>WATCHING MOVIES WITH GIRLFRIENDS

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET OUT NORMIE

t. Lotr shitlord
Also nice grammar

nice bait!
a-almost got me to raged user haha

probably thought he was a bad guy after he chased frodo

>like oh my god they were gay for eachother?

>I SOOOOO SHIP SAM AND FRODO

The only movies you should watch with a girl are horror movies.
They get scared and you get to molest them for free after (or during).
Romcoms do the same but they're just too boring to watch.

Holy shit at first i thought its bait but now i realize there are in fact people this stipid

You're full of shit and this is a bait thread. Kill yourself.

>not cheering when a bad guy dies

>be me in theatre
>cheer the loudest when boromir gets arrowed
>win free towels and free shower pass for a month
>the crowd tipped me so well I could afford to buy the commemorative LOTR Fellowship crab bucket
>best day of my childhood

>stipid
Tell us more...

>Being noisy in a cinema
Disgusting.

Where do you live?

>Doesn't know stipid
Lurk moar

>crab bucket
Obviously Louisiana.

You need to mansplain to her that he redeemed himself and so this is a sad scene.

>Not getting crab legs at your local Kinoplex

>Watching movies that women will never understand, with women.

My 5-year-old daughter literally understood that Boromir was under the influence of the ring and redeemed himself by protecting the hobbits.

Dated girl who's favorite was lotr. Never again xe

Wait 'til she has her first period. Things will change, my friend.

wtf, i hate my wife and her son now

Twas no loss. Boromir was a bitch.

...

...

>Cheering for the death of a good man

This

I don't think women could truly get it.

Hang yourself

he was the greatest human fighter. he could have beaten aragorn with ease

he could have been a great asset in the battles to come

Why would you watch films with someone but yourself? Dumb

>girlfriends
>friends
>one of

> could beat Aragorn with ease
Come on now

>Boromir is dying
>Says he would have followed Aragorn
>That he was his king
>Aragorn is crying
>Boromir dies
>Aragorn kisses his forehead

>nu-males and women
> "I'm glad there's a strong LBGT representation in LotR"

I always hated that they never included the Boromir and Faramir flashback scenes in the theatrical version. It really showed you how much they loved each other, Boromir was truly a good brother.

Boromir is the best LOTR character. He's the only human in the Fellowship and the only one to truly die during their adventure. He's what men are. Aragorn is what men want to be.

>He's what men are. Aragorn is what men want to be.

I never thought of it that way. Thats deep. Fuck I wish Peter Jackson would have made The Hobbit movies good.

You must mean Theoden, not Boromir

It could have been good if they made it one movie instead of three. There is just no way a short book like The Hobbit needs 3 three hour long flicks.

I remember watching Daredevil where the news guy got killed by the henchmen lawyer person and I was cheering for the bad guy saying shit like "fuck him up"

I like it sometimes when the bad guys win, but it depends which bad guys.

I think so, Maybe too if Peter Jackson had the energy to do it like he did with LOTR's practical effects and real life locations.

He admit somewhere in an interview that he messed up. It's just really hard to accept how bad the Hobbit movies are compared to LOTR's

Pretty sure it was going to be two films, but had to be three in order to justify the budget and match the returns from the Lotr trilogy.

The jury is still out on how much of it should be blamed on Jackson himself.

Lord of the Rings is my sisters favorite movie. She has also read the books.
I know this is Sup Forums but I don't wanna bone my sister.

She probably likes it for the progressive gay relationship of Frodo and Sam

I don't blame him completely but it was his choice to put as much CG in the movie as he did.

>once went on a date with a girl and watched this at her place
>was too engrossed in the film to notice her and she went upstairs

my current partner hasn't seen it either - might show it her this week; extended editions

Uhh, but Sup Forums said women will never EVER understand it.

boromir could have smashed aragorn

>women can never understand these films!
>what do they know about combat and honour, they aren't like men; like me
>probably haven't even been in medieval combat how could they know what it's like

That's true.
Why do director's become champions of that shit?

I was just thinking the other day, the use of cgi is not bad in and of itself, but some serious evaluation needs to be done regarding how to approach it.

How to act well in a green screen environment for one thing.

Maybe it cant be done.

...

GET OUT NORMIE

I was thinking along the lines that they won't understand the relationships between the male characters.

The same way I don't understand women. Nothing wrong with that

He deserved it. Entitled shit and Faramir was superior in every way. Weak sinful faggot couldn't even admit the ring was a temptation or threat.

Deserved every single fucking poisoned arrow.

At least he atoned at the end, I suppose, but big whoop. Everyone confesses on their deathbed.

crazy how we're never going to get something this good again

I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to plan shooting locations and practical effects for a movie on the scale of LOTR's or The Hobbit.

Here's a quote from Peter Jackson in an interview he gave last year.

“Because Guillermo Del Toro had to leave and I jumped in and took over, we didn’t wind the clock back a year and a half and give me a year and a half prep to design the movie, which was different to what he was doing. It was impossible, and as a result of it being impossible I just started shooting the movie with most of it not prepped at all.”

