Are historical shooter games inherently immoral?

Are historical shooter games inherently immoral?

I always played FPS but now that I think of it, isn't it ethically wrong to make an enjoying activity out of the death and suffering out of dozens of thousands that died in a conflict?

no it's not

you're not actually killing people it's just a fucking game

Why just video games? Is it ethically wrong to be enjoying a book, or a film, or a play about wars?

>you're not actually killing people
I think a more accurate metaphor would be you're holding a rave party on their graves.

hahaha LMAO u got pwnd or somethng kid?

Someone got out of his igloo

I have had that thought before, it feels kind of weird to play waw when I've had relatives fight there in the Pacific

Sod off, penguin.

no it is not ,but I am sure dice will manage to make it shallow and boring even with a "diverse" cast

>shitposting from an arctic research station

How much do they pay you to do that?

France, is that you?

it's not an accurate metaphor

you're not celebrating their death

>morality in video game
Are you fucking retarded or something?

there fucking pixels you idiot

Code that represents an image.

holy fuck you people are retarded

Strawman. My metaphor does not mention you are celebrating their death.

Bonjour

well then

why would holding a party on someone's grave be wrong in the first place? the dead dont' have feelings anyway

I wonder what the flag looks like once you scrape the snow off.

'rare' doesn't even begin to describe it

Wouldn't that make RTS genre way more evil?

Underrated

Who gave the fucking penguin a computer?

then rephrase completely what you've meant, because i assumed what other poster have assumed, but you discarded it all

>enjoy nerd shit like video games and cartoons
>these get slowly taken over by prog entryists
>gradually stop using them out of disgust
>realize in hindsight how stupid those passtimes were, even before they were co-opted

Anyone else gone through this process?

They're* fucking atoms you idiot.

Code that represents an object.

Holy fuck you people are retarded.

We really are the same, aren't we?

Disrespecting the dead is a sign of lack of intelligence.

Adolf?

PK, Penguin King?

No, but it is Jewish propaganda.

I still expect a German based game.

and why is disrespecting the dead worse compared to disrespecting the living?

Guys what the hell are y'all talking about? That's the French flag.

The analogy is that enjoying playing video games about hundreds of thousands of people who suffered trough hell and sacrificed their lives for their countries is like holding a rave party in a graveyard.

Nobody respects the dead, it's selective respect. Especially here.

The only thing that disgusted me was the dubstep cover of the White Stripes.

> Hey sound designer, how do we make the Great War, a war that has been described as unglorious and horrific, sound cool and marketable?
> Just slap some dubstep on top mate

This is the second strawman you made, I'm beggining to think you have a lesser cognitive disorder. He never said anything about disrespecting the living, even less said it's worse or better.

Why do you think it's immoral to portray a historical setting in a video game? Do you consider war movies to be immoral?

...

I had a similar thought while playing cod:WaW.
Having a pretty good understanding of WW2 History mowing down waves of German soldiers and later German SS was actually making me a little uncomfortable. Germans reduced to shooting gallery targets. The whole "its okay to kill the Germans in the most Brutal and Inhumane ways possible because they are evil!" maymay.

They painted the Soviets as the saviors of Europe, or at least captured what the Soviets truly believed pretty well.

Germans are some of the most misunderstood soldiers, people in the world today. All thanks to Western propaganda, demonizing, and demoralization.

said the guy who thinks that playing videogames is like holding a party in a graveyard

how am i disrespecting the dead by playing a videogame about them? how it is ethically or morally wrong?

>inherently immoral?
depends what you consider immoral, if you dont like it then dont do it... simple as that

test

how so?

Same here. After learning the horrors of war playing Call of Duty is rather uncomfortable.

It's not exactly the same thing, but it's the same principle. You're having fun at the price of disrespecting the dead.

>how am I disrespecting the dead by playing a videogame about them? How is it ethically or morally wrong?

Oh, I see. You're the "defensive questions type". I know your type well.

Regardless, you're expected to honour, remember and praise the deeds of those who fought for your country, who went trough hell and gave their lifes so that 100 years later you'd turn into a degenerate weaboo shitposting on a forum full of skinheads.

To these people, you're expected to behave civilizedly, in accordance to what normal people would do. You're expected to bow down your head and honour the fallen. To regard, salute, remember, esteem, tribute, venerate their deeds and achievements. That is to recognize what people have done for you, that is to respect the dead.

By playing videogames you're ultimately ridiculizing the experience of countless millions of people who saw death with their own eyes. People who died affixiated by gas, who got deaf because a mortar took the life of their dearest friend right in front of them, people who lost an arm or a leg, or perhaps two, being runned over the tracks of a tank. You're making all this seem irrelevant, or even worse, a mere tool so you can unlock the next achievement or rank up another level.

Have you ever been to a funeral?

>he doesn't think its okay to kill the Germans in the most Brutal and Inhumane ways possible because they are evil!

