/daily/ - Pizza Party Edition

The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

lol

Post last week

Lona was mediocre and Kiss Me has only one really good song, which is doubly terrible considering it's a double album. For sure one of my least favorite "classics" by The Cure. They did much better before and after.

...

Wish I liked Duos for Doris and 0 a little better than I actually did.. oh well
>Keith Rowe & John Tilbury - Duos for Doris
Loved the concept and atmosphere of this album, since this was written 2 days after John Tillbury's mother died. Very unnerving, you can really feel the tension throughout this whole album.. but the best moments was when all this tension was released. An example of this would be at around the 43 minute mark of "Cathnor", you can really hear the frustration. We can never beat death, and there's nothing we can do about it. We'll never truly understand it either. After they get all the frustration and anger out of their system, the music returns to it's unsettling but quiet atmosphere. I enjoyed this atmosphere, but honestly I wish more of the whole album would be like those intense moments, since moments like these lasted very briefly, but were absolutely stunning. Although I liked how anxious the quieter parts were, I became a little bored by them.
3.5/5
>Fridolin Blumer - Camping; Cafe Bar
Most of this was just aimless plucking at the cello, a sound/ instrument which I'm not too much a fan of. Kind of good as background music though.
2.5/5
>青葉市子 [Ichiko Aoba] - 0
So comfy, so warm. I really liked her raspy melancholic voice. Didn't quite fall in love, but I do understand why so many people worship this. "i am POD (0%)" best track.
3.5/5
>Spiral Tribe - Respect To The Hardcore Mother Earth!
Yeah I guess freetekno isn't my thing. This just felt like bottom of the barrel electronic. Wasn't fun, which I think is kind of the point of it.
2/5

got it

thanks, good job :{}

I'm a mega pleb

This is surprisingly accurate.

Listenalong is just under half an hour. Do it.

didn't really listen to all that much
that the Sound album is p sicc, was one of my first Sup Forums discoveries

james blake s/t is good
and probably better than anything he did later

woops

>got trips on a post saying that Atmosphere is as good as Deltron 3030
I'm livid.

For real though I hope you like Madvillainy as much as I do

I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of The Sound's stuff. Everything I've heard by them I've loved so far.

im more confused by the choise of jedi mind tricks for foty

RIGHT ABOUT NOW
THE FUNK SOUL BROTHER

pic related

>For real though I hope you like Madvillainy as much as I do
There are several I've listened to before but I'm only marking most recent listen ratings.

Yes, I love Madvillainy.
And they're not 'as good'. Atmosphere was a 7. Deltron was an 8.

what'd you think of Man Alive

that one was a grower compared to Get To Heaven, for me

It seems like it. Wasn't too bad, thouhg.
>listening to Heterocetera again
r u ok

what do you mean :0
i listen to it every now and then

Basically reposting mine from last thread

>Not liking Stillmatic
>No liking Get Ya Mind Correct

Boy do you not like fun?

(PS I'm probably gonna grill you about this chart regardless of your opinions t b h)

thought I was on fit for a moment

i was wondering if you literally relistened to the EP every week but nvm

I'm considering listening to Lotic's previous 2 EPs, maybe I should do that now

Some tracks are going the other way round (Jesus Christ what a mess MY KZ, UR BF is) but Photoshop Handsome is my jam. Have you heard Arc yet? It's their best IMO.

I like Arc a lot at first, but a few select tracks on it waned on me a bit like Feet for Hands and Undrowned. Still really good, of course. Awe / Arc, all the singles, even The Peaks are really great.

I can understand the irritation for MY KZ, UR BF-- it really shows the band at their least developed. Tracks like Qwerty Finger are an exception: it took a while for the end of that song to really click with me, but the bridge before the outro always gives me goosebumps.

more than friends feels just like fuckin around, fallout is more like an actual release but its nowhere near as poignant as heterocetera
do listen if u feel like it

Qwerty Finger is one of the tracks that grew on me, the screams and that bit about finding a keyboard at the ocean floor are great. And talking about goosebumps: how about when Duet fucking erupts? Now that's a fucking banger.

Y e s ive replayed Duet too many times lmao

Everything Everything is great at making slower and quieter tracks along with their normal pop rock affairs

will do after I relisten to a band's entire discography

>PS I'm probably gonna grill you about this chart regardless of your opinions t b h
I can live with that.
Doggstyle was fucking great.

Viruscomix is absolute cancer

me w/ the books on the bottom

wat up
i drank the beerb
mmmmm beerb

i fight with gf
ugh
send beer over

me on the right

>Pizza Party
aight i brought the pop punk

hmm what's new except
Bedlam starting to really click with me. it's busier on a momentary level but the songs have more individual focus than i've heard in frances/amputechture, and it's got its own identity rather than "RoC with some fusion solos" unlike de-loused
i wonder to what degree he planned all those sour notes on Nothing important. stuff's p hard-hitting in that regard

>mfw Joelle used to clean the house after fights with Orim when they dated just like me

How that TDEP treating your ears?

Sup, I want to write album reviews and I want them to be at least halfway decent. What makes a good review.

purple adjectives
imagery
references to band's history
give rating

or

Introduce a theme or story to the reader
connect the presented thing with the album
explain how there are good connections but also the album lacks certain things to make it perfect
close with some sort of definitive statement that makes you sound smart

or

"this fucking sucks"

i go through phases of liking/not liking CI i think. atm i'm exloring mathcore a little bit, and there's a few bands that i think improved upon the style like uhh Lye by Mistake would be the closest one

...

find one thing you like, shit on everything else, use big words while doing it

update

>Introduce a theme or story to the reader
that just reminds me of all the "reviews" on RYM for popular albums that are basically blog posts.

more like p4k

aka their Kid A review

>Jangle&Bojangle
>Likes pigs
>Pigs make ham
>Jangle's taste is piss

Those pizzas are surprisingly accurate, love the hip-hop one.

Finished my backlog chart and it is slightly large, so large that I can't post it since the jpeg is larger than 4MB, anything I can do about that?

Split it up bud.

Hey, here we go! Got a couple albums I need to knock off.

Panasonic - Panasonic
Thomas Brinkmann, Markus Nikolai & Dominique Petitgand - .
Andy Stott - Luxury Problems

what the fuck is this monstrosity of a chart

...

Eheh, its my backlog.

this pizza chart makes prog look like the best by far, there should be a post rock one where all of the toppings are bundled in the centre and the rest is just cheese

hmm...

Rued Langgaard - Music of the Spheres
youtube.com/watch?v=REqFSOu0Frg

Pharoah Sanders - Karma
youtube.com/watch?v=2t88stnbP0g

Long Fin Kille - Houdini
youtube.com/watch?v=jIZpvceqSkY
(no full album, sadly, but I think all the tracks are available.)

was it accel that needed a rec from me

@accel i rec uh... rascal reporters - happy accidents

amazing tune desu

dug the last track a lot

this went wrong for various reasons

>italian is a bad language for rapping
>the emcee isnt even that good to begin with
>it's a fucking collab between an italian rapper and a drone metal band

this would've been quite a good drone album if it weren't for the unnecessary rapping and the attempts to sort of lay a beat over the guitar and bass feedback? it doesn't sound bad per se, it just feels strange. then again, a mashup like this one would be very hard to pull off.

luckily nadja seem to have a very big discography so at least their efforts weren't wasted. the last ten minutes of the album where the italian finally shuts up are actually really good, so maybe i should dig into them.

youtu.be/3PLmGPeLsJY

oh huh
are you keeping the albums as they were or just put them there as an indication of who went through

rudi picked some stuff i couldve picked too, how sweeEEEeeeet
