He was a numale before that was even a thing.
He wanted to be Don but he couldn't be.
He should've just stolen someone else's identity
That won't fix his face.
He wanted to be "the man" but never went through the experiences to actually make him that
So being a nu-male is genetic? oof, ma'donne
Donfags are the worst
unbridled ambition and a spoiled upbringing
Pete was a Donfag. He wanted to be just like him but he didn't have what it takes.
Should I watch this show?
I watched the first season a few years ago, I remember most of it. Should I just start from the second season or rewatch the first?
wanted too much too fast
He was pretty based by the end of the show
This.
He probably got the best ending out of everybody. Rich, had his own private plane, back with his 8/10 wife.
She was maybe 7/10 at best desu
no one cares what you do
Literally the best written character in Mad Men
He was from one of the richest and most prestigious families in the country that pissed away most of it's fortune and it left him as an aimless underachiever who couldn't live up to the defunct legacy of his name. He wanted to be a self made alpha like Don but was too coddled and stunted to know how.
Who was the antagonist in mad men?
>tfw this pretty much describes you, except you are less rich and better looking
betty
>aimless underachiever
He wasn't though, he was pretty ambitious. Too ambitious, actually, at the start of the show.
It is true that he was an entitled, insecure and immature prick at the start but he improved over time.
sure you are
She did nothing wrong. Don was an asshole to her even though she was a 10/10 devoted to him and wanted to fuck him every chance she had.
>underachiever
What? Peter was more of a tryhard than an underachiever.
You literally described Roger by the way.
fat betty
alcohol
It's not hard to be better looking than Pete desu. That's not saying much
...
That Lucky Strike guy, and by extension cigarettes in general.
She did little to nothing wrong.
JUST
feminism and political correctness
He's not balding that bad in real life. The guy literally shaved his head so that it looks like he had a bad receding hairline for the show.
Don
>married to Alexis Bledel
I think he made out alright
The king ordered it
Boomers
No shit, you can see his hair where it was growing back out
is that jon hamm?
he was an entitled trustfund cunt who never had to work hard and by the end he had learned the value of hard work and realized what meant the most to him
in fact he has one of my favorite lines in the series: what if you have to start your life over again, and never get past the beginning?
I can only hope I do as well
Trudy is the best wife. 9/10 for me, as you do need to watch out if she's mad
Pete thought he could be this cool (pic related) but ultimately finds his way.
Underappreciated Pete line:
>Mathis or Stan or someone celebrates Frank Gleason's very recent death
Pete (understated):
>I think that's in poor taste.
Such a funny actor
The Jews
The Temptress Menken was the the catalyst for the trail of events that ruined Don's perfect life. Also Bobby Barrett, who Betty found out about was likely Jewish
His brother was the real reason his life was ruined, though. If the brother was more careful with how he killed himself he wouldn't have been the villain.
Why didn't Roger ever get Don to try acid
He told Don all about his experience I'm sure he offered to get him some and Don wouldn't do that with roger, he'd do it with some married stranger he met while drinking.
Out of all the wives in Mad Men, Trudy was literally the best one. Pete was a dumbass for cheating on her.
This. She was hot, kind, devoted, fun and not a stick in the mud. Her only fault was that she was occasionally a little overenthusiastic in her devotion
I realised Mad Men sucked right at the finale.
Why wouldn't Don drop acid with Roger
who is that semen demon?
Everything he had was given to him on the basis of things that were completely outside of his control. He was born into an aristocratic family, could afford to go to an Ivy League school because of it, and got a great job out of school based on those two things alone rather than any actual personal merits he may have had. He wasn't even particularly good at or passionate about being an account man but was forced into it because of his connections, and even when he eventually became a success it was because his marketing exec father-in-law gave him a gigantic account out of concern for his granddaughter and not because he went out and won it by giving the best pitch.
He wanted people to respect him like they respected self-made Don, but he didn't know how to do it because he hadn't spent his entire childhood and adolescence scraping and fighting to get by, so he didn't understand it and came off like an arrogant, spoiled try-hard.