You disappoint me comrade.

Yes and I lost a fuck ton of weight and started to go to raves instead

>Regardless, you're expected to honour, remember and praise the deeds of those who fought for your country

So it's not disrespectful, you are honoring and remembering them.

Just like how the ancient romans would recreate historical battles in the arena

>By playing videogames you're ultimately ridiculizing the experience of countless millions of people who saw death with their own eyes. You play video games in a fucked up way then

I Thought we had a copyright on that flag

I don't consider disrespectful and further more you should probably know it is not unusual for actual veterans or military advisors to collaborate in the developing of war videogames. if they don't consider those videogames harmful to their honour why should I?

I don't agree with OP but that is one retarded argument. Also at least check your grammar when you call someone an idiot, idiot.

>What wrong with CP? They're fucking pixels you idiot.

I hope you die.

Yup. The only game I can really get into anymore is Fallout 4, and I've already beaten it. I just wander and kill things.

I've got to find a new hobby or something.

we're all gonna die salty moralfag

Wouldn't it be an image that represents code?

Good one immoralfag

>watching bad CGI models fall over is immoral

ok m8

Having a party on someone's grave isn't disrespectful to the dead, only to the people who visit that grave, and only if they find celebration to be offensive.

Cemeteries aren't there for dead people, they're there for the living.

Or maybe you should play less shitty games.

>isn't it ethically wrong to make an enjoying activity out of the death and suffering out of dozens of thousands that died in a conflict?
No
It's literally the only thing keeping the west from civil war, it's meant to satiate man's natural bloodlust.
Yes they are violence simulators but simulation death is way better than millions going postal

Found the dirty Juden loving Christian

Someone post a picture of that fucking knight with a machine gun!!

Is it wrong to read a book base don a historical event because it fictionalizes the lives and deaths of real people? No it's not and neither is this or any other game.

...

Germans in the CoD games aren't really portrayed as anything besides theopposing force. In WaW they showed the Japs and to a lesser extent the Russians being especially brutal.

Wolfenstein The New Order really does the eeeeevil nazis thing and has an entire muh holocaust level (with mechs and everything)

Any suggestions, or is anything released in the past 10 years "shitty" to you?

Do they make sure to drill the 6M number in your head the entire level, and tell you about how evil Auschwitz was, and all that?
Oh, that reminds me. I was listening to 1010 WINS recently and they had some kind of advertisement for something Jewish related, and they repeated the 6 million number for the Holocaust (I think it was a remembrance museum or something), and once I heard them spouting the 6 million lie, I lost the desire to listen to that station anymore. It's crazy how far their influence stretches.

>isn't it ethically wrong

Why do people correlate video games and ethics? Video games are just fucking video games, its about how much fun you have; not how you are having compared to the rationality of reality, such as ethics.

Which don't exist in video games besides a plot point to drive the plot, like in COD:MW2 when to gun down all the civilians in the Airport in "No Russian". It does not mean anything, but people make a big ass deal out of it any how. Its not like they are real people being gunned down. If anything, the mission did its original goal of being fun, causing chaos and slaughtering many characters in a massive battle with plenty of destruction on a pretty well done map.

Unless your game is meant to be "educational", which most of the main-stream games are, don't try to equate ethics and video games. Its just simply retarded.

>Which most main-stream games are not*

are not*

Correction there.

Hello penguin poster, how's it going.

What's your opinion on music, then? Do you think that music about rape, killing, drugs and sex are fine as long as you can bump to it?

Its just fucking music, if you get turned on by that shit and/or take it seriously, you probably lost all objective sight of reality.

No

There's no 6trillion meme, but you do have to escape an oven at one point. It's a giant incinerator that burns lots of bodies at once though, unlike the small magic ovens you'd find in a real concentration camp.

who cares pussy faggot

>ethically wrong
on what basis?
utilitarianism?
it doesn't hurt anyone. war veterans aren't SJWs who get offended by everything
they don't give a shit if there's a game about the war they fought in

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LET THAT DOG INTO THE OUTPOST! LET THE CRAZY NORWEGIAN GUY ON THE HELICOPTER SHOOT AND BURN IT.

That's the thing with Wolfenstein you leaf.
It's not a serious game. It never was. Look at the fucking original game, every room was a swastika and the final boss was a fucking Mecha Hitler.

reminder that all of Antarctica is rightful British snow

>finally get my World War 1 game

>AYO HOLLUP
>*SUCKS AIR*

Anyone translate?
I have no idea what the fuck does the last text mean

We've been doing it with WWII for decades and that was a much greater tragedy in terms of loss of human life.

Well the guy with the gun is carrying a T-Gewehr only used by Germany so I guess German.

witnessed

fucking penguin niggers ruining this board.

>igloo
Igloos were built by the inuits, Goldstein.

>Get asked for Battlefield 1
>They open the present
