one of the institution shrinks?

His dealing with Ray would also make no sense. There is no institutional analogue for Elliot's mind to create that scenario.

That doesn't add up

obvious how ?

"his" shrink is the institution shrink. 90% of the show is in his head. The sitcom episode was them putting him on a drug cocktail that caused him to recede further into his fantasy world.

Also elliot isn't the core personality, tyrell is.

The show is built around the most unreliable narrator possible. It's already knocked off american psycho AND fight club, in one season. The only place left for it is "saint elsewhere." Which was foreshadowed with all the subtlety of a hammer to the face with the "early 90s sitcom" sequence.

Basically because the writers clearly lack imagination and they broadcast from the first episode they were going to try to shock the under 18 crowd with fight club's ending, it leaves people who aren't completely retarded (but sufficiently retarded to watch/care about this shit) left with nothing to do but think about the most "outrageous" "twist" the show is clearly going to try.

really?
>daily check up by mother
>daily meds
>eats with same guy every day at same spot
>has visitor meet over a table
>daily outdoor activity - basketball game
>counselor
>keeps journal/diary
>sister apprehensive to meet him

these all point to the likelihood he's in an institution.

not much

but now he has broken the cycle, and also he made the cycle deliberately like he says in the show that HE PURPOSELY made it so it is a cycle which would in theory keep him sane

>Also elliot isn't the core personality, tyrell is.
Elliot is going to fuck Tyrells wife.

Sure, maybe the problem really is with me. That fact doesn't make the show any more enjoyable however.

Also, I don't believe you're supposed to know a major plot point and then wait for it to be revealed in a later episode. That just sounds like shitty writing.