New Amsterdam explains all of this
No one really besides maybe Duck, Lou and whatever big company was looming over then at the time. Maybe Ted at one time?
>he's never had a perfect but clingy girlfriend
everyone makes the same jump pete did, straight to batshit crazy but oddly sexy. there's something so infuriating about wholesome women. girls know this and that's why they act like bitches 50% of the time.
I don't know why but I get the feeling that somehow, from S1 at least, Trudy the character isn't as attractive as Allison Brie is
Trudy was incredibly annoying. She would have driven me insane. It's remarkable that Pete lasted as long as he did
>there's something so infuriating about wholesome women
It's because it is just a facade. There is no such thing as a "wholesome woman". They just pretend to be. At least the bitchy ones are honest about what they are.
I know this because my mom was supposedly a good wholesome conservative Christian. It turns out she was just another lying adulterous whore like all women.
he's a real prick on casual
I like to imagine an alternate universe where Vincent and Aaron were cast in each other's iconic AMC parts.
...
I sure don't, Aaron Paul is terrible
Although Pete would be great in BB
What if you switched Jon Hamm and Brian Cranston
>t. Bobby Draper
>I know how all women are because I'm a literal son a bitch
It wasn't until embraced what he had and became his own man that he was truly content.
>Truly, I have become a Mad Man
Hamm has too much natural presence to play the meek, impotent Walter we first meet in BB.
January as Skylar has potential. She could have been a wanna be trophy wife for a guy who's part of an amazing startup company, only to live in middle class "squalor" due to his pride.
Man is a wolf to man. Every character was the antagonist of himself.
dissatisfaction and unfulfillment
lol i forgot about this scene. shit cracked me up
latent homo
All of the main characters were the antagonists.
This is most clearly highlighted by Peggy's shift from earnest, hard worker, to uptight career bitch.
Pete threatening to kill Bob Benson.
Don literally leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.
Betty being a terrible wife and mother.
Roger being a tyrannical, unsympathetic boss.
A few of the more prominent side characters give us insight into how the leads are perceived by those around them.
Red pulled as fuck. She knows that's horrible but it gives most men a boomer. At the very least some crotch tingling.
Not even memeing, in all seriousness, what the fuck was Betty's problem? Why did she just say things like that out of the blue?
lolollol thats why i can't stand people that hate Betty. Betty Draper 4 eva
thats actually sexy talk to Betty. She's just a demented individual trying to live an extremely normie life
Because she was red pilled as fuck.
She was fucking nuts and possibly molested by her father.
The entire point of Henry as a character was that Betty was giving up on the kind of man she'd been told to want and put up with in favor of pursuing her own weird thing that she had for older men.
By the end of the series pete will likely be your favourite character.
he is so well written.
What other time was she shown to have a thing for older men?
Henry was cool
Conrad Hilton
very good catch. she had severe daddy issues and her dementia ridden dad felt her up and Betty was like 'la la la nothing happening'
I don't think Betty ever pretended to be a Christian
That is literally me. Like those three are my most outstanding features.
>Not great Bob!
>The King ordered it!
>The biggest, blackest prostitute you've ever seen!
What are some other great Pete lines?
The actor thinks Pete would have shot himself at some point.
Hells bells Trudy!
youtube.com
>"Im really sick of defending her. I think that she's a good person and I think that she tries every day to be a better person and a good mother and to be happy." - January Jones
This series is full of flawed people why did people hate Betty?
Well said
>And I'm President of the Howdy Doody Circus Army!
Or, while not a line, one of my personal favorite Pete moments:
>watching cartoons and eating cereal at home while his wife is on vacation
Not funny but spine tingling when Duck's telling him about Bob Benson and he's like
>I haven't seen anything like this.
>I HAVE.
Woah he actually looks a lot better with a moustache
Fag
Yeah it does look v handsome tbqh
It's a shameful, shameful day!
BAMBALAM
DRAPER!
>falls down stairs
WELL I'M THE PRESIDENT OF THE HOWDY DOODY CIRCUS ARMY
Kek I remember this line but not the context. What episode is this?
Did you know we were in the presence of a bona fide racist !?
