There's really only one true answer
the day they do is the day they lose all credibility
this de5u
Zootopia
Shit, I'd be pretty pleased with this. Plus the extras would be great, imagine Yuasa's Hakkenden episode in HD.
I'd be cool with Akira.
The Iron Giant or The Brave Little Toaster could also be fantastic. Any of Don Bluth's 80s works like NIMH, etc would be too.
I love you
Dragon's Heaven. I have no clue what it is but I saw some gifs of on tumblr earlier and it looks Moebius as fuck.
The Thief and the Cobbler boxset with the various versions and extensive history/making of.
...
If there's any justice in the world it will be this visual masterpiece.
what movie?
that looks dope
5 Centimeters Per Second
>Makoto Shinkai
>another other option
Patlabor 2
Dude Dragons Heaven is rad. Bit thought to find though.
Fleischer/Famous Studios's superman shorts or Chuck Jones's warner bros shorts
:)
Any rec'd movies from him? I thoroughly enjoyed Voices of a Distant Star and 5CmPS
This
I'd be so hard.
If this didn't just get a Blu-ray release it seems it would be right up there alley.
Perfect blue
For some reason that reminded me of this.
Criterion should release a collection of 20-50 god-tier music videos some day. this one obvs included.
now I'm going to go set up my helium mask while I think of how the studios killed his Neuromancer project
Garden of words is beautiful
>Criterion should release a collection of 20-50 god-tier music videos some day
>he doesn't own the most kinographic Criterion release to date
...
This company released selected works of certain directors music videos a few years ago. There's 7 in total I think. Jonze, Gondry and Cunningham are the essentials of course.
Vampire Hunter D + Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust dual set
RIP MCA
More than anything, Mind Game It's never had a US release but it's one of THE best anime movies ever.
They did release Akira though, on Laserdisc
>It's never had a US release
Then why am I watching it right now on US Netflix?
>THE best movies ever*
fixd
Prince of Egypt.
Well it never had a physical release and the Netflix thing is recent.
Cinderella
>anime combined with Hard Science-Fiction
angels's egg
Oh I'd buy the shit out of that.
Good answer.
So much this
Legitly pure kino
>DVD release is a weird mess of unlabeled menus
>DVD has broken subtitles
>Blu-Ray is shitty upscale
Yes, please
The movie was mastered in SD, as was standard for most music videos in the 90s and early 00s. A BD wouldn't do it much good.
I vote for Feherlofia/Son of the White Mare. The version I saw didn't have subs. :(
Yeah, but the Blu-Ray also has shit like interlacing and aliasing. I understand that the mastering means that they can't truly HD it but the BR sounds like a mess as it stands.
Ah yes, the problem with Palbor 1 & 2 is every release after the original Manga DVD from almost 20 years ago uses the vastly inferior Bandai dub. Which is why I still have my old Manga DVD despite the video transfer being not ideal. If Maiden Japan didn't include that audio track in its recent bluray release then it may be stuck in a legal deadlock or perhaps even the masters were lost.
My nigga
Iron Giant Desuu
Fuck yes, those Superman shorts would be amazing... are there any masters around anymore?
sure I saw a complete collection of them on DVD in a bin full of random movies at some bodega a year or two back.
Sleeping Beauty would be worth it just for that Eyvind Earle art all over the box. It's also a more classic fairytale so it would fit with their "historical significance" criteria
Patlabor 1&2 are super comfy, I got the manga dvds from a friend years ago and watched them while ill with a fever and since then they've held a special place in my heart.
I should rewatch them this week some time.
Post the other parts, please.
...
Hell yeah Friend. I love the old Manga localizations. I'm waiting on a copy of their Wings of Honneamise DVD in the mail to arrive sometime in the next few days.
