When I was at university, I never met anybody that could cook or do basic housework, male or female. Out of the 15 people on my floor, for most of the first year they had to ask me how to wash their clothes, cook etc. The ammount of times I had to stop somebody from eating raw chicken was astonishing.

I don't know whether other generations were just as incompetant, but from what I saw, this generation certainly is.

29y male here and I must say that the only period in which I was actually cooking for myself was when I was poor as shit and had to really save money. After I bounced back I never cooked again, and I'm not planning to do it. I can just each a lunch in a bar, takes less time, it's way less trouble. So it seems that people stopped cooking because there is no point in doing it unless you are a poorfag.

I know how to cook. It's simple fucking shit. I have my mothers entire box of recipes that I know mostly by heart and everyone I know except my sister is completely dumbfounded when it comes to making edible food.

This. In my 1st year nobody cooked any decent meals with fresh ingredients except me.
1st and 2nd year I lived with some guys who were computer science autists but still total bros, and one friend off my course (chem). All of them lived on McDonalds, frozen pizza and instant noodles.
I'm doing a postgrad research course next year and expect the same thing with the guys I'll be living with then.
My gf is also the only person in her house who doesn't regularly have ready meals or takeaway.