You’re going on to a set and you’re winging it, you’ve got these massively complicated scenes, no storyboards and you’re making it up there and then on the spot […] I spent most of The Hobbit feeling like I was not on top of it ][…] even from a script point of view Fran [Walsh], Philippa [Boyens] and I hadn’t got the entire scripts written to our satisfaction so that was a very high pressure situation.”

It seems the studio forced a lot of it on him but he should have refused to do it unless he got time, I bet he had enough clout to get what he wanted

There's a youtube video of this, it's basically the entire staff desperately trying to explain/apologise for the movie

...

There was more where he said that for a long while only could manage a few hours of sleep a night in order to get the movie through production intime

Boromir's death was fucking gut wrenching man...yeah he was an ass for most of the journey, but only because he wanted to secure his peoples future. Of course at the end he fought so hard to try and protect his party, and the hobbits themselves, it was an extremely redeeming scene for most people to watch, but damn it breaks your heart.

Sean Bean is fucking amazing.

Why did Del Toro Leave? And weren't they both to direct at one point?
I have a feeling that Jackson could be retconning it a little here.

>Sean Bean is fucking amazing.

This, too bad him dying has turned into a Meme and we'll never get a movie where he doesn't die just because its expected

Don't start people off with the extended editions. The pacing will put them off.

They should have let Del Toro do what he wanted in the filming, hes great at what he does...I believe the Hobbit trilogy would've been so fucking great with him in charge, I was seriously looking forward to those movies.

>Why did Del Toro Leave?
It's Del Toro.
He's weird and would rather quit than compromise.
He was probably doing some weird shit and the studio was "Uh,Guillermo, this doesn't look like it's going to make a billion dollars. You better change it."

The same thing happened to his At the Mountains of Madness movie.

>tfw sean bean barely remembered playing boromir in his AMA

>At the Mountains of Madness

Fuck I want that so badly, if there is anyone who could adapt Lovecraft it would be him.

I want to see his weird shit :/
The film would make a billion dollars regardless.

I agree, fucking hate that, he's so good of an actor, but because of how good he is...it's become the 'thing to do', kill him.

>Director Guillermo del Toro and screenwriter Matthew Robbins wrote a screenplay based on Lovecraft's story in 2006, but had trouble getting Warner Bros. to finance the project. Del Toro wrote, "The studio is very nervous about the cost and it not having a love story or a happy ending, but it's impossible to do either in the Lovecraft universe."[31] In July 2010 it was announced that the film would be made in 3D and that James Cameron would become producer,[32] and Tom Cruise was attached to star.[33] This "was a startling prospect considering Lovecraft's tale had long been considered unfilmable."[33] Del Toro confirmed that the film would begin production as early as May 2011 and start filming in June.[34] However, in March 2011, it was announced that "Universal Studios refused to greenlight the project due to del Toro's insistence that it be released with an R rating rather than a PG-13."[33] According to Salon.com, "Universal wants to hold onto the project in the event that it changes its mind and decides to make it later, either as an R or PG-13 movie. But del Toro is already trying to set up Mountains at another studio (possibly 20th Century Fox).[33] However, in April 2012, del Toro posted that, due to the resemblance in premise with the Ridley Scott film Prometheus, the project would probably face a "long pause—if not demise".[35][36] In January 2013, del Toro stated in an interview that he would try one more time to get the picture made

It's painful.

Del Toro should be a independent filmmaker,
and stop relying on hollywood studio budgets,
and just make slightly more modest projects.
I don't think he'd need a billion dollarydoos to
make his lovecraftian tale properly.

Pacific rim was made with a production budget
of 190m and it wasn't even half as good as the
modest 19m Pan's Labyrinth.

Whenever females giggle at the companionship between characters like Aragorn and Boromir, or Frodo and Sam, or Gimli and Legolas, I point out that by twisting these male bonds of mutual trust, respect, and loyalty into gay fanservice, they are only revealing an insecurity based on not understanding or experiencing such human connections and so they try to dismiss and diminish the fraternal by equating it to something they find shameful (homosex).

I remind them that it is, in fact, the current year and that kind of internalised homophobia just isn't cool.

What the fuck, he didn't deserve to die, mang

Pure kino.

Pretty good. Needs a bit of touching up here and there though, in order to be flawless reasoning, and to have the unforced force of the better argument.

You'd be risking the mansplaining accusation.

Who the fuck would want to watch a pg-13 of that? Del Toro is right, it should be R.

I agree with this. Pan's Labyrinth really was amazing, dude needs to go on his own.

>dude needs to go on his own.
I think Del Toro's in a tough place.
He can cooperate with Hollywood and make an expensive movie. He's done it before.
So that tantalizing prospect is there.

He's got such crazy ideas that the extra budget is so tempting. Crazy isn't cheap.

Maybe he'll get frustrated and make another Pan's Labyrinth budget style movie.

watch sharpe you silly cunt

Women will never understand heterosexual male bonding. They think any kind of bromance is gay.

Embarrassing...
